    Hmm 1980's eh!

Started with a Marshall 30 watt 12" speaker - pretty loud in the early eighties (had the option of this or the Roland bass thing - think I made the right choice)

Then Carlsbro Stingray head and Selmer Cab which changed the gravitation field of the earth wherever I placed it; it was that heavy.

The Trace BLX 80 when they first a came out - hated it

Then Peavey Firebass 4x10 and 1x15 black widow set up after that which was brilliant and kept it for years until I got fed up humping it about

I bloody love my firebass head, 4x10 and 1x15. Do u find it annoying that the 1x15 cab is smaller as i always want that on teh floor and the 4x10 on top.

  2. Super job guys. I will have a go with the white spirit.

I do have to admit, at this gig depping for my mates band i was giving it some newstead headbanging with the metal stance, and a saucy bird from the crowd did give me a bit of the up and down on my thigh with her crotch so you never know what kind of fluid may of soiled my warwick. All in the name of rock and roll

  3. Hi all,

Apologies if this has been covered. i did my best to search but couldnt find any info.

On my Warwick FNA Jazzman (natural ash finish with the cool tiger esq striping) i have a few lines on the body where my sweat has run. Ive tried rubbing with the official wax as that is claimed to be a cleaner as well but ive had no luck, its still there.

I think my sweat is a bit acidic when gigging as ive already rusted my MM pickup poles.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers, ben

  4. I agree re the USA sterlings. They were more expensive that the standard stingrays and head and shoulders above the sterling by musicman. They sorta decided to bring out a musicman "jazz" with a slimmer neck than the stingray and gave more pickup sound options with the 3 way switch, which was incorporated in the stingray 5.

If you want a stingray sound with a little more sound variety and prefer the slimmer jazz neck (and can afford it) go for the usa sterling. They are wonderful. i love mine and would never swap it with anything

ps - the usa sterlings dont seem to hold their value very well 2nd hand. a few have been sold on here around the £600 mark which is a steal for a bass back in the day of around £1400 ish +

  5. I cant believe i have gone this long without having one. I fell in love with a FNA back in 1998-2000 but got a MM instead. I then picked up a passive mid range corvette off a mate years ago for a few weeks and hated it, but this jazzman ticks all my boxes. The finish, the ultra fast neck for fingering and slap and the beef sound. Consider me a Warwick lover

  6. Its wicked lozz. Join the revolution. Mine has Seymour duncan electronics inside and they call the pull switch a contour control. The 2 sewdriver things adjust bass and mid boost. The non seymour bypass the 3eq and make it passive. Not mine, it gives it another flavour for something like a solo.

This is not a negative thread is it? If there is any negativity it's been directed at the originals bands.

Originals or covers, there is nothing negative, its all about effort, how much time you have on your hands, and what your muso preference is. I love playing bass but i also like playing footie 2x a week, going to the gym 3x a week, getting p1ssed, hanging with the wife, family blah blah blah. That doesnt give me enough time to practice with an originals band often enough or be able to sit at home working out original basslines which IMO take far longer than working out a cover - thanks to the internet. I practice with my metal covers band every fortnight ish and gig 3x ish a month. Plenty for me.

If i had the chance to be in a originals (i.e opeth please) and make a living out of it without the hassle of work and be able to put the effort i think is required then originals all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Too many ego's in original bands and people are too easily upset when you tell them a song/riff they have brought to practice is doggers. I played in original bands solidly from 96 - 02 which was mint, got signed to a small label but never pushed on. They were some of the most musically stressful years of my life. You also have to practice with originals around/more that twice a week IMO to get to the level required so as you get older and have a family this isnt so easy.

  9. Hi Guys

This weekend I bought a mega natural warwick corvette fna jazzman of a ruddy nice bloke LLcoolbass. It is litterally the best bass i have ever played and ive tried quite a few in my 18 years of playing. The neck is amazing, it looks the business and has amazing amounts of different sounds.

It has this cool push/pull switch on the volume which bypasses the active 3 eq and runs off settings modified by a little screwdriver via the access on the back of the bass. Anyone have any experience with these settings for different sounds via the 2 small screwdriver switches?

    Big up the Warwick massive
