  1. We spoke on Facebook not long ago about this bass - its these guys - the company started in 1979 so Im sticking with 80's possibly early 90's, made in china.

"Richwood was founded in 1979 in China to produce accessories for musical instruments. It wasn't until 1992 that we started seeing Richwood acoustic guitars in the Benelux. Richwood started out producing bad quality copies of well-known brands, which didn't make Richwood very popular."

Where I am at the moment, a one setting wonder would be an upgrade. I was so annoyed with the user interface I just went through the generally awful presets until I found one that sounded basically ok, spent a while getting the EQ right, and left it.

I'm looking at the Hotone Ampero One which seems to have a good visual interface. Then I can build myself two or three settings, and it'll be a two or three setting wonder and I'll be happy ;)

Does it not have an app likr the Helix and HX Stomp to set up patches on a computer?

  3. Depending on mood, either Headphones into Ampeg SCR-DI, if I can be bothered turning the PC on then Amplitube 4/5 using the Ampeg amps pack.. but more usually this... Mooer Hornet White - can hook it up to the laptop by Bluetooth and jam along to my hearts content.

Cheers! I’ll take a look when I restring it, currently deciding which flats to put on it. I’ve also never taken the neck off off anything, do I need to worry about tightening the screws too much etc when I put it back on?

Just get them snug, comfortably hand tight (doesnt have to be like a vice!) - you dont want a screw snapping. Also look out for any shims that have been put in the neck pocket (small slithers of thin wood usually - though sometimes you find plastic or ever card!!) and make sure they are where they started from when you put it back on.

I’m not entirely sure actually! I tried to track down the exact model with the serial number but it was inconclusive, built sometime around 97-20’ though I believe?

If you pop the neck off it shoulf have it screen printed on the Heel - PB-70, PB-62 and I think PB-58 depending if its a 62/70's or 50's reissue. The logo on the headstock would suggest a PB-70 (it's the 70's style P bass logo). The normal MIJ fenders Ive seen that aren't re-issue models have all had logo's similair to the MIM ones currently out. Also all of the PB-70's I've seen have been either white or natural (maybe a black one).- theres a few white ones on Reverb at the moment.

The MIJ ones had the smaller "One size goes on everything" tuners (they also fitted them to the PB-62's - I had a PB-62 in Photoflame blue)whereas the USA made ones had the full size 70's style tuners (smaller baseplate revrese wind on the 50's and 60's I believe)

Either way its a nice bass!

Finally got my hands on this P-Bass I found on eBay a little while ago, one 6-hour trip to Gloucester and back and it’s sitting pretty in my house.

Plays wonderfully, and the build quality is superb from what I can tell. The rosewood board is very rich and easy to play, which I was a little worried about having mostly played maple boards.

It’s come with custom shop 62’ pickups pre-installed and a new set of Fender pots, so I’m unable to check the exact serial numbers, but it’s from around 97-00’ from what other BC’s have said in my previous thread.

Only modification I’ve made is to switch out the black pickguard for this red tort one, which I rather like. I’m considering getting the pickup cover and ashtray but I’m still undecided…

    Overall, very very happy!

oooh tasty.. is it the PB-70 (70's Reissue)? Im guessing by the logo it is?

  7. Here's the deal.

If you are a covers type function or semi pro band, you wouldnt take it (or need to).

If you are a good originals band, the same. Because people would want to hear you so you put on gigs yourself and guarantee a following. Also you are going to have a targeted demographic (Why would a Swedish Death Metal band want or need to play a winebar full of middle aged Hootie and the Blowfish fans for example..??)

If you are just starting out, have zero following (and quite possibly are just not that great) then it would be worth it for the experience.

    Not rocket science really.

I’m using mine and my RM800 with my two 210 Pro Neo Ashdown cabs

I had the PF115LF cab at first but didn’t like it and too heavy !

I’ve read so many PF500 failure stories but as they still make it and it’s about 8yrs since the early model issues I’m confident my 2021 model is reliable.. we will see 👍

It should be. The ONLY issue I ever had with mine was using it in a Rehersal studio on one of the cabs there - they then let me know they had messed with the impedance on that cab to save abuse from inexperienced clients - it was supposed to be 4 ohms but wasnt. Other than if being a bit Flaky with impedances it was used solidly (rehersals and gigs) for about three years.

In fact it sounds really good with Ultra low and Ultra Hi engaged.

Ive also purchased the PF500 ( 2021 model ) and the two together sound really good.

Used to have a full PF-500 stack (with the 2x10 and 1x15 cabs).. I was lucky to get one of the rare "good" 1st generation ones. Great sounding Amps, even better when put through a Pro Series 4x10 (really was not impressed with the Portaflex cabs tbh.). Have to say the Pro IV and SVT models are my go-to's on the Helix FX Stomp.

  10. The Scrambler section I find a little "Meh..." but I have tried running it just using the Preamp section directly into my Headrush 112 and it sounds great. If I had a bigger pedalboard it would be mounted along with the HX stomp and MS-60B. Advantages over the Classic Analogue Pre (after all it is basically THAT and an SCR pedal melded together) are the extra sockets (Headphones, line out, Ballanced DI out). Does a .good Ampeg impersonation if tweaked right

Isn't this a guitar cab? If it were mine, I'd be making sure it'll handle bass at more than bedroom level.

They are quite widely used for bass too, both as stand alone and monitoring - it isn't a guitar cab per se, closer to a powered PA speaker (Hence the full range). And as Gaffbass02 has said he uses his for both gigs and rehersal with no issues.

I use mine with a zoom b9.1. Although ts312 not happening now. I took today off to take delivery and Andertons didn’t send it. So I’ve asked for a refund, no time to chase round after a rescheduled delivery.

Ouch. I (and a few guys I know) have had Andertons really drop the ball in the last few years. One Buddy was sent completely the wrong guitar (in the right colour at least!??) and had to argue back and forth as they insisted it was what he ordered.. till he pointed out the abscence of a S1 switch on it. Another paid for a guitar that was ordered in from the US, and when it arrived at Andertons they promptly sold it to someone else before it was dispatched. I had a running argument with them over a set of pickups I ordered and paid for but kept getting fobbed off over. They used to be brilliant, great customer service but not what I've found recently. Think they got too big too soon with the YouTube fame etc

Being that these are FRFR cabs are you guys going to be using them with modeling amps?

Using mine with the Amp models on both the Helix HX Stomp and Zoom MS-60B (I have my MS-60B connected to the HX Stomp's FX Loop and accessable through a patch). Have also tried my Ampeg SCR-DI straight in.

I’m using the 112 and have just purchased a second hand alto ts312 which should be interesting to compare when it arrives.

I did see a video on YouTube comparing the two - both slightly different. You'll have to do a thread when you get it - I asume you can theoreticaly chain the two together (as you can do with two Headrush cabs)

Ive switched to a headrush too. Very pleased so far. Couple of loud rehearsals and a a gig and I’ve had no issues.

Are you using the 112 or the 108? I decided on the 12 just in case. Mixed with the HX stomp and an MS60B running in the HX's FX loop I dont think I will ever need another rig.

  17. £350 ovno trades considered

REDUCED TO £250 TEMPORARILY AS I HAVE MY EYES ON SOMETHING - (WORTH MORE THAN THAT PARTED OUT!)

    COLLECTION ONLY

I have decided to part ways with this, as I am relegated to bedroom noodling now, and I cant see any situation even if my health takes an upturn where I will require a 5 string.

    This thing is a beast.

Factory second "Performer Classic (the one with the curved body)" Body and neck - neck required a bit of sanding which I sorted -  (the neck itself was slightly wider than the fingerboard leaving a "lip"), and body had some minor dlaws in the finish (though they are not noticeable unless you really look) - body colour is a strange mix of Holoflash and Translucent black, has the colourchange associated with Holoflash's but more subtle?

    Fitted with:

    Gotoh GB707 tuners

    2x EMG 40DC active pickups

Michalik BP-4 Pre-amp (the guy who makes the TonePumps for spector, this is basicaly a TonePump without the Spector Sticker and Premium price added - identical in every way)

    Schaller 3D bridge.

Crown fretmarker stickers have been added to the neck and look pretty nice but could be easily removed.

Everything works as it should, I haven't had to tweak the neck since I built it about a year ago. It is VERY high output - the BP-4 has a trim pot which is currently backed off (as you can imagine running active 40DC's into a tonePump gives enough power to stop a charging elephant at 100 paces.

Will put up pictures from the phone shortly. I just find myself playing "The Dood" mostly as its fairly lightweight. Possibly unless I talk myself out of it the CK-4 will be appearing here too, soon.

Trades wise - I am a sucker for P basses, hence "The Dood".

    Failing Health SUCKS.

The Thread of it being initially put together (before upgrades)

  18. I parted company with my rig at the weekend (and Im pretty sure a couple of basses will be following it.. Im looking at you Spectors...) as with a lovelly combination of Spondylosis, a possible trapped artery in the neck and calcification of said artery, I am not going to be playing live in a hurry if at all. Cast my reservations to the wind and decided to buy a Headrush to go with my recently purchased HX Stomp. Have to say my initial impressions are very favourable. Granted in a terraced house with paper thin walls I cant quite "give it the beans", but at a reasonable volume it sounded no better or worse than amps Ive owned. If anything it has more bottom end which suprised me.

Anyone know where "unity gain" is on the HX Stomp output? Currently have the output level at 12 oclock.

yes, I know there is the custom shop one and the standard one. I have the standard one in a bitsa I made and I want the same again

The polepieces do not looked bevelled in the ebay advert, but they are on the one I have

could just be the bobin sitting low in the covers. HOWEVER a new set from GAK (and a few other retailers)are only about £10 more - so I'd be tempted to go down that route if you are worried. They have the waxed cloth wiring and the baseplate so to me they look legit.

  20. Look absolutely fine for whats on the box etcbut they are not the 62RI pickups, they came in a different box. Great pickups (had them in a couple of my past bitsa's). Doubt they are trying to pull a fast one - there is a lot of confusion and people often refer to them as 62RI pickups (there are ACTUAL 62 RI pickups but these aint those.)

    62RI

    Visually they are very similair

*EDIT* Looking at it it seems Fender refer to them as 62 pickups to add to the confusion..
