1. Looking for a new bass amp and as such looking to pass on my Mesa Boogie to a new home. The Amp has been racked since i brought it, gigged but never fully cranked, i don't have the footswitch. The basics is its a 360watt Simul-state driven by 2x 12AX7s Active\Passive inputs 5 Band Semi parametric On-board copmressor FX loop, Tuner Separate 'solo' volume The Solo, compressor and the parametric EQ are foot switchable, and the footswtich is available from Mesa, £450 PICS ADDED - Thanks for the interest!
2. I think if you thought you were amazing that would be worse. If your practicing solo or with a band, learning songs or writing bass lines then you'll be amazed as to how good you are. But if you're not practicing, trying to fit a fill in every other bar and consistently tripping over the guitar and vocal lines or playing in a way that detracts from the rest of the band then you'll probably a bad bassist. Its harder to be out of time with a band than in-time i think. Ive rehearsed with one drummer on one day, in the metal band i was in, he'd play heel toe double kicks and blast beats at ridiculous speeds, technically brilliant, and we'd be right on the money in terms of the three musicians being tighter than a dancers chuff, though i admit we were having to use click tracks for the backing vocals etc. So in sense there was no real reason for us to go out of time, The next night i'd rehearse with my covers band filled with guys who play for fun in a garage, having played with such a tight band the night before i was more aware that the drummer speeds-up and slow down when the beat should remain consistant but, on the flip side because the band was "tight" as a single unit it didn't really stand out, i think if i had made a point of staying at the tempo we first started the song at then the groove and feel of the track would have suffered, the guitarists would have been conflicted as to follow me or the drummer. The problem i have in the covers band is if the drummer isn't 'feeling' the track, or is overly tired from work then his groove suffers and that does have a larger impact the rest of the band.
3. If you could wait till the end of the month then id take it off your hands no trouble, but thats at the end of the month so not really good to you now
4.
Isn't there some EU law that everything over 500w has to have SpeakOns nowadays? I 'm sure i spotted something like that somewhere.
No idea Liam, though it wouldn't surprise me, but the walkabout is only 360watts at 4ohms, so maybe it doesn't need to be? :-s
5. I admit i find it odd that in this day and age mesa dont seem to put speakcons on all their heads, and yeah they are stupidly, stuuupidly expensive. I guess they must use unicorn poo as a secret component or something....
6. Hiya chaps, I've been using my Mesa M-pulse 360 for some time now, and to be honest i think its a great amp, more power than i need the bands ive played in especially coupled with my newly aquired Amped 410. i'm lucky in respects my cab lives in our nicely secure and dry rehearsal space and so moving it only when we gig. But i lug my head around to and from rehearsals and after 4 years or so of doing it, id like a lighter alternative. The little mesa m-pulse wlakabout head is basicly the scaled down version of my m-pulse 360, same power, same valves lighter weight. But i cannot find a local stockist that has one to try A\B with my head so i was hoping someone here could offer some opinons as to if there any differences between the two heads etc cheers!
7. Pah! 20-odd days too late! Video looks amazing BTW!
8.
Some idiots pay for some pleb to 'roadwear' their bass. At least this is sort of a 'something-you-can't-do-yourself' finish, unlike roadworn, which anyone with a chisel can do.
Ya don't even need a chisel! All you need is a dodgy handle on Warwick FlightCase and a pavement there ya go! Though i have to admit that you literally need to blow on the Nirvana Black Stain on my Warwick and it rubs off! So at least these finishes look a bit more 'robust'.
9. Ive been thinking very hard about it, since I've started reading about the Genz Benz range i liked the simplicity of the streamliner, I've tried the TC RH450 and it was a great amp, though i found the highs a smudge harsh and i think ill end-up spending more time tweaking the thing than enjoying the sound, ill have to try ands find a GB stockist fairly local...
10. Hola guys & gals, I've been using a Mesa-Boogie m-pulse 360 for a few years now, I'm happy with the tone for most of the time but like a lot of folk would prefer to have something a big smaller to lug around. I've been looking at the Mesa M-pulse walkabout head, there doesn't seem to be many floating around in stores etc and for its price i rrrreally don't want to have to shell out for a brand new one as they're, like with all mesa stuff pretty pricey. What do people make of the walkabout heads? Is there a cheaper alternative? Your thoughts, as always would be greatly recieved

12. Im interested in selling my Warwick FNA Jazzman, i ordered from the custom shop in 2007. I took the nice nirvana black body and weathered\ aged it to make it look less 'new' and thoroughly gigged.. At the time the bass came with chrome hardware but I've replaced it with black warwick hardware. I have all the bits so you can have both. Ideally I'm looking to buy or trade an active 5-string warwick corvette standard either Bubinga or Ash though may consider the standard passive as i can always replace the pick-ups, but ideally I'm looking for a simple trade. Or sensible offers Construction: bolt-on Matched Headstock: - Machineheads: Warwick Standard Nuts: Just A Nut II Scale Length: 34" Frets: 24 Jumbo Fingerboard Wood: Tigerstripe Ebenholz Fingerboard Inlays: spiral Neck Wood: ovangkol LEDs: - Body Wood: AA flamed maple with swamp ash back Finish: nirvana black oil Pickups: MEC passive J/MM Electronics: MEC active 3 Band Control Knobs: standard Bridge System: Warwick standard 2 pieces Strap Locks: Warwick security locks Hardware colour: chrome or black Weight: 4,1kg Special Features: other fingerboard wood, inlays, other hardware suggested Euro retail price* : 2.685,- Euro (2007 price) ID-Code: 0325370384CDAFMOWW Pics to follow those below as from the Warwick site of my bass, mines far more weathered and 'used' will take photos soon. 13. Hiya Im looking to be a used, but ideally in fairly good condition ampeg 410HLF. Also interested in a Epi 1x15 & 2x10 or similar lightweight cabs. Im based in Camberley Surrey, will happily drive to collect Drop me a pm if you have something that might be of interest!
14.
Why don't you just run the M-Pulse flat and add a pre amp (sadowski/sansamp) and tweak that.
good suggestion but id prefer to be reducing what im lugging around, im checking out the genz benz heads next week as well as the GK mbfusion and the mesa M6carbine, i think that its worth seeing whats around and seeing if theres anything to be had from changing my head though it was mentioned to me yesterday that my SWR bass cab might not be best suited to my mesa head, so i was thinking a quick fix might be to swap the cab for something different....i dunno! im conflicted and confused i guess i just want a chance to have a play and see whats around :-s
15. Hi everyone, post number one so ill jump right in and ask this illustrious group what your thoughts are! At the moment im playing a Mesa Boogie M-Pulse 360 through a SWR Goliath III (4x10 @4ohms). I play in two bands at the moment, one is Solsikk a female fronted metal band (music video to give you an idea of the music http://youtu.be/6rTFn2a1wDw?hd=1) And the other is a fun little covers band, with that band i use my custom Warwick FNA Jazzman 5 String, strung with Elixir nanowebs. With Solsikk i use an Ibanez 5string SR705 5 string as the neck is alot faster also strung with Elixir nanowebs. Im looking at buying a new head (and later a new cab) something potentially lighter in weight, but mainly something which is easier to set-up, i find that because i use different basses and a slightly different sound for each i find it takes me a long time to get happy with my tone and then im back with the other band and have to reset the parametric eq and start again. The reason why im using two different basses is mainly down to the bands playing in different tunings . The list of contenders is: Ampeg SVT 7 PRO Gallien Krueger Fusion 550 Bass Head or the MBfusion 500 Gallien Krueger RB1001BII Mark Bass Little Mark III Mark Bass Rocker 500 Mesa boogie M6 Carbine (bit out of reach of my immediate price range) TC Electronic RH750 The problem im having is finding someone whos stocks these heads, people can get them in but its on a provision that i buy them, i've tested the Mark Bass Little Mark '& a Mark Bass tube 800 as well as the TC Electronic head, i didn't get on with the Mark Bass heads, i found the treble a bit too harsh, i was dead impressed with the RH750, the presets are a good idea but again theres alot of scope for over tweaking things to the point where im never gonna be happy. The GK fusion is looking on specs, price to be a favourite but i cant find anyone whos got one in stock to try, and its the same for the Ampeg and The Mesa head. I'd like any and all comments and insights, and if theres a brand of model of head that ive over looked please let me know! I guess the key is versatility without too much fuss, im a big and strong boy so if i have to lump another 15kg head around its no problem, though everyone seems to be heading towards smaller amps...or so it seems.
