Sorry the cab is 800w @ 4ohms
-
Hi. I'm getting into the pre/power game.
Only have one cab (ATM) @ 600w but would like to push it to the limit.
Not sure if this is a factor but needs to handle a lot (a lot) of fuzz and drive.
Pairing with ampeg pre.
Older sh stuff is fine by me -

what's in your zilla?
-
I think my ideal number of knobs is 6 - gain, vol, bass, mid, mid sweep, high. That's perfection for me - not sure if I've ever found this though.
-
Awesome - I think 70s Ps really have the best body shape.
-
I need them, thanks for reading.

embrace the mushroom rig!

If you want an old 'green russian' muff sound (imo, great for bass), go for a frederics effects green muff - http://www.fredric.co.uk/green-russian-sovtek-clone

this!!! great amps i had a mark iv and a vi back in the day, both awesome amps, if they can nail that in a lightweight format ill be all over it.
Maybe just me, but my mark iv IS a lightweight format! it's a dead easy 1-handed lift (though a bit lopsided...
Maybe it's because I'm a reformed GT200 and V4 owner... but the mk iv is just not that heavy. -
looking forward to buying these for £100 in 5 years time

Leon at Grizzly Guitars on Hackney Road... he's a master.

I have a '78 ... the last bass you'll ever own.
-
Cool, I guess I'll look out for offers.
Gumtree is fine, but there's just not the same reach (just shipped 1 item to Sweden and 1 to LA - struggled to sell either on gumtree). Plus the weirdo/d*ckhead/tim waster issue is just getting a bit much for me.
But I guess with eBay you do have resolution and paypal also gives you some cover for some things.
Just something I'll factor in next time I guess.
But still, 10% of postage - come on. -

And some users have a moan about the selling fees on BC. It's a total bargain.
It cost me ~£20 in paypal fees alone for ONE transaction of less than £400. -
Wow the fees are off the scale these days. It's been a while for me.
I knew about the 10% final price fee, but to pay 10% of the postage cost as well is outrageous! Shipped something to Sweden for £35 and had to pay eBay for the privilege.
And also got stung by paypal as well!
Lesson learned for sure - add about 20% to what I really want for the item... -
I still record with tubes though!
-
This is my main amp now. Sold all my tube stuff.
It feels light to me though! Compared to my old GT200 and ampeg V4 anyway, it's a 1 handed lift - total dream. -

During sound check last night I put the DI cable into the 'pre amp out' by accident (never did that before). It cuts out all sound to the cabinet.
Does this mean I can use the 'pre amp out' for DI recording without having a cabinet attached?
Always assumed it was a big no no, but's it's solid state, and if there's no power to the cabinet then is there no risk of damage to the head? -
delicious

For silent practise I recommend a vox amplug.

A good starter book is "Complete Guide to Guitar and AMP Maintenance" which covers the basics of biasing, fault finding and minor repairs (also covers the basics of guitar maintenance as well) - http://www.amazon.co.uk/books/dp/0793534909/
