That Triple Six is lovely, even has the original 50s four string bridge. 😉
Yes it is... I saw them on Facebook some time ago.. so I don't think it's actually a company .. maybe it's a guy doing handmade basses ... but they look great indeed

Having owned a Fender 51 and a couple of Squiers, I had been missing owning one. Just in the last couple of weeks I finished getting some parts together (mostly Squier) and assembled this one. Cheap as chips and plays great. I have been playing it for at least an hour every day and found it quite inspiring.
that's beautiful

Get a used Squier classic vibe (around 200-300 euros), then get someone who relics guitars/basses to relic the squier, get them to upgrade the electrics and machine heads (should be around 500-600 euros), which is within your budget.
that's also a good idea but you have to agree that those squier cv tele basses are very hard to find... or not ? :)

From posts on here about the MM, P 'n J of this lot... and someone on here has modded one of these...

or
https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_pb_50_fr_vintage_series.htm
And express yourself with a headstock template, a sander and your own finish...
What could go wrong for £105 initial outlay?
I would love to but would have to lose the Ibby EDA900 first...
Hello man,
thanks for the input. I've read a lot about this pb50 and subsequent mods. There's a fantastic one here on bchat (shoreline gold).
Sincerely speaking this is an option to but I'm not really into modding since I like keeping my basses stock. -
Hello bass friends,
I would like to know some suggestions from you since me being in a hunt for a tele bass. I really don' want to go dawn the road of a original one neither a fender custom shop model.
Here and there I have found some interesting luthiers, makers, small companies that offer relic jobs and builds regarding this specific model.
Let's say that my price range (what I'm willing to pay) goes form 800 - 1100 eur (used or new).
Some of the luthiers I have found (I know some of them are WAY ABOVE the price range I've mentioned) but just to give the idea, are:
- Veranda guitars (https://www.veranda-guitars.de/)
- Loic le pape ( https://loiclepapesteelguitars.com/ )- James Trussart (http://www.jamestrussart.com/)
- Relic'Art Guitars (https://www.relicartguitares.fr/)
- Limelight guitars (https://classicandcoolguitars.co.uk/)- Relic guitars The Hauge (https://www.relicguitar.nl/)
....
and so on..
So the idea is to found a "tele" bass that looks and feels just like it has finished a gig in a blues club full of smokers, drunks, etc.., americana, "the good old days",... If you know what I mean (the pictures attached sums up pretty well what I have in mind:
P.s. even some "bitsas" are ok!
Can you give me some other links / suggestions and such ?

I guess you meant balanced output...
Do you need this to be volume controlled ? Post EQ and pre EQ ? Saturation ? EQ type ?
Jep. Well something like in the tone hammer let’s say

Hello,
thank you guys for the raccomandations 'till now. I was an Mxr m80 user years ago but really didn't like the drive settingm the clean sound 'though is great. Few years back I've had also the tone hammer and indeed it's a great pedal.
But as @jrixn1 said I'm intrigued with the microbass of EBS that was mentioned. Said that it's quite overbuget.. -
Hello bass friends,
I did a search before I decided to write down this thread.
I'm in a hunt, ONLY USED !, for a a good bass preamp that has to have the BAL input since for a future project we're working to go full in ear and this would be quite a minimalist thing (trio, mostly acoustic stuff, there will be some electric but with VEEEEEEEEEEERY low volume). I intend to build myself a pedal board with: tuner, preamp, maybe a LS2 from Boss in order to have the possibility of 2 basses.Said so I'm planning to use my Custom shop fender P bass and a semi hollow bass.
So far, from what I have seen in this price range (again, in the used market) the choice goes between these:
- Aguilar tone hammer (my favorite so far)
- mxr m81
- electro harmonix battalion
- eden wtdi
ecc..
The point of this thread is to explore for some other that I may not have found. What are you experience ? I would love to read of other preamps
Thank you in advance for your help. -
Sold, the thread can be closed. Thank you
