1. Price or Trade Value : £300 hi, heres some images of the bass , instrument in good overall condition , frets original , slight dings on 13th fret , straight neck, truss rod working ,short scale of approx. 30 inches or 75cm. all electrics in amazing original clean condition with no scratchiness at all. blue hammerite finish which has worn in places & a couple of dings in the body. hopf used bolt on type necks with a worm insert in the neck heel which is why the neck joint is still very solid after 50+ years .there were originally 3 domed screw covers on the neck joint bolts but these are no longer present but could possibly be found in a hardware store as they are the type of thing used on furniture screws. the bass weighs in at only 2.5 kilos but has a big 60s authentic sound with a suprising number of different tones available with the 2 selector switches. scratch plate is anodised aluminium with de-bossed control indicators & hopf logo . scratchplate has replacement screws holding it to the body. all other hardware, screws etc. are original. I have 4 or 5 of the original scratch plate screws which I will include with the instrument. here are some images of the bass , check out how clean the electrics & pickups are. thanks for looking price £300 i am a brit but im living in poland at present & posting the bass from here will be no problem . images......... .http://s1191.photobu...%20%20circa1962
postage of the hopf bass to countries = France, Germany & U.K will be £30 insured up to £500
 5. serial number is 1351, as wal started numbering these basses from 1111 it makes it the 240th bass that wal produced . if ive got my facts right .
 6. hi, sorry but I don't want to trade this bass. cheers .
 7.
I'm thinking that must be a re-finish? I only remember gloss (natural, sunburst or solid black) finishes on the old Pro basses. Very nice look!
I reckon the body has had a refinish at some point in the past too ,if it has, its a proper pro job ... but the neck has the characteristic deep laquer cracking that is usual on these 70s wals see pics of back of headstock .im 100% sure that the neck has never been touched. cheers.
 8.
She's a beaut! May I ask where you are based?
im based in Poland near Poznan at present & the bass is here, I did send a wal custom from here a few months ago , that I sold through basschat & it arrived there with no problems.
 9.
Can't see the pics while at work, but I've been after a Wal Pro (pref a Pro 11 passive) for longer than I can remember, although I'll admit I don't know whether I'd get on with the forearm contour anymore. Bad timing though (isn't it always?). EDIT: Just checked out the pics. Lovely!
im in Poland at the moment , I sold my wal custom a few months ago & posted it to a guy in Holland with the post from here & it got there fine .
 10. selling my beloved wal pro bass. made in 1979, bass is in great condition , lovely straight neck with rosewood fingerboard, with only a couple of small dings to the rear which are barely noticeable & certainly not noticeable when playing .carbon fibre inserts are clearly visible at top end of headstock . body is black stained ash with the classic wal black scratch plate which is in perfect condition , completely undamaged. active electronics with bass cut & pick attack filter switches ( to the right of pickup) chromed hardware , Schaller machine heads nicely aged . bass gives a good variety of sounds with the 2 filters & is pretty impressive for a single pickup instrument. the pro series have a slightly warmer , less synthetic sound than the custom series but to be honest theres not much in it really. like the later custom basses this one is really quiet due to the graphite lined electronics cavity , it was designed as a proper studio instrument. with the bass is a slightly later wal hard shell case with a fluffy grey interior . im going to miss this bass a lot .sorry but no trades . for images please click on this link , thanks for looking http://s1191.photobucket.com/user/customstocker/library/wal%20pro1e%20bass%20guitar

Go to "Introductions" and introduce yourself, tell people what you're doing...you might also want to put your details in the "affiliates" thread.. For everybody else..Martin is a great guy, working as a luthier in Europe..he handmade a set of pick ups for a friend of mine - the friend says they're as good as anything else he uses - that includes Barts and SDs. Trade in confidence.. Mick
cheers for that , martin . !

 15. hi, just to let everyone know , the wal fretless is now sold . thanks for all the posts & comments ...customstocker
 16. hi, with regret , selling my wal custom 4 string bass circa 1987 ( waller & stevens era ) with wenge facingsover a mahogany core & lovely straight neck , electronics, body , mechanics .....everything works great with no issues . please note that the previous owner had the neck changed on this bass by wal to a fretless ,info in electronics cavity shows that the original neck had a rosewood fingerboard . the neck has a lovely ebony fingerboard with side dot markers, including the all important 1st fret position . this makes playing a doddle for those of us scared by a fingerboard that is devoid of all face markings. set up with ernie ball flatwound strings , after alot of deliberation i have decided to keep my more simple wal pro 1e with a single pickup . ive got too many projects here & not enough space , hence the sale . for images please click on .................... http://photobucket.com/walcustombass im looking for £2400 for this bass, for this price i will include the hiscox liteflite case in the pictures . postage is possible . please contact me for details , thanks .
