Oh, and 90125 is a great album too, I don't care who disagrees. 😝
Trevor Rabin 🙂 ... I'm not really a fan of the Yes albums after the 70s, but Rabin was a great player. And I saw him playing with Rabbitt in the 70s.

The Fahn Fahn Fahn of the Autobahn seems to make more sense?
I really hope you are kidding.

I see it's being performed in Germany.
I dare say there will be a few Krautrock purists who think the change has come too soon!
That made me laugh. Well done. Lucky I'd finished my tea.

Re hearing WoL in a soundtrack, it's always seemed something of an oddity that it wasn't in An American Werewolf in London?
Yes, a bit odd indeed. It did, however, appear in a great scene in 'The Color of Money' when Tom Cruise was doing some of his 'voodoo sh*t' at the pool table 😁
I've always loved that song. The rhythm guitar is great, as is the album it comes from, 'Excitable Boy'. Edit: as I now notice has shown up on every link above 🙄

Absolutely - this is one of my faves.
Indeed, I was just thinking of that very song.

Also bass player on the Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour, a fantastic live double album.
Also on 'Derek and the Dominos in Concert', another great live album (IMO).

I guess the most notable would have been Police and Thieves by the Clash.
Lee Perry apparently gave his verdict: "They ruined it"
Yes, I like the Clash but theirs is not my favourite version of that song.

Did I ever mention the late Lucky Dube? I was lucky enough to see him close-up at an open air gig in Jo'burg in about 1993. I can't find a live video of decent quality, but the audio on this one is OK ...

My late mother-in-law knew him when they worked together at Radio Bremen. He was still known as Hansi Last then.

I didn’t really get Placebo at first but then rediscovered them a few years later and they are now one of my favourite bands,I've always liked Placebo and was lucky enough to see them live in Mannheim in about 2002. They were great 🙂

Bryan Adams. I'm not a fan but my ex took me along to see him in Mannheim in about 2002. 3-piece band with Adams on bass.

Man, I can't believe that he is that old. I am a big admirer despite not being (or having been in the past) in particular a 'country' fan. If anyone has an interest in reading about Willie, I'd recommend his book 'Roll Me up and Smoke Me When I Die' which is a lot of fun. He also features strongly in 'The Improbable Rise of Redneck Rock' which I picked up on my only (so far) trip to Austin, and which I see is now out of print. And I have a t-shirt which my dad bought for me at a Willie gig in North Carolina. A lot of good Highwaymen stuff on YouTube, too.

Nice Bassline @pigface , and what a great story ,similarly, my neighbor knocked on my door a while ago and I thought it was to complain about the bass, but she said, can you tell me what song that is that you are playing only I really like that 😄, it was this tune 🙂
Yes, people can surprise you sometimes 🙂 That's a good tune. No wonder she liked it.

In 1983 I was a student living in a commune with 4 other students. We were in the habit of listening to loud reggae (Black Uhuru, Jimmy Cliff, Scientist, Third World, Gregory Isaacs and many more) amid clouds of ganja smoke. One day, our neighbour approached us. He was a youngish chap with a wife and young kids, and of conservative demeanour. We were expecting a complaint about the loud music, but instead he accepted a hit or two and produced a cassette tape which included, among other things, this:

I just bought strings from them. Received them in less than 2 days. I am in Germany, though.

I've had 2 of these this week, one identical to @gareth's above, and one a bit different. I've only had one before, several months ago now. The latest ones may be as a result of the 'Data Enrichment Exposure From PDL Customer' breach which showed up on https://haveibeenpwned.com.

Sad news indeed. He was a friend of a friend of mine, who is also a singer-songwriter in that genre and location. The BBC also erroneously reported a few days ago on the 'live' feed that he had died, while he was still alive, before amending the story to remove his name several hours later.

You mean there are radio stations other than Radio 4??
Check this out. A friend sent me this link. (It is safe. I'm using it right now).
"Open the following link. You will see the entire earth. There are numerous green spots around the earth. These green dots are local radio stations. Touch the green dot and play the local radio station. It is overwhelming. You can listen to any radio station in the world!

Blimey, you have just opened up a whole genre that makes me smile - Hill Street Blues theme, Taxi (Bob James), Chuck Mangione, Sadao live at the Budokan, the list could go on and on!
Glad you approve 🙂 Spyrogyra would probably fit in with that lot, too. Morning Dance in particular.

'Good for all night' by Sadao Watanabe. An instrumental rather than a song as such, but still rather cheers me up. Sorry about the duff picture but it's the only one I can find on YouTube. Plenty a-slappin' and a-poppin' for those who like that kind of thing:
Here's great bass cover of the same track by Mark Chiddy. Is Mark perhaps a member here?
Disappointingly short gigs

Prince in Cologne in 2011. The band came on about an hour late, played one song and then left for about 45 minutes with no explanation. It's a while ago so I'm guessing a bit about the durations, but they were long. When they came back, Prince was heard repeatedly to castigate the soundman for 'not doing his job'. The band then played for about an hour, whereupon they left the stage. The stage stayed dark for about 10 minutes, no encore ensued, and then the house lights came up. End of gig, no explanation. The audience were not pleased. As I remember our tickets cost €150 each.
