1.
Also originally from MS, my brother snagged this for £200.00 in 1989. The full story is elsewhere on the forum, but deffo a bargain.

I cannot find the story. Tell me more!
CRAP..! Must've been on the old forum. It's a good story, but it's late so I'll tell it tomorrow.

  2. £120.00 from Magnum Sound in Wishaw a few years ago. Was originally on for £160.00 but when I plugged it up and it buzzed & crackled like a chip pan the guy instantly dropped the price.

Stagg BC-alike that I got from a car boot sale for a fiver. Couldn't do anything with it, so gave it to a music tech lecturer friend to do up as a studio beater for his students.

Another car boot sale find; went to someone on here for a fantastically generous donation to my nominated charity. Often wondered what became of her... Can't remember what I originally paid, but it was certainly single figures.

  3. Have a look here - http://www.vesterfansite.nl/page10.php?vie...amp;category=14 - It's a fantastic Vester resource.

I've owned a coule of Vester Tradition Series G*itars and they were phenomenal.

  4.
I'm a bit worried by that word "was". Is Southside music no more :) ? I used to drop in regularly when I lived in Govanhill - it was a great place and Charlie was a really pleasant guy to deal with.
Well, it was still open when I drove past at 5pm tonite, though I know Charlie has a 'flexible' approach to opening hours. Great shop, always worth swinging by if you're in the area.

And I'm still working on my responses to the OP...

  5. Need to thin out the herd and acquire some cash, so before she goes on Fleabay...

She's a 1999 Godin LGX (2-Voice) in Cognacburst. I bought her new in 2000 (IIRC), electric pickups are Seymour Duncan and acoustic is LR Baggs bridge. 3 outputs; Electric, Electric/Acoustic & Acoustic only. I had the original Schaller tuners changed for Gotoh's as I was sick of replacing the ebony buttons.

She was originally set up by Jimmy Egypt in Glasgow for 10's, and has had a couple of services since. Case has some dings as she didn't go anywhere without it, but guitar is in great condition for an instrument that saw mostly 'studio' service, with the occasional rehearsal and very infrequent gig.

  6. Saw Thunder play Saints & Sinners, Glasgow in '89 (I think) before S & S became King Tuts. Must have been the first tour they did, and they took the place apart.

Saw them a few times since; supporting Heart at Edinburgh Playhouse, Donington etc and always enjoyed, A pity they are no longer.

Must try and find my Terraplane stuff...

  7. Been listening to the ARK albums recently - http://www.arksite.com/index_old.html - and Randy Coven plays a whole lot of fretless on there...

And while writing this, I went in search of stuff on his gear; found this - http://www.pavelmi.com/basses_tzack.php

And when I'm done here I'm gonna go dig out the first Blue Murder album, check out some Tony Franklin.

  8. FOUND ONE..!

Passing by Crack Generator in Trongate in Glasgow this morning, saw this in the window. Asking price is £199.99... Looked old but cared for; hardware a bit tarnished but no visible damage, though I didn't have the time to stop and check her out -

If anyone checks her out let me know, eh..?

  9. Is this guy playing one..?

He's bassist for Black Hack - http://www.myspace.com/blackhackmusic - a band that my former drummer now plays with...

I thought it looked kinda familiar, but couldn't quite place it.

IIRC, Tony Clarkin from Magnum played Gordy Guitars in the late 80's/early 90's,

  10. D.A.D. - Awesome band, well worth checking out.

Remember buying the first album when it came out and playing it to death, Sleeping My Day Away is a fave of mine to this day.

Saw them supporting someone at Edinburgh Playhouse (maybe on the second album) when the drum riser was a massive flowery couch..!

    - Scurries off to dig out (vinyl) copy of first album -
