1. Is it in relation to the breaker on e bay ??? they are very 80's looking, limited number made, some maple bodies, heavy, some alder or ash, same as the el toro with two slim 4 pole humbuckers per string, the switches are as per g&l except for the middle switch which is normal mode or wtf ? or omg mode, its kinda both pups running in kill mode, necks are factory options but not the skinny number 8. if you open up the electrics theres so much in there your mind goes...

  2. Hi, Thanks thats great, ive ordered 2 alpha 250 k pots, interestingly my L2k usa models have a 2 meg reverse log bass pot, so they do have a little difference there for some reason, but maybe theres a cap added or somthing, who knows.

  3. @ Protium, It came gutted so ive no idea,

@neepheid, thank you, I do have this diagram already, but it says usa models only, so im thinking the jap and korean ones are possibly different, or maybe not, otherwise I will use that diagram.

    Thanks. :)

  4. Hi I got a gutted trib L2k, Im now rewiring it and it takes split shaft pot but does anyone know the values, I think the bass is 1 meg but im not sure on the treble and vol, as I think it a bit different to the usa modles, but...might not be ! thanks.

  5. I use 2 1x12 neos and popped one, thomman too dear and complicated as there was a warrantee issue and couldnt sort it unless I returned the cab to germany...oh dear!, polar as much use as a turd and over priced and novice to the gk scene, bob gallien and his team suck, many e mails and got nowhere, as it was still in warranty, so I put a 300w celestion neo in it at £74, the two cabs sound the same, job done, get on with gigging, I love gk but hate their attitude and aftersales outside the us.

  6.
I'm interested in the 1989 Fender signature thing as I have an '89 L-1000 with Leo Fender signature on. Anyone know more about this controversy?
Ive a few with the leo fender sig logo on the headstock decal, just though it was his way of saying, look its me ???

  7.
One problem i have with the G&L's is that the quality just isn't consistent. Don't know if this was just me, but i have played 5, and owned one.. Some were great and others were shocking.. (all USA not tribute) Unfortunately the one i owned wasn't the best of the bunch. My problem with them is the electronics seem to be trying to be too clever, so when mine went a bit haywire, could'nt find anyone willing to delve into the maze of wires. Saying that the great ones were great, love the finishes they do.

In my opinion, if you choosing between a tribute G&L and Stingray - stingray wins everytime. If you are choosing between USA g&l and stingray, try both and see how they feel.. i really would think twice about buying a g&l online without playing it... but you could say that about any bass :S

i think im trying to say, try both guitars lol!
    sorry, ive confused myself
I cant complain about consistancy as ive purchased used instruments and theyve been fine, the pre amps had a problem with the main chip frying in the early 90's but they sorted that, theres really no more active stuff in them than 1 pcb and the associated pots etc... and ive rewired 2 of mine no probs, not too bad and about the same inside the cavity as a ray, the only nightmare was the el toro / interceptor, it seems to have tons of caps n wiring. some of the body weights are an issue, they go from around 9 lb's to 14 lb's depending on the wood.

  8. It might have been me you mentioned, L2k, passive, active, active with treble boost, 2 x mfd pups, front, both or back and a series parallel switch, countoured body, rays do too but mines a slab body, ray vol, bass n treble, flat battery no bass, or the later more eq model, I like the fact theres a g&l Issue with bassists cos then the rest of us get a bargain. as for pup comparisons, theres nowt weak about the g&l mfd in comparison to the ray pup whatsoever, plus the way leo did the reverse log bass pot and treble bleed wiring means theres some amazing sounds in an L2k you wont find in a ray.

  9. I have 2 gk 12 neos, one went pop and due to the crap and overpriced nonsense from gk and tohmann I opted for a celestion 300x neo, great speaker, affordable and you cant tell it apart from the twice price gk eminence. it was 74 quid.

  10.
I wonder where all the Fenders and MMs built in the 60s (not MM, obviously) and 70s have gone? Has somebody been using them for firewood?
So many attics, so many spaces in spare rooms and under beds, it keeps me awake at night... :)

  11. .....oooh, if the colour was right, you dont mind the headstock, the neck was right and the weight was right.....Yes ! but try first, there are better sounds in the MFD pups than a ray, plus the passive side is sweet too. :)
