1. 2008 interview with him on the Carvin channel ;

http://www.carvincha...lay.php?vid=127

He wanted his signature bass to have " no unnecessary electrical components " so it only has one vol. control . Thats it . :sun_bespectacled:

2. Good bump , Owen , thanks !

4. I received my ( first :) ) upright back in January from Thomann in this box ;

When I opened it the fingerboard wasn't attached ;

So I researched which glue to use and decided to go for hide glue .

I made a glue pot from the smallest slow cooker I could find , a lid I cut out of plywood with a hole in for a heat-proof plastic bowl that you get microwaveable desserts in , and a meat thermometer .
I had to wait to get hide glue pearls from mail order because I couldn't find any on this one-horse island , so I slowly acclimatised the bass over a few days to a heated , humidified room ( 24 hrs in the soft case in the room first ) , and heated the ebony 'board over a radiator before gluing .

I had no problems and the bass has been fine since . :D
These resources were helpful ;

Interviews with him in the early 80s ;
At 2:05 he says he grew up playing Austrian folk songs on accordion .
At 13:45 he says he liked the Wurlitzer when it came out in the 60s because it allowed him to play " more accordion-like ".
At 31:27 he demonstrates the sound he was after when he was very young . Guess what it sounds like !

6. Some New Agers claim that tuning to A = 432 Hz is better for us than 440 Hz
Of course they have dug up all sorts of ancient evidence to support their claim .
There is loads about it on the 'net if you search for 432 hz tuning .

Stuff like this ;

7. Some Fenix info for anyone searching in the future ;

" Sound Control in Scotland notably took a massive consignment of precisely 1,000 Fenixes in summer 1993 and sold them on the cheap "
