I'll check mine carefully later then, although quick sneak peak it looks dandy.

Excellent to see Doug is excelling at customer service once again :)

cant wait for some reviews to come in, im particularly interested to hear how it sounds with the Barbikan stuff Kev as thats pretty close to what we do.

I tried to convince the guys in the band to try the BF PA system when we were looking at a new PA. Unfortunately, being relatively unknown outside the bass-playing community & the "homemade" look meant the rest of the band wouldn't entertain spending £4K on the BF system, trial or no trial. We ended up going for the QSC KW112 tops & subs in the end.

i can see this happening a lot, when we buy a new pa im looking for reasons to put my foot down, thats why im after more info/testamonials before i pitch it to the band although tbh they will probably go with whatever i say anyway.
i will feel better about it with a bit more info though.

  3. i was thinking of trying 45-105's but was a bit concerned about them being too light with dropping 3 semitones, thanks for the input folks
i do prefer light gauge strings so i might try them and if im not happy going up to some kind of 50 - 110/115 set, a 120 i think might be too much for me.

  4. Does anyone use c# tuning on a 34" scale 4 string bass?
I usually prefer 40-100 Sadowsky blue label steels and love the feel on my standard tuned 33" scale Xylem ( not too much tension and bright and zingy)
but I'm setting up a bass in standard c# tuning and wondered if anyone can help many thanks.

  5. just spotted this at bass direct, nothing on the darkglass website though
im thinking this could very well be my next amp purchase, thoughts?

  6. i have a rh750 and a super 12t and play in a very loud metal band, with a very prominent bass tone. ive never had it even halfway on the master volume and im often too loud haha.
i also tried the eden a while ago and it definitely seemed to have less perceived volume than thew tc for me. (although i didn't a-b them directly)
if i was in your position though the peavey would be top of my list to try, it does indeed look very interesting.

Maybe just me, but my mark iv IS a lightweight format! it's a dead easy 1-handed lift (though a bit lopsided...

Maybe it's because I'm a reformed GT200 and V4 owner... but the mk iv is just not that heavy.

i remember it being big and heavy (and very lopsided for that matter)but that was a long time ago, it was certainly a lot heavier then my tc rh750
i might see if i can pick up a used one and rehouse it for better balance and less weight, might be a fun little project

How about a mini version of the Mark IV series :)

this!!! great amps i had a mark iv and a vi back in the day, both awesome amps, if they can nail that in a lightweight format ill be all over it.

  9. Heres a curiosity

i have acquired a 8 amp 8 cab switching matrix, for comparing amp/cab combinations. you can select any 1 of the 8 amp inputs to any 1 or 2 of the 8 cab outputs.

All connectors are Neutrik branded and each input/output has speakon and jack connections

item is as new in original box and looks like it has never been used

This would be great in a shop demo/display area or for any amp/cab collectors out there, it might also be handy for events such as a bass bash

Looking for £50 ono, also open to trades
    based in lancashire.
also happy to post at buyers expense

The fellow's not wrong; this is a fine, superbly produced and executed album, a steal at the download or digipak price asked. No 'throwaway' tracks, a coherent, dense but aerien sound, recognisable lyrics that are not complete 'tosh' (technical term... ;) ) for a change; what's not to like..? No point in offering comparisons (sounds like xxx or yyy...), these folks stand on their own terms. Worth a listen, surely..? Thanks for the heads-up, Anthony, and 'Well done, Winterfire'... B)

thanks for your input and thanks for listening, i have only just seen your post but its great to see that you liked our stuff (and the production too, always a concern for a self produced effort) :^)

  11. just thought i would post this if anyone might be interested, an upbeat number with a good simple driving bassline taken from my bands debut album.
recorded and mixed by yours truly, any feedback on the song or recording would be appreciated:^)
