i think the older one may have alnico magnets, the newer may have neo's. Im not sure though.

How big is the brass insert if ya dont mind me asking?

Just a couple pictures, like a picture of it out of the hole, next to the hole, the hole in the bridge for it, close up of the brass insert. Im just a curious fellow.

I cant find it from any of the usual suspects of that shape, Ibanez, yamaha, washburn, stagg....

If you're planning on taking it apart, can you show some pictures of the 2 side posts on the bridge. I have no idea of why they are there.

Or if anyone can answer that for me, id be grateful, as im not sure if those posts are massive screws, or simply decorative.

Well, on a stingray, the pickup is in the "sweet spot" to get the best tone when playing whatever note. Its referred to by the pickup, not the sweet spot of the note.

Id assume the sweet spot refers to how good the pickup sounds in its position on all strings in all positions.

I started using old hose pipe for a "spring" . Although i think 1" rubber hosing is supposed to be better. Old hose pipe for me is better than rolled up cardboard. Springs are too bouncy.

The HB seems like a great candidate for a neck pickup.

I want this one.

I did a similar thing with my Squier P.


I kinda messed the install up, routed the hole too big, couldnt adjust it properly, and it got in the way of slapping. Sounded good with finger mode. I ended up taking it out, selling it, and replaced my battered PG. Now it looks like this

Mine is pretty close to the neck



And it gives a warmer jazz sound i find. PLus a warmer P sound when solo'ed.

Thats pretty much mine dude. Fantastic sounds. Independent pickups, or any combination in series of parallel.

I love this thread. I love seeing multiple pickups. Heres my own creation with 3 5-way switches.



And i dont really notice any kill of sustain.
