I'd recommend the Protection Racket 7051 all day long, but it mostly goes from house to car (5 yards) then from car to rehearsal room (5 yards). I can imagine it being literally a pain in the arse if you had to use it rucksack-fashion over any distance, though. :)

Yeah, it's not the most handsome looking case out of the bunch

2. I own a Protec and I have to say.. I'm looking for a more comfortable alternative. The Protec is hard wearing but the velcro has given up on the handle. I walk a fair bit, say about a hour? and my back seriously knows it when I turn up for rehearsals. So who's using what, over long distances?

Need some advice before I make a expensive mistake!

3. Not getting the use this underrated bass deserves

Butterscotch Blonde
Pine body
Maple fingerboard/neck

Growls how it should
Has a nice slim fast neck
Plays like butter
Small amount of wear from playing nothing major
Strung with some fairly fresh d'addario pro steels

4. Not using this since I got my Ampeg SVT VR so she deserves a new home

Here's what ampeg say about it

Ampeg’s SVT-6PRO combines all the beautiful tone of tubes with the solid-state reliability of a MOSFET output stage, to provide massive output and a virtually unlimited tone palette. An onboard 4-Band Semi-Parametric EQ section gives you +/-18dB of adjustment per band, so you can dial in even the most subtle tonal nuances. And the power amp section delivers a whopping 1100 watts RMS at 4 ohms! SVT-6PRO also features built-in Compression at the input stage, and a Tube Voltage control for adjusting the response of the power amp driver tubes.

RMS Power Output (8 Ohms): 750-Watts
RMS Power Output (4 Ohms): 1100-Watts
Preamp: Tubes (2 x 12AX7)
Driver Tubes: 2 x 12AU7, 2 x 12AX
Tube Voltage Control

It's used, carries a few battle scars and a little beaten up It could probably benefit from a service. Everything's working as it should though. It sounds fantastic. With 4 sweepable mid ranges its been one of the most versatile amps I've ever owned.

5. This just isn't me any more so it's going up for sale!

The cab it's self is in fantastic condition. It's very loud. I've never pushed it hard and I've never needed too. It sounds crystal clear, punchy and fat. I can lift this cab on my own fairly easy. It only weights 44.6kg!

6 ohms
front ports
1" compression driver with custom horn
1200W RMS

I got the flight case made up to keep it nice and protected in the back of the van. Loverly case and nice snuggly fit. Unfortunately during a load out, someone left the door to the inputs, on the back of the case unhinged. So as it got wheeled off the catch for the door bucked slightly. I'l also grab some pictures of this but I'm working on fixing it.

I'm practically giving this absolute pillar of sound away

I NEED THIS GONE £400

Thanks man. I think from the website the GAK ones may be MIJ? Or at least the photo is MIJ; perhaps the specs refer to the newer MIM? (http://www.gak.co.uk/en/fender-marcus-miller-jazz-bass-natural-maple/15834)

Whilst searching for the Marcus MIller, I tried an ash/maple Fender USA Deluxe today. A very well made and crispy sounding bass. Fender have really upped their game in the last few years. Another USA Precision I tried sounded really great too, very resonant. Both had great feeling necks.

What didn't you like about the Marcus Miller, Dan?

I tried the 4 Stringer MIM in GAK, they had a new different models of the 5er. I'm not really so hot on the Marcus basses but one of them had some lovely gold/brass frets and the one I tried out was diffidently a MIM - 1 peice pick guard etc

I wasn't sure about it because it just felt a bit bland. Nothing was jumping out at me. In passive I wasn't a fan at all. It might have been the amp I was going in to. Not a huge fan of orange. It just didn't seem the same as the jap one on tried a few moths before. The build quality was nice though. Tried out the fender Japan JB66j and that blew it out of the water!
