Well, in return I can offer you two responses,
A: I am not a massively huge Jaco fan either and only discovered him probably mid to late 90's and way after Mick Karn so I am unbiased on both despite being more receptive to Jaco's playing.
B: When there's Pino and Giblin to listen to, why would you listen to Karn, it's like drinking water when you could drink Whiskey 🤣

Probably going to be an unpopular opinion but I'm not a huge fan of Mick's playing despite growing up in the 80's and the fretless bass being my main instrument. There's absolutely no doubt his talent, technical ability and musicianship is incredible and he has to be considered as one of the top fretless bassist's but his playing is just a little too qwerky and disjointed for my enjoyment. I also never liked Japan for this reason as well. I'm very much in the camp of more melody and harmony and why I associate more with the likes of Pino and Giblin. Likewise, Jaco sounds more melodic to my ears despite not being a huge listener of his playing.
Bizarrely enough, last year someone came up to me after a gig and said he could hear Mick Karn influences in my playing which I put down to growing up listening to 80's music thanks to my two sisters and my friend being a huge Japan fan. I guess I was just absorbing what I was hearing. Either way, I went home and started listening to all the Mick Karn stuff I had and I still struggled with it.
As for Mick vs Jaco, for me you can't compare, Mick had his style and Jaco had his, equally as talented and equally brilliant.

I'm 53 and have done thousands of gigs. Some years its only being about 10 a year, others 30 to 40 and a few years ago, well over 100. So I'm always playing a practising. I would also say that I play every day, anything from 10 mins to 3 - 4 hours. The last few years, I'm playing about 40 gigs a year and we rehearse every Tuesday. However, what I do find is the following day after a gig, I'm waking up with a sore neck/shoulder and sometimes a headache. Its probably an age thing and a tension headache bought on from the sniff neck and shoulder. Prior to Friday's gig, the last gig I played was November 16th so a few months back so the following day was particularly noticeable for a headache and stiff neck and shoulders.

Everything is played for laughs. It's the same reason why I don't get on with Frank Zappa, Steely Dan, or any of those "zany" US bands and artists. The whole is so inauthentic and the whole aesthetic they have grates on me.
Instrumentally, they're absolutely on point, but what are they trying to say or achieve with any of it? It all seems as hollow and empty as the kind of lift muzak you used to here while shopping.
But, it's their journey, and they're selling out stadiums to audiences who adore it, so good for them.
I can relate to this and no hate from me but it does just seem like lift music or a technical exercise. I never come away humming any sort of melody or tune, its all very forgettable despite being technically brilliant.

The top one is called Sting as it's the same as Sting's maple fretless Precision he has in the 70's. The next one is called Starburst as my wife thinks the sunburst looks like a starburst. Next down is called Lisa after my favourite violinist called Lisa Germano and finally the Stingray is called Pino for obvious reasons.

The P-Bass for me, it sounded wonderful. The surprise for me was the Jazz and how it sounded very generic and not very Jazz like. I would have expected a little more variety in its tone.

Yep, exactly, theres a shop near me that has a new one up for £399 and online, another has one for £399. Youd be crazy to pay more for one second hand.

I'm thinking of selling my Dakota Red 40th Anniversary Vintage Precision as I haven't used it and won't have any need for it as I only play fretless. It's just sat at home being unused so I might as well sell it on to someone who can get some use out of it.
What do we think these are worth second hand? The only reference I can find is a couple of places with new ones that are up for £399.

Its 8ohms and rated at 200 watts I think. So probably about 160w with 280w Gnome combo. Sounds wonderful as well.

I also have one and have gigged mine through a Barefaced Two10 and its mighty loud and sounds fab. I'm super happy with mine and the sound it makes is excellent. I've just purchased a TC Electronics 2x8 cab for a smaller rig and it again sounds epic. I've also gigged this setup as well and it was brilliant.
My only complaints with this little head is I wish it had a speakon connection rather than a jack but its not a biggy but more so, I with it had a mute button. They are awesome little heads though and so loud.

They're not too bad and one of my basses is strung with Rotosound flats so I know what you mean but they are higher tension than the LaBella's.

I wonder if it's because my flats are low tension and my black nylon tapes are even less tension where as my rounds are Rotosound rounds and from feel, do feel higher tension. Also, with flats being smoother, it's easier to generate vibrato.
