1. Happy new year to everyone. It's my resolution to come on here much more often. Glad to be a part of the bass community
2. Hi guys, what sort of rates should I charge for giving bass lessons?
3. Hi guys, got a question about session work. I've been offered some work with a guy who's recording an album in a few months. He want to know what my rates are and if I charge hourly or per song. Anyone know what I should be charging for that sort of thing? Thanks
4. I've been thinking about string choice for a while and with bass strings being quite pricey, it's hard to experiment with them. I've used both flatwounds, nickel and stainless steel roto's in the past but never really knew which was the right choice. My latest set were elixir 45's and they just blew me away. I busk quite a lot so it's a lot of lead work (slapping, tapping and chords). Just wanted to know if anyone can recommend which guage is the best for me?
5.
Welcome aboard! I trust the reference to 70's prog rock is Pink Floyd orientated Keep in low and loud
Occasionally, but I'm a Yes nut at heart!
6. How do all. My name's Russ and I'm a 23 year old bass player from Cumbria. I've been playing for almost 10 years and I live for the bass. Gigged all over the place from Carlisle to London in various function bands and my own band Violent Karma. I'm currently planning on teaching the bass privately amidst busking and gigging. Equipment- American Fender Jazz Ibanez SR506 6 string bass Stagg acoustic bass Elixir strings Fender bassman kickback 150 watts Roland bass micro cube Boss loop pedal If there's a bassline to play, I'll play it, I don't have a preference of genre when playing. I'll give anything a listen but I'll always have a soft spot for 70's prog and heavy rock. It's a pleasure to join you all. Russ
