1. Hi, I'm looking for the following TABs (I guess I must be ear handicaped, It's an nightmare for me to get the bass line from the record ). I found some stuffs on 911Tabs or similar, but nothing really usable. Amy Winehouse - Valerie Long Train Running - Doobies Brothers Unchain My Heart - Joe Cocker This Ain’t Gonna Work - Alain Clark Burning Love - Elvis Like the Way I Do - Melissa Etheridge any help will be much appreciated! Chris
2. Hi, It's actually a bit of both. I;m struggling to not fret with the right hand, and because I need to really think "don't fret", I'm losing beat on the left hand. I guess I'll have to accept that there is not trick It's kindda frustrating though.. It's going well at low speed, not while building up temp, and the progress are slow.. thanks, Chris
3. Hi, My best wishes for 2012. I'm seeking for advices / tricks to help e with a small issue: I "lose" accuracy & "control" while playing empty strings in the middle of a riffs. I can play faster with the transposed even if sometime it requests some stretching, but eventually I need to play the empty strings for the sound & proper. Obviously tried slow and speed up. After some speed is reached, the empty stings kindda brings to a stop (sort of playing always a semibreve before continuing) Am i the only one suffering this... and has anyone any tricks to address this ? thanks, chris
4. @leroydiamond: I can't disagree with you. But well, i must wait a bit for 180 euros @Louis: I'll thus renew with the same set
5. Hi, It's time for me to replace my Alpine MusicSafe pro set. I could buy the same set, however, I think it's good to look around before Has anyone any recommandations? I'm not moving yet to molded earplug, so I'll take any recommandations on "standard kits" Thanks, Chris
6. hi there, My Squier VM Jazz bass is equiped LaBella 760FL. I have been to use the 760FL instead of the 760FS to avoid neck damage. And well, even with the FS, my fingers feel the difference . anyway I do recommend the flat on the Jazzbass. I had to switch band lately and my news mates were very happy with the sound! cheers, Chris
7. Hi, Because I'm playing mostly with my Jazz-bass and I'm sparing to ever get in Fender CS Pino Palladino, I'm proposing my Cort B4 + its flycase. I'm not planning to ship the bass, but i'll keep it warm in the Utrecht regio in the Netherlands. The bass is visible here http://flic.kr/p/akVcgf, and is 100% original except for the strings : Labella 720FS. I sell the case with the bass, as it's a Cort case dedicated to Cort Basses. Matter of pricing I'd like to get at least 350Euros for the set (the bass is about 450E new, the case 110Euro, the strings 45Euros). Chris
8. Hi, I've also started to use this trick (mostly for D & G string + all 4 strings after fret 8). To me, it's more a "complementary" trick: Pick up a tab, and while playing the tab I speak the notes being. That helps to learn my fretboard AND also to reconnect the tab with the chords Cheersm Chris
9.
Was that at Paul's Bass Matters in Nijmegen? If not, you should go and visit them as they have a CS Pino bass in stock as well as a few other P basses which you could try as a comparison... Paul is a Fender expert! www.bassmatters.nl
Nope, was in Paris while enjoying a week holidays there (Bass Maniac was the shop's name, very nice people there). Utrecht-Nijmegen is a bit of a trip just to try a bass Specially without having the budget at the time.
10.
In fact, I think that's the answer to about 90% of the questions you could possibly ask about bass
I'll dig deeper in the P-Bass world though. I was trying P-Bass after playing on J-Bass & Cort B4 (without yet being fully satisfied with my sound), and the PP Custom Shop sound just blew me away (i don't find it too nice to see though). I'm pretty much convinced that P-Bass is the one I need (whilst I love the Warwick basses, their sound is too much of "modern" to me). Now, I need to find the right moel for me, as I'd like to avoid the GAS
11.
A good way of getting nearer to that sound will be to get a Fender Original/Vintage pickup, which is the model in the 62, and in the Pino, then put it in a regular Precision. I had one in an MIM bass, and the increase in both low-end, clarity, and seperation between all frequencies was very good.
I'll have to buy a P . I currently own Squier JB VM. too bad for, no American vintage 62 to test in my neighbourhood
12.
Any P bass will get pretty close.
Actually, i was thinkingthe same as you, but i have to admit that my tests made me change my mind. I tried the PP & other P-Bass (same amps), and (in my hears), the PP has something more. I found it a deeper in the bass range.
13. Hi, I got the chance to get my hands on a Custom shop Pino Palladino Precision Bass. I still did not fully recover from the sound I heard To keep it short: I want one, but my bank position are not willing to concur. I was wondering if they were other P-Bass in the Fender catalog delivering the same sound that the PP custom. thanks, Chris
14. I'm using a Boss Tu-3 while the two guitarists use the Polytune. I'm happy with the TU-3, they're happy with the Polytune (Note: I did not try how the Polytune reacts to a Low E). The Polytune has a cool feature: check all the strings at once. very handy. I;d suggest you one of these two though. Cheers Chris
15.
Considering this job myself on the Affinity neck on my Sue Ryder. TBH I'm going for standard open backs and having the peg holes drilled accordingly rather than looking for good quality closed backs with the guitar type pegs. I'd agree the tuners are crap but while they don't hold tune for weeks at a time like on decent Fenders/MMs mine do hold out ok for a couple of sets through the night - if yours can manage that I wouldn't be overly concerned.
Mine can't hold more than 3 numbers they're pretty lose. I'll have to really weight the modification, I'm not really a good handyman More a destruction man when it comes to this kind of works.
16. Hi, I have a J-Bass Squier affinity (bought in 2008 I believe), model Cort (ICxxxx) crafted in Indonesia. I did think about selling the bass, but I got a bit a "sentimental" as it's my very first bass, so I'll modify it instead as the bass itself is not bad at all the tuners are definitely crap and I want to replace them (From the Squier Web Site, the part number of the tuners would be 006-2551-000). My problem (and reason of my posting ) is : what can use to replace the tuners ? I'm looking for tuners with the same positioning specs, I'm not filling like drilling in my bass. (I could not find the specs of the currents tuners ) Beside, I'm planning to replace the bridge, the pickups, the electronics (keeping is passive) and having chrome knobs, all without modify the bass itself. I'm therefore taking advices about replacement part that I could find to improve the bass without modifying the bass structure itself. thanks, Chris
17. Hi Guys, I tested it yesterday with a proper SD card.. one word WOW! The quality of recording is way above my expectations. I would never have expected to get all the instruments whitout clipping Just brilliant. thanks for your advices, Chris
18. check here: http://dirkwitte.nl/hardware.php?offset=36 They have few items left in the shop and yes, they speak English
19. It seems to be "out of catalog" to all the webshops / shops. Maybe Lne6 will release the new version soon ? (Toneport being an "old fashion" name) Probably a POD Studio UX8 to be released soon
20. I must check the MP3 settings, but for sure it was way too compressed
21. Hi There, I tested it yesterday in rehearsal.. so here my first impressions: - The Zoom H2 is a bit cheap at unpacking. The thing costs about 170Euros, I would have preferred a little less "low quality plastic feeling" - The menu / navigation are very decent, no remark here. Test in rehearsal: - Installation, getting, ready & recording control: perfect. Due to me lacking a big SD card, I had to record in MP3 and I probably picked up a wrong format, the compression is extremely damaging in my case, so to re-check next week. However, even compressed, I've been extremely surprised to hear what's been picked up.I'm very confident about the quality once in WAV (8Gb SD on its way :-)) When I tested the device at home, I'm been positivly impressed by the micros sensitivity & the sound quality all in all : a good choice for me so far. (I wanted a quick way to record, without wasting the rehearsal time with recording consideration, and job done!)
22. I take good notice. I'll play with it before thursday though.
23.
Hi Chris Recently got 'aquired' a Zoom H4n, bit on the pricy side but great results so far. If one of the external mic's finds itself close to your amp you''ll sure hear that bass on playback . Zoom H4n Oggy
I've just bought a Zoom H2. I was initially moving to the H1, but when I counted H1+ accessories kit (the Charger), the H2 became way more interesting. I'll test thursday in rehearsal, I'll let you know
24.
I asked a similar question in a thread here, and got the answer of a Zoom-h1. Haven't had a chance to use it at a rehearsal yet due to exams, but just experimenting with it at home the quality is great, check out the youtube vids.
the Zoom looks good indeed. Has anyone used it in a rehearsal ? (volume is way louder. so I'm curious) cheers. Chris
25. Hi Guys, I'm sure this question has been raised already, so amy apologizes if this is a duplicate. I'm looking for a quick an easy Digital recorder to record the rehearsal and be able to evaluate how bad I destroyed the songs and therefore I need your help on which device to look atfer. Band: Drums / rythm guitar , Solo guitar, 3 voices (2 lead male+female, 1 back male), and of course my bass. I've seen devices such as Tascam DR07 and I'm looking for "experience" feedback from you guys. I'm completly open to brand & model as long as I can record with a good enough quality to be able to 1/ hear the bass 2/ evaluate my playing. Thanks, Cheers Chris
