2. Squier VMJ Fretless (Vintage Modified Jazz): £180 This bass has been incredibly well looked after, has had flats on it for most of it's life and it's still in awesome condition. Bought it new a few years ago. Gigged once or twice, mostly used for messing around on my own at home. used for a few recordings as well (sounds brilliant). SO much bass for the money. This bass truly let's you be like Jaco! It was my favourite bass for a long time (even compared to my MIJ jazz) but now I need the money. Collection from Bexley, Kent preferred. Will ship at buyer's expense. Check out my feedback thread in my sig! 3. Yamaha BB415 (Orange): £180 Reluctant to sell this wonderful bass. Alas, I need the money! Bought it here on Basschat from Sean a couple of years ago. The bass has since been used for a handful of rehearsals and studio sessions, and one gig. The rest of the time it has been sitting in the cupboard - so it's in perfect condition. Not a scratch on it. Here is the original thread from 2013: http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry2025559 The bass has Hipshot string retainers fitted and a Gotoh-alike bridge fitted. It sounds amazing, incredibly versatile too. You can't get a better sounding low B in this price range. The rear pickup has amazing jazz honk - I actually preferred it to my MIJ Fender Jazz on some recordings. Of course the from P style pickup sounds awesome as well, I usually flipped between the two but they sound great together as well. Photos: https://www.dropbox....KvZNeqkx9a?dl=0 Happy to ship at buyers expense but would prefer collection from Bexley, Kent. Check out my feedback thread in my sig. 4. Looking to sell my full rig unfortunately 2x Genz Benz NEOX 112T and MarkBass LMII Special Edition - £650 (not £810 as the listing says - won't let me change this) Absolutely adore this set up. The LMII is known as one of the best small amp heads you can get. 500W at 4ohms and it fits in the front much of my gig bag. Great tone shaping abilities. It's impossible to get a bad sound out of it, even with the mid knobs turned up to full! Really useful in a studio situation as a pre-amp too. The Genz Benz cabs are extremely light. Yet powerful... I love 12 inch cones because they have the best of both worlds. Bottom end of a 15 and clarity of a 10. Plus, there's a controllable tweeter that allows you to dial in as much top end as you want (these are also great). Really versatile rig as it's easy to split and just take one cab. Even with one cab it's surprisingly powerful and this is the set up that I use most of the time. The cabs have a kick back stand which helps a lot with on stage monitoring. For the situations where there's no PA or I want more power, I'll take the full rig. Then all hell breaks loose! Tight, powerful bottom end and clarity everywhere you stand in the venue. The LMII is a limited edition version so I think this adds more value. Only 500 were made and they were each checked over and signed by Marco De Virgiliis himself! It's 600 watts RMS at 4 ohm and 300 watts RMS at 8 ohm. Here’s more info on the special edition of this amp: http://www.musicians...on-08-bass-head I bought it off somebody here on Basschat a few years ago, here is the original thread: http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1 Bought the Genz cabs off a friend around the same time. They are the carpeted version: http://www.musicians...t#productDetail Everything has been extremely well looked after. Some very minor cosmetic scratches on the LMII. The cabs have rubber handles – on one the rubber has split a tiny bit but this doesn’t affect the metal handle underneath. It doesn’t make the cab any harder to carry either. Looking to sell the rig as a whole ideally. If that doesn’t work out, I’d be willing to split. Looking for £650 for the whole rig (discount included for buying all at once) If splitting, I’d be looking for £290 for the LMII and £200 for each cab. Collection from DA5 3AS, Bexley, Kent. Willing to ship at buyers expense. Here’s my feedback thread on Basschat: http://basschat.co.u...-for-robmayzes/ PHOTOS HERE: https://www.dropbox....GfjYBi9Zca?dl=0 (Wouldn't let me upload photos to post for some reason) Thanks for reading
 5. Will post at buyers expense or you can collect from Bexley, Kent (London Zone 5). Also willing to drop it off within a mile or two for free or further if buyer pays petrol.
 6. Unfortunately I need to sell this to get some cash It's an amazing pedal, hours of fun have been had. I used it in a Royal Blood style band, this is exactly what you need to reach that sound. I had a Micro POG before and this is so much better. You can of course get those crazy organ sounds and god knows what else out of this as well! I bought it for £160 a couple of months ago so looking to move it on for about the same price as it has only been used at home, never used live. It's in amazing condition (see photos). Doesn't come with a power supply, but it's the standard 3.5mm 9V (it didn't come with a supply when I bought it and I use a Pedal Power to get juice to all my pedals) Enjoy! I've sold quite a lot of stuff on here before, check out my feedback thread: http://basschat.co.u...-for-robmayzes/
 7. Thanks julietgreen. I have used multiple choice questions in other surveys, but this one is more qualitative than quantitative. We are looking for interesting responses and have asked open ended questions so that we don't lead people to a certain answer! Definitely takes longer to analyse, but it's worth it if you're after interesting comments as opposed to numbers.
 8. Thank you so much everyone! You have no idea how useful all that info is
 9. Hi everyone, I recently posted a survey on this forum that got a number of amazing responses. Firstly I just wanted to express my extreme gratitude to everyone who filled it out! We got some highly valuable feedback that has led to quite a large change in course. I'm working with another new tech startup that also targets musicians, this time more with a focus on recording studios and rehearsal spaces. They are also conducting market research, so I offered to help them out. I thought this would be a great place to get some help and advice - we would be eternally grateful if you could spare just a couple of minutes filling out the survey! They're musicians themselves and are trying to build something that benefits all musicians, rehearsal space/studio owners and engineers. To do this, they need as much feedback as possible - please help us create something that could make all of our lives a bit easier! Thanks so much Here is the survey, it takes 2-3 minutes but you can leave most of the answers blank if you don't have enough time: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1ybL2vTDpgLhvEVDaQAMDsSHdUkuFlCyQJkLeD3BBZnI/viewform?fbzx=2886006738339960962
 10.
Would this have implications upon the Owners to be able to prove that equipment meets any necessary electrical safety standards (current PAT test cert for example) before lending it out? If I lent out my TNT combo in an electrically unsafe condition, and somebody got injured or there was an electrical fire as a direct result, I suspect that a contract that attempted to place the responsibility for said injury/damage soley onto the Renter might be viewed as patently unfair (and therefore null and void) if it was tested in court. Maybe it would be worth investigating the possibility of providing short term PLI for Renters as part of the website service.
These are good points, will look in to the possibility of PLI for all members. There will definitely be plenty of work for our lawyers!
Personally, the idea of being able to rent gear sounds quite appealing, it could cure GAS. The thought of renting my gear out is far less appealing however, and if I had to pay a large deposit to rent, is sooner take a punt and just buy. I could imagine some people may be interested though, so good luck!
Hi Damonjames, thanks for the feedback! Certainly great for GAS. We are planning to offer cover ourselves so that deposits are not necessary (or at most a 30% deposit). Thanks a lot!
 11.
Done the survey , I've often thought about buying a decent lightweight pa for pubs and halls and hiring it out when we don't use it
Thanks for your comment lojo, and thanks for filling out the survey. This is one of the reasons we thought a site like this might be useful. I bought a PA and wanted to earn the money back through rental, but found Gumtree and other methods highly ineffective.
When it comes to lending out equipment/hiring rehearsal space, I would only consider doing it doing it to people that I know to be competant, and can somewhat trust - unfortunately some people don't have any respect for things they don't personally own, and the risk of an idiot trashing amps/PA etc that I need to fulfill my own commitments is unacceptable, so I would only consider dry renting through an anonymous web service something like my old Peavey TNT combo (which isn't really a piece of expensive equipment that an aspiring musician couldn't afford).
Thank you so much for your feedback! I am exactly the same, and know how disrespectful people can be. This is why we have predicted that a strong focus on a site review system would be needed, especially when it comes to more complicated equipment. You wouldn't want any old idiot renting your favourite valve amp, but a local musician who has a high number of positive reviews that you get to meet in person before deciding might be more appealing. On the other hand, if you do have old equipment that isn't so valuable, it might be beneficial to make a few quid lending it out to a young bassist that can't afford a band worthy amp.
Couple of points regarding the T&Cs on the website which are unclear Who is liable in the event that injury or damage is caused to a third party when the rented equipment is in use. What is the position in the case of a third party committing an identity theft and then proceeding to rent equipment with the stolen identity(or a hacked account on the site) and abscond with the rented items.
Thank you for taking a look at the T&Cs - they are only temporary and will be completely re-written if we launch, but I'm very grateful that you raised these points! Renters (those borrowing the equipment) are fully liable for all injury while using the equipment and we will strongly recommend public liability insurance to all users. We provide cover up to £800 for theft and damage, and above that you can take a deposit for the full amount. So, for example, if somebody commits identity fraud (which will be difficult considering the verification methods we have in place, plus PayPals verifications) and steals your equipment, we will pay the full amount to you straight away (or you will already have a deposit) and then we are liable to recover those costs.
 12. If anyone who filled out the survey is interested in taking a quick look at the proposed site, you can see it here: www.soundswap.co.uk Thank you again to everyone who filled it out!
 13. All feedback is good feedback, thank you so much for your time!! And thank you to everyone else who has completed the survey anonymously.
I've just completed the survey - can't imagine why somebody would lend gear to somebody they don't know...
Money is the main answer. There are a lot of struggling musicians with expensive gear that could be helping them pay the bills. But, of course, everyone is different, and to some people sentimental value is priceless; personally there are one or two instruments that I would never rent out, but more that I would.
 14. Hi bluejay, thanks for the advice. Here is a short survey that I have been spreading around if anybody has a minute: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1uRY6q7T0DCyo3CWJxfE6lph50qjQPQpqw5uzIKvWl6g/viewform I have surveyed hundreds of people already, but have found that nothing is better for research than an open ended chat!
 15. Haven't tried the Darkglass, but can't recommend the VT Bass enough. I often gig around London so it's very difficult to get an amp around. All I need is my bass and this great little pedal to get a great sound through any PA. It's also worked really well in the studio. I usually use it more for tone than distortion and always get compliments on the sound.
