Hi
Sorry if this has been covered before. I'd like to know more about the insides of amps so that I can start to do services and repairs. Any reference books or manuals out there that would be good for a beginner?
-
Ok I looked back a few times...
-
Sold my Matamp GT200 when I got my MkIV, never looked back.
-
sounds like a great way to blow up a few amps
-
These are, in my opinion, the ultimate basses. Love mine.
-
damn, what I'd give to put my v4 on 2ohms and run it through both those cabs.
-
can you connect this to a single 4ohm cab?
-
Nope old Peavey stuff is absolute garbage stay away.
that way it'll stay cheap for the rest of us. -
Nice bass, great colour combo. is the rosewood really light or is it just the lighting/flash?
-
Never had nickel before (these came with a new bass) - bit too bright for me, bit too much high end - but the black looks really nice.

Does anyone know what they are?
Black, roundwound, with coloured cloth at each end... -

Wait, aren't you the guy who asked for advice before, and then just did what you were going to do anyway..?

haha yes, I need to surround myself with sycophants who reinforce my opinions and actions...
BUT hey I learnt about the clip on, so this thread has been A+ -
Pitch black looks good, but I think I'll grab a TU-3 because you can also use it as a splitter into 2 amps, which is useful for studio and messing around with amps.
Will probably grab a TC clip-on for around the house too - they look awesome.
thanks all... -
Probably am looking for a pedal but I have to say that's an impressive bit of kit for £35!!
-
link to a good one?

Should I get the same again or is there something better out there? -

risk management. -
Thanks for your advice, I'm going to do it anyway.
-
I've been told by most that this is a massive no no (and I've never done it) - but I've also been told it's ok.
What's the risk? is it ever ok?
Just realised I don't have a proper cable and I want to do some playing... -
I have an original and even I'm tempted at that price!
Would be keen to know if the reissues have the same grind/darkness that the originals have.
Listen to the intro to Blew for an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7J37mp0JJCE -
great basses! Nice and light with no sacrifice of tone... glwts
-
played with one of these yesterday in the studio - maybe the best bass amp I've ever used (and I can't believe I'm saying this about a trace elliot).

Funny how everyone is saying 'no' apart from the 1 person who has actually done this?

Are you a beginner in amp repair or in electronics generally?
