Ampeg??
I think that is way too simplistic, I think Trace Elliot, Peavey, Ashdown and many others do very good solidstate amps. To me the only things you should concider when buying an amp should be: 1. Does it sound the way you want? 2. Is it loud enough/powerful enough for what you need? 3. Can you afford it? What else matters?
AYYEE I meant that GK is nice amp in solid state amps range - not meant that its best!!! (btw those you mention are also "valved" in preamp-but ok also have solid states models -its not important) I know that saying XZY is best logically start flame war something like who can piss longer distance Ok I agree with your points - maybe no.3 is most important.... I would also add fourth point "Does it have enough funcitons or opposite view doesnt it too complicated for me" that means that "simply rocker plug-turn all 10-play" (just illustration) usually doesnt need 20band eq with variable frequencies, series/parallel switching loop,Xband-compressor,Xover, stereo..... and another extra features and opposite "sound engineer" wont be satisfied with "simply" oldschool non-master volume, 3band eq amp :-D for his all night fiddling with controls....¨ Because I sometimes meet players which has complicated amp and play flat and even dont know what it can do

    Ampeg??
Quite frankly not true, my B series is made to a high standard and makes a very good noise in fact I said so earlier in the thread.
I just "re-said" what I heard Sorry if I sound like to Iam throwing filth on B series I should just say that for its price it could do job well.... But my opinion stays - keep GK Iam conviced that GK rule solidstate range well, ampeg is valve king P.S: I dislike all non-alltube Ampeg amps....worst experience for me was SVT3/SVP Pro :-(
  3. Yes price tag stays till nowdays - although its not available alrealdy, some shops stil list them for such price....insane. Of course I´d done research before I bought it and found that its considered as one of best Fender next to Custom Shop (some owners of both CS and FMT have very interesting opinions) Also there are very very wild speculations (like usual are) that it was near to custom shop and compete it. My opinion on bass is that its exlusive bass but still its "only" Fender Sadowsky lovers will sniff their noses about FMT and would say that its just Fender.....I dont want to hype it - but its mine and I like it, I know that our there are many better active jazz basses but who cares about 3K+ USD basses....i cant justify them just only for second(not saying that I simply dislike such overhyped instruments without any objective critics - I simply dont believe that everything on Laklands or Sads are perfect, it seem to me that people fear to critize them and I never forgive to mention that they are mostly outsourced kit basses hihi my favorite word needle).... I know Ive tamed instrument GAS, and have no reason to solve bass question - there is plenty room for GAS in amp question
  4. In fact its very ironic that Fender made Sadowsky copy when Sadowsky makes Fender copy Unfortunatelly FMT´s were discontinued (fender marketing or R&D has very strange strategy - FMT´s were very appreciated-instead of this they introducing craps like Duff MacKagan Mexico singature which is more expensive that Japan original....), and has no continuer in present production. It can cover very wide range of sounds, I like high frequency pot, its tuned at 8kHz so it tames highs very carefully and could act like perfetc tone control - it doesnt mess sound with low end, just cut highs (logically) -> then bass sounds near to passive bass. I also settle fine with this kind of downsized JB body. In fact this is most unfenderish Fender I ever seen
  5. Here they are....some bass onany Schecter can be found here http://sourgirl.cz/schecter/ (sorry its flash gallery so I cant post straight link) Presetly it has original Monstertone Pickups (oh my god Anderson know how to do pickup!!!) And fender...its looks very depend on light....so sorry for overlighted pictures but it shows real color of body on "natural light"

    Ampeg??

B series are quite problematic - their advance is that they are relatively cheap for Ampeg amp, disadvances are that I never hear anybody says "I have/play B series ampeg and I like it" I found many people bought them "because its Ampeg it cant be wrong" but as time gon on and they gained few experiences with expensivier amps they get rid of B´s as soon as possible. I fear that they have nothing to do with "real ampeg" but brand name and design. I dont like GK character but I would never swap GK RB series for AMpeg B series...
  7. From my experiences far east basses are still step down from american/european- they are nice maybe have better price/performance...but its mainly because they cost half or third of price. To MIA vs. MIM fenders....its BS to say there is no differecne cause they are made by mexicans in america because manufacturing of fenders has this system(I got this from Talkbasser who is Fender dealer and was on excursion in both fender factories) bodies and necks are cut in american factory, nicer grain and no more that 2-3 pieces bodies stays for american standard produciton perfect matched grain goes for american deluxe series, 3 and more pieces are supposed to finish in mexican factory..... There is no problem in mexican factory only resources are cheaper than americans... Fender Japan vs MIA is little more problematic because there to much japan models that are really cheapo basswood and weak electronics and hardware...I would say that deluxe or higher series from japan could be equal in terms of quality and sound to USA but dont forget that they cost same price. I also would like to comment that Fender are for most players "working horses" and they dont mess much with seting up, changing strings etc. so such fenders could be quite difficult to judge because bad setup and old strings could make Sadowsky sound like average bass.... Also another problem is that usually when it comes to USA vs. East discussion separates on two groups American owners says-"I tried also east production but my american has better everything, it definitely deserves its price, but east production is also great" East production owners says "I dont find reasonable to pay one or two grades for american thera are differences but i dont think they cost so much"
  8. Hi, I would like to tell you my story My firts real amp was SWR Workingpro, very nice amp, really clean, near to hi-fi (all solid-state) then I went SWR grand prix - that was big step up.....tube give life to SWR sound, super sound....then I had little "crapy time" with Line 6XT Pod Pro(big mistake) and then I finally got DEMETER VTBP201s(i found that Myung, Shavo from SOAD, and Justin Chancellor use it)....ouch that was best I ever heard, no way Demeter is top notch and even when SWR was great Demeter was little better, then I got "downsizing mania" 4U rack was too huge for me... So I went into research what could replace my Demeter in smaller size .....I found Eden...I was very excited that it should sound like or near to Demeter as James Demeter helps made first Eden amp.... so here we come....Eden WT400 was BIG DISAPOINTMENT....I was so fool that I believe that it could replace such great preamp like Demeter... I was not able to settle with eden, I expect clean sound, with strong and tight lows and agressive highs... I get warm, "lazy" sound not oldskul not modern sound, very neutral sound, without anything what could catch your ears....I dont find EQ usable much (as said on eden website many endorsees-dont use eq) Enhace control seems to be bad joke - its usable till 9 hours, then it makes something like Fieldy sound.... For me it seem that eq and enhace should have at least half efficiency.....then they wont radically change sound in very little turn. Not good idea active controls. I finished with Eden absolutely flat, using Demeter BEQP pedal preamp with highs boosted, now I can get my favorite sound - it makes me feel that Gain on Eden doesnt able to feed valve without "clipping power section" (which means that whole sound feels like one big mess) so I have to boost signal with external preamp-Its strange. I dont claim that eden is bad, but its very strange amp, to me it seems like bad replica of SWR SMxxx range. Looks Like David Nordshaw take SWR and cut about half size and funcitions and sound quality Advances of Eden are Size and weight, and relative good sound quality if you get it for fair price.(which is possible) But from "socal" high end amps WT400 is weakest amp I ever try.... I dont understand it - I dont like Eden alone but with Demeter pedal pre, it giving me ecstasy.... Iam sorry i I offend anybody, I dont claim that its crap but definitely there are better ones....or it needs big research to get fine sound from it which I dont get as very good characteristic.

No i keep SWR for about half year, but now i want to try something else(maybe i will be really disappointed with Line6) i still feel madly because GP is one of best sounding pre I ever play and i have really happy times when i play it (maybe some edens, agies could play better but really moooore expensive) that ampeg was mine only for few days, i bought it with Ampeg 410 HLF because bought them together was cheap. Also price of SWR is discutable maybe i can consider some price offers ad shipping i ship from czech republic.
