  1. Sting & Shaggy (yeah right!) were on The One Show a few days ago. Sting was playing a beautiful single cut extra short scale bass (similar size to a U-Bass).

    Anyone know what it was?

  2. Reduced Price £1500

This is a superb example of the Overwater Scott Devine Signature Series Jazz Bass. Made in the UK in Carlisle. Overwater basses are hand-crafted and are the preferred bass in the majority of West End theatres and on Broadway too - this is in large part due to their superb, silent electronics keeping hum suppressed.

I bought this from Chris May at Overwater direct in May 2016, although the bass was manufactured in 2015. I am the second owner, but the bass is absolutely immaculate without a mark, dint or scuff and has only had light home use since it arrived fully set up direct from Overwater. In fact, the only mark at all is a small split in the lid of the flight case. This was there when I bought it as I got a 'deal' on the case from Chris May at Overwater (£75 - they are usually a lot more for a brand new one). I knew I wasn't going to be travelling anywhere with the bass, but the small split in no way affects the structural integrity of the case. Photo attached.

The bass has a 33" scale neck and a narrow string spacing (16.5mm) and was designed with Scott Devine (who used to be a guitar player, so was used to smaller instruments). You can see one in action on many of Scott's bass lessons on You Tube.

  3. **SOLD** Reducing my collection, so no trades thanks. This is a gorgeous instrument and deserves to be played regularly.

Rob Allen Mouse 30 fretless short-scale (30") 4-string, built in 2014 and in absolutely immaculate, like-new condition.

Swamp Ash two-piece body with Eastern Walnut top.

Birdseye Maple neck with Goncalo Alves fingerboard and bridge.

Supplied with reinforced Rob Allen soft-case from new. Fitted with Labella 760N black nylon wrap flats.

From the Rob Allen website: -

The Mouse 30 packs all the fun of a short scale bass into a full professional quality instrument.  The lower string tension provided by the short scale has several benefits - easy playability, sweet upper register tones and fat blooming low end, not to mention the added nuance that comes naturally when playing this type of bass. The piezo pickup (mounted under the saddle in the bridge) is a vibration sensor that lets the wood speak, creating a cross between an upright and an electric bass.

    30" scale

    1 5/8" nut

    23/32" string spacing at bridge

    fully shielded body cavity

body finish - polyurethane modified oil

    neck finish - nitrocellulose lacquer

single volume control integrated in bridge

  5. Sadly, there was little known about bipolar disorder (or manic depression as it was called then. Never got the help he needed.
I'd like to batter that Haven guy to death with the bass of doom!
Saw Weather Report at the Brighton Dome in the mid 70s. Jaco is an idol of mine. Fantastic groove player & his melodic stuff makes my spine tingle.

Who out there has one with a bass with trans trem?

I almost ordered a 5 string custom with trans trem from Ned in the late 80's and never pulled the trigger.

I still regret it as they are like unobtanium at this point.

There's one on ebay right now - £2900
