1.
A very handsome couple - congratulations!! Quirky but yet strangely attractive. I love these stories about something being kept under a bed/in a cupboard - I always think/hope I might benefit from something like that - at a good price though! Great post.
Keep looking, they are out there. Not neccessarily at a good price though!! :)

  2.
Congratulations, gorgeous (er, not you obviously).
The work you put into your collection does you proud.
    Karl.
Thanks Karl, it is rather time consuming, and ridiculously addictive!!, oh, and just for the record, i am also gorgeous.

  3.
Hi Rick,
    I use http://photobucket.com/
It's free and all you have to do is create an account and then upload photos from your computer onto your account.
You can then copy and paste the website link address onto here and a nice large photo will appear in your post. E.g.:

Thanks, sounds too easy to be true!!!

I'll have a gander later, and see what i can do.

Do the images stay there indefinitely, or do they time-lapse?

  4.
Just beautiful Rick and what a collection you've got!
Do you have any picture links you could show with some more of your collection?

    Cheers,
    Jon
Thanks Jon, i have detailed pictures of all my basses, but sadly, I'm not very I.T. friendly, if there is a simple way of uploading pictures, then i could certainly put them all on???. In the meantime, if there is a particular instrument/pic you'd like to see, let me know, and i can get one posted on here.

I'm aware of things like Image Shack etc, but not sure exactly how they work? Although I'm sure its fairly simple. Is there an Image Host Site that you would recommend??

    Appreciate the comments.

  5.
I love the pink paisley one...

Actually I love both of them!
Thanks, thats how i was with it, i was enquiring as to the Paisley, without knowing at that point, they also had the blue flower, as they'd just got them in, as soon as i saw the pics, and heard the story, i just had to have them both.

  6.
What a spectacularly excellent find.

Hope I do as well when my Vintage P bass search reaches a conclusion.

So will you gig them or are they to be admired and kept safe and sound indoors?
Sadly, these are too valuable to take on the road, but they'll get plenty of play-time in mi casa.

What vintage P are you after?, PM me, i may be able to help you find what you're looking for?

    Thanks for the comments.

  7.
They look very happy together :)

    Uber kool :)
Thanks, to be honest, i couldnt really stretch to both, and originally wanted the paisley, but as they were bought together on the same day, i felt the need to keep them together. Obviously the blue flower is the rarer one, and I wanted one....... eventually, i knew i'd regret not taking the opportunity of getting the pair. I'm very glad i did though, they are just amazing in the flesh, never seen better examples.

  8.
Cool! You do pick up some mega collectible basses - how do you do it??
Keen eye, and lots of deep digging and searching. Theres some good stuff out there (Almost all of which is in the US though!). Knowing specifically what you want helps, and try not to get distracted by other goodies. I have a list of stuff i want, which is proving rather expensive, better than money in banks though, and alot more fun!!

    Thanks for the comment.

  9. After much deliberation, negotiation, and waiting, i finally collected my latest addition to the Arsenal.

1968 Pink Paisley, and 1968 Blue Flower Telecaster Basses.

These were purchased new, on the same day, by the previous owner. Apparently, he played them for a year, then, when they became unfashionable, they were retired, in their cases, and under the bed.

They are the best examples of these i have seen. The Paisley has no lacquer cracks at all, the Blue Flower one does, but all the paper is intact, most flowers have half the wallpaper missing.

Not everyones cup of tea granted, but they play great, sound fantastic, and from a Fender Bass collectors perspective, they are both in the 'Golden 10'.

Thats it for a while now, unless i sell both my kidneys!!

    Here's a couple of pics.

  12.
Hi all - anyone selling a reasonably okay french bow? Looking to spend up to about £400 - something wooden, light and french style, would be nice.

    Cheers :)

    Mike
It's not wooden, but how about this one, it was made in toulouse, definitely a nice, french, bow.

  13.
Congrats on the sale. Think thats the most pricey bass I've seen sold on BassChat (although it sounds like it wasn't to a BassChatter). Stunning bass and the new owner is one lucky dude!
Thanks Clarky, no it wasnt to a bass chatter, he is lucky, got it for a great price, as i needed the funds towards my latest purchase, which is now secured, and in transit from the US, should be with me by the end of next week. At which point, all being well, i will be posting details of in the 'gear porn' section.

I'm like a kid who just got his dream bike for christmas!! Just hope it all works out! LOL

  14.
as far as I know the finish is original , I've had the bass for a while and it was bought from a dealer , under the scratchplate is much the same as this : http://www.eddievegas.com/store/details/19...ASS-1-OWNER.php

Also with the tuners , I have no reason to think they are replacements , what make you think they are ? (I know 1 screw on one tuner is not original as it was missing when I bough the bass so I replaced it myself)

any other comments welcome , I'll try and get better photo's up if anyone is actually interested in buying ?
The finish under your scratchplate is 3-tone sunburst, as the exposed parts of the body. On the link you quote (Eddie Vegas), the area under the scratchplate is 2-tone, as should be. The note someone else states about the paint stick mask, is also visible on the Eddie Vegas Bass, and not yours.

Comments by others on the tuners are correct, also, an easy way of telling, is on the number of threads on the shaft, original tuners show about 3-5 turns (Depending on the angle viewed), the reissues have a dozen or so, like yours.

The tuners are definitely not original, and in my opinion (Based purely on the pics, an in-hand inspection may prove very different indeed), it has been refinished, although this could have been 40 years ago of course, if it looks old to you.

Still a fantastic bass, even if it has been refin'd.

  15.
Anybody ever seen one, or did i dream it ?
As the guys say, it was the '53 to '56 Gibson EB1's that had the spike, definitely not the Fenders.

Wouldn't these need a curved board though, to play it upright, otherwise it would be near impossible to play, no? I've only played one EUB, and a double bass, both have curved boards, not flat, like a P???

  16.
Have a "if I sell my car and all my over stuff I still don't think I could quite afford this :) " bump!
Thanks Chris, i think it's going anyway, have a very keen buyer coming over at the weekend, which, if it comes off, paves the way for my next, and probably, final, purchase!
