1.
telling me in front of other customers that he wouldn't do any work on my bass because I bought it from ebay and that ebay is destroying the music business therefopre my using ebay is literally putting him out of business (despite the fact that the bass in question was an early 70's Precision and despite the fact I didn't see any early 70's Precisions amongst the Staggs and OLPs in his shop and despite the fact I was actually bringing him business),
Sounds like a right twat!! :)

Does anyone know if Wizard do active jazz pups and preamps? Also cant find the website...does anyone have a link?

Oh! and does anyone have a shirt to go with this button?......

  2.
Yeah, the nut looks pretty snug. Here's hoping.
Is the string wound quite high on the tuning peg? This would mean theres not enough angle for the nut to work properly

    Just a thought :)

Loving the new avatar mate! You should make your band all go naked except for a red bunnet!

  3.
Four lives, he perforates to you!

    Looks gorgeous.

    Jon.
I hope he doesn`t try and perforate me!!..... ;) I used a language converter to at least try and converse as his english is terrible! Hope I didn`t say anything nasty about his mum as I`ve no idea what I sent back to him :)

Couldn`t paste this link but here`s the item number for the laquered zebrano : 290185585383

I think that would be smart with black hardware and a maple neck.....

  4.
Learning Black Dog for an audition on Monday night and when it goes to the second part of the bass line ( just as it moves away from the initial riff ) it just sounds wrong and out of time/sync.

I know that it can't be because that is how it is supposed to sound but when you listen to it to try to learn it is not easy.

Anyone else had problems learning it ??
Follow the guitar.....then if it sounds crap, look at the drummer and shake your head :)

Just keep playing along with it untill you can feel the changes.

  5.
fer heck's sake... just watch Phil Lynott in action...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rENy7MQIYJs

just watch him when he moves away from the mic and starts throwing shapes with his guitarists and working the crowd...
I`m sure the guitarist in that clip is Brian Robertson. Chainsmoked his way through that whole gig!! Must`ve been about 40 fags!!

He was Scottish as was another member.... Midge Ure :)

  6. You`re forgetting foot on the monitor and "machinegunning" the front row!!

Oldie, but a classic metal move :)

p.s. Also spending 3 hours doing your hair then forgetting to tune your bass as a result of said preening!! (true story)

    p.p.s It wasn`t me!

  7.
Beauty (and what constitutes porn for that matter), is in the eye of the beholder.

You ask for views - to me that is about as "porn" as Anne Widdicombe pleasuring herself. Ive always disliked Gibson style basses.

Im sure someone here will give a differing view.
I dont like Gibson style basses either but I quite like this!. Fancied one of these but I`m a fairly big guy and decided it would look like a eukelele on me.

How about some shots of your Aerodyne Neil and we can have a BASS OFF!! :)

  8.
Yup thats it.I'm struggling with the authenticity of just about all of it.I did'nt dare look at his demo vid though someone did ask for a transcription of the solo.haha.Might ask him some silly questions though.
Beat you to it mate! It was me!! :) Look at the ebay links thread.....

  9.
Even when working as a sound engineer i have encountered sum engineers which are... just rude. For example being told to F off becuase i asked him to make the lead guitar louder than the rhythm guitar..

He did NOT get a pint!
And you took that? Next time that happens...ask him if he fancies eating your bass?

  10.
Yes! It's damn annoying - I used to barely be able to hear myself and I'd get similar comments from people there...so now I get my bassist friend to run sound

Good thing he's the techy type :)
Buy them a pint!! Works for me everytime!!

  11.
What a nightmare, fingers crossed your gear turns up undamaged.

    R.
Because of the specialised nature of the gear...I reckon it`s either on it`s way North or South. A friend of mine had all his bands stuff stolen (in Edinburgh) a few years ago and it turned up in London. Hope you get all your gear back mate :)

  12.
Lots of popular songs but strangely very few that I have done so I will pick and choose the ones to audition with and leave the others until I am in the band ( or not lol )

    Black dog
    Whole lotta love }Led zeppelin
    Since i've been loving you
    Good times roll
    Fire }Jimi Hendrix
    Back in black
    Riff raff }Acdc
Hell ain't a bad place to be

Need your love so bad }Fleetwood mac
For what it's worth }Buffalo Springfield
    The letter }Joe Cocker

Learn them all!! That way it`ll be a band practise not an audition!! :)

  13.
Yes, lovely sound, although I liked the original bass player better... Stuart Zender, was it? What basses did he play?
It was a Warwick Streamer stage 1 fretless (I think) It was for sale on ebay last year. The guy selling it was a really sad hangeron with a bad attitude. Suffice to say it didn`t sell :)

  14.
On several occasions I've met one of my long time favourite Melbourne music chaps, Joe Camilleri and still harbour a wish to play with him in some way; I'm not giving up on this one.
Hello Mate. I recorded a blues album in Joe`s studio in 96. Really nice guy.... Had a crappy Jazz that wasn`t up to much so I asked if I could use his Danelectro longhorn. Took me to a cupboard full of basses and told me to help myself! Kid in a sweetie shop or what?

A drummer mate of mine is looking for a band in Adelaide if you have any connections there he`d appreciate it!

    Dave
