1. Thanks much everybody !!!! Last but not least any place where i can get those one in EU ? I'm interested in those telefunken too. Regards?
 2.
Shuguang GE-KT88.
Yup read really nice reviews on those ones. What about the 12AX7 and 12AT7 ? Any suggestions.
 3. Hi, Just bought an Hiwatt slave power amp 200W 4*KT88 (the power amp section of the 70"s DR201). Actually comes with 4 JJ tesla KT88 and got a small input stage that's act like a driver with 1 12AX7 (amplifier) and one 12AT7 (driver). I'm looking to put some really really sonically beast good valves in there. But i'm quite new at this. Do you guys have recommendations ? Is vintage really expensive valves are worst the money or just a trend that do not make sense ? I do indie black rock that sometimes tends to drone doom. So sustain and loud sound matters lot ! Thanks.
 4. So what would you recommend to go british and dommysh ?
 5. Yup but i do fear that sunn is just so trendy since sunn o))) cast a light on this brand and are overpriced. This one is at the same price as a new ampeg SVT-VR so that sounds ok to me.
 6. Hi again, Well basicaly this topic is dedicated to loud cranked overdriven doom or stoner sound. Killing rig setup, you ever ever heard in live ? I'm from france, actually there're some vintage stuff for sale's second hand (ampeg blue and black line svt heads with matching fridge, sunn 1200s & 300t, hiwatt custom 200...) as well as modern heads that looks promising too. So i'm considering going for something bigger than my actual set-up (svt-pro 3 with 4x10hlf made in US for both), i mean add some stuff (heads and cab) to that rig. Would you guys, go for something that vintage as an old SVT from the 70 (the blue line is actually a bit too pricey, but i think i can get a good price from the black one),sunn 300t (a 1200s is for sale too), hiwatt custom 200? Or would you go for 2 or 3 different (less powerfull) heads like ampeg-v4b with a sovtek mig 100 or a fender bassman 135 ? Or would you go for modern heads like orange, ashdown, eden, markbass and the like ? I don't the f***ing reason why but those aren't appealing for me (except orange or matamp) not sure that would fit my sound. If you had my setup, what cabs would you add to give it more balls ? I also use line level analog synth that have do some balls (Moog bass) in amps and ha well i do have some really nice DIY fuzz pedals that blend with clean tone to have that actually cranked sound. I'm asking this because i think it's hard to crank a 300watt full valve head in small venue unless you are completely dumb, or you could use a powerbrake box but that's ain't good for the valves. On the contrary you could easily crank a 100watt head for the overdriven sound and keep the one for the clean sound. Well i'm a bit confused and need direction from experienced guys before go and try. With my bands we'll start serious gig and maybe tour soon so i really need something that rocks. Sound is 50% of what our music is, we do it simple but we want it to sound just amazing (that's a counterpart of having a drummer that's also a sound engineer). Bless, Regards.
 7. I bought a pedal from Morten and i can confirm he's very pleasant guy to deal with. I'm based overseas, in France, and morten helped to make that selling as easy as if i was buying it to my neighbourhoods. Recevied the pedal next week after i sent payment so that was fast. You can trust him, i'm used to buy stuff from US and UK and he's one of my the most pleasant guy i've ever deal with. Cheers, Olivier
 8. Hey guys, be aware that 200/300W are ok too i don't necessarily need 400W.
 9. Hello everyone, Thanks for all the tips. Dad3353 i'm from Bordeaux so i fear it's a bit too far away to give it a try. Anyway many thanks for kindly offer. One problem about height it's a nightmare with flight companies. As example with EasyJet, if you go above 66lbs if you have to add 46£ each 6lbs. I do understand why you took it back by the ferry.
Get this: http://basschat.co.u...om-valve-beast/ Seriously.
Never heard about this model before, seems to be a beast ! Having a marshall head was in my plan too and that one is frightening. Tempting very tempting...Sometimes i wish i'd live in uk, such good gear there. Such good music from there.
 10.
Matamp has a London dealer, ask them if he has a GT200 in stock.
Already did, but they haven't
 11.
what does syncoped mean ?
Sorry the correc translation was syncopated with offbeat. Dan, you are right no one can choose that answer i know that's a bit stupid to ask such recommandations i just need some directions. I never owned a valve head before. Do you guys have a place in UK (london would be the easier place) where it's possible to give a try at those amp ? I know that's weight is an issue but that's not a issue for me now. I'm sure it'll be later, but for now it's ok.
 12.
Have you considered running the Ampeg into a power/slave amplifier? Just for the extra push?
Hum not really, the ampeg head isn't mine. It's my guitarist's one (which is bass player in another band), so i'd like to buy a new head to have my own gear. However, it's an option to use the new valve head with the ampeg head.
 13. Hello basschat. I'm the bass player of a french doom rock band that is sometimes slow and loud and sometimes speedy basslines kinda rock ala shellac or trans am. I'm currently using a warwick thumb bolt-on 6string with barts pickups with DIY fuzz pedals and a svt3pro with a 4*10" HLF cab. I already have a quite an amazing sound. But i just need more before going on stage. We are currently composing tunes, making some recording and mixing and the sound is already more than correct. But being three and without any singers we just need more. So i think i'll get a bass rig and a guitar rig with a bi-amp system and for now i'll try to improve the bass side. So i'm thinking about buying a valve head which is at least 200W. I'm currently hesitating between hiwatt 200 or 400, matamp gt200, sunn 300t, mesa bass 400, which one you would recommend ? I need a f***ing huge low end with mids that can cut through (not that hard just being three). Another point to consider is taht i'm gonna use pure analog synth through that bas rig too. So i need something that can handle a synth input as good. Speaking of the cab i might add a barefaced 2*15" + one 4*10" on the bass rig. Do you think i'm in the right gear or totally wrong ? i know the better would be for me to try all that gear but it's nearly impossible to find those brands in france. Regards, Olivier
 14.
Although I have never owned any of the above, I feel you may be looking at options which exceed your requirements. These ^ basses are normally selected for their clarity of tone for situations where their natural raw tone (basically refinements of Fender tone) is considered worth the extra premium. For your type of music you are looking for something with power and a broad spectrum of tones which will work well with effects... which imho takes us back to G&L mate.
Yes you're quite right . I'm not collecting many bass/year to be honest. I'm more a one bass decade guy. It takes time to me to get used to a new bass and it takes time to it to get used to me too. That's why I'm considering such bass. As said G&L saw on forum and a friend of me who tried one said that G&L doesn't do the job in 5-String. But i have to try one by myself. I'll go in a music shop just after work to give it a try. You might be right and i have to build my proper opinion too. I thought that a P inspired bass build from a little group of ppl would just fit my needs better than a factory made instruments. With the cost of $ today, it's interesting to buy something from the US. That's what turned me on on that one. But your point of view is correct and you convince me to give it a try to that G&L at the music shop
 15.
You could probably try most of the brands at the london bass bash? Personally I recommend kitting out your Thumb with some standard Warwick MECs, Bartolini single coils are wayyyyy too soft sounding. The MECs will be way cheaper than any other new bass options, and will sound far more aggressive than any of the options you are considering IMO.
I do totally agree with you, but there's also the string spacing which is really too tight for my needs. Otherwise, i'd have changed the pickups and that's it. And i don't need 6-string anymore 5 would do the job well.
 16. Yeah i read a bit more about rays and seems that you guys are right ! I'm hesitating between nordstrand, sadowsky and lakland now. Do you think guys one of them could suit my needs and which brand would you recommend ? Any place in London where i could give a try to that 3 brand ? Only US model. Regards, O.
 17. Well thanks to all the ppl who contributed here. I think i'm going to get something like a good 5-String P bass, but not a fender one. Something like a sadowsky NYC PJ5, or nordstrand, or maybe sandberg (is it stupid or could it does the job) I just don't want a bass that sound too woody as my warwick does. It growl, have deep low end and depth but it get lost in the mids and high. I'm only looking after second hand now. As said, i can buy something in uk or usa so i have plenty of choice (lot of interesting bass on talkbass too !). Just one think i'm wondering. What's the benefits of going on a graphite necks ? I knew the alu neck from travis bean or electric guitar company but graphite neck aren't that much seen there.
 18.
Stainless steel strings would be good to try too!
Nice suggestion i'll give it a try
 19.
P.S. I can't stop reading your name as "anal growl"
Haha that sound nice indead !! Well u just confirm the fact that english people are kinda kinky which is just fine. Never had that in mind when choosing that nick name, was a mix of analog and growl. Mainly because we use only analog stuff to produce and record our music. And the growl because for me is the best description of our music. Shaking the floor and wall in a sonic explosion experience . Our last tune sounds like sunnO))) monolith&dimensions. But anal growl could describe that as well so nice find you made there
 20.
g&l l-2000, crazy aggressive when in series mode. Or EBMM sterling?
Yeah G&L 4-string bass are really nice, tried one and really liked it. But looking mainly for a 5-string i didn't gave it much attention. And in 5-string G&L lack of a good low B. Finally seems that ppl just sticks to 4-String bass rather than 5-string ones . About the sterling i have no idea, never heardd one yet. Are Sterling harsher than Rays ?? Thanks again for all the suggestion over that place, this is just awesome !!
 21.
Yes 'rays are aggressive but I wouldn't really recommend them for metal unless your prepared to eq the hell out of it's ass - the mid bite is too intrinsic for me. I play stoner rock and seldom bring the ray out for that.
So that one would do the job pretty much better for a ray for example ? Never tried a ray yet so i can't really judge them, just a friend of mine who advice them. Also our band was initially into stoner, we are more doom/sludge oriented now.
 22. Yup i'm in touch with a guy selling a P-T40 let's see what happened. What a about a stingray ? Would you buy a Stingray 5 a Stingray 5 classic, a pre-EB stingray 4 or a 90" stingray 4 ? And what about Lakland us series ? They seems to have 35", string through, nice string spacing. But there aren't a few over there.
 23.
A EBMM Bongo 6 string. I believe I have one for sale!
Yours looks amazing, but I'm really looking to a 5 or 4-string bass. With that band i play most of the time on the B-E-A string and sometimes in the D. Sometimes i just play one notes each 30-40seconds so less string is better for this project. Thanks for letting me know btw
 24.
Tele bass Thud thud thud........
Yeah I've been considering those ones. The only problem is that it ain't easy to find to try before buy. But from what i read these ones have a very high signal and huge low end frequency.
