Not illegal at all. Even if the wrong price is displayed the retailer has no legal responsibility to honour the price, as all displayed prices are an invitation to barter.

Trading Standards can make recommendations to retailers regarding trading practices, but I believe they have little power to enforce anything, the retailer  may need to show due diligence, however there are many loopholes.

All that being said in the age of social media, the customer has truly become king, and most large businesses will honour wrong prices etc as an act of goodwill in order to give “good service”.

"If you’re a retailer, you must display:

    • the price of products - this must be in sterling (pounds and pence) and include VAT where applicable
    • the price of a single item (the ‘unit price’) for products that you sell loose
    • metric measures (like kilograms, centimetres or litres) for unit pricing - except for some products (for example, beer is still sold in pints)"

  2. I could be wrong but I believe this practice is not legal.

Having been in retail for over twenty years it was always drummed into us that there is a legal requirement to clearly display the price of a product and trading standards backed this up several times when there were things went wrong.

I seem to think there is a allowance for smaller stores, below a certain floor area, but I think that was in relation to the level of detail required to be displayed rather than being able to not display a price at all.

I'm sure trading standards would be interested in this case.....

  3. Been on my bass for about 6 months but have not seen a lot of use in that time.  £20 posted in UK. (not in original packaging)

    P. S. My bass is a 2:2 headstock

La Bella 750T White Nylon L, 4-string set for electric bass, light tension, long scale, material: nylon on steel core, nylon tape wound, white nylon tape wound with extra smooth surface, packaged using modified atmosphere to prevent tarnishing and ensure freshness, string gauges: .050, .065, .085, .105, made in USA

  4. Good morning,

Looking for some advice re. headphone choice.

My current set up for recording is Cubase on a laptop, Zoom r24 as audio interface and various bits n pieces main recorded direct in but sometimes amped bass/guitars recorded through cheap mics.

I have been using my Goldring Dr150 headphones  as good as they are for listening, they are too coloured and dark to be suited to recording.  So I think it time to buy something more suited to the task.

I was considering beyer Dt880 pros 250ohm but I am gettting a little put off by the reviews all mentioning the need for a headphone amp.  Would the R24 be sufficient to drive these?

Any other suggestions in a similar price range?

  5. These types of ads seem to be prevalent in all sectors now.

There are similar sites advertising £3k bikes for hundreds of pounds.

They all "take" paypal.  I get a feeling that the real scam is the harvesting of your PayPal details via a phishing site that looks like PayPal.

I can't see what all the fuss is about! I read the article about John Deacon in The Mail as I get it every day and it was fair piece of journalism.

    What was the actual story?

As far as I could work.out it was rich rockstar keeps himself to himself.  Non-story.  Poor journalism. He clearly doesn't want the attention and isn't doing anything to attract it. Why even print it!?

    I'm feeling positively virtuous! :)

How long have you managed to go without getting a new piece of bass gear (other than replacement strings)?

What was the last thing you bought that really made a positive difference to your sound and which you're never going to move on?

...Just to make this vaguely useful (as well as hopefully a fun / interesting / entertaining thread!) we've said so far, that the single piece of kit that has made the most positive difference to our sound and we're not ever planning on moving on, is:

    Ibanez SR1800 bass

    Pedals

    Tech21 ParaDriver

    Tech21 Dug Pinnick DP-3X

Or serious Bass-GASser has run out things to buy and is looking for ideas? 😁😂

  8. I use a Pedaltrain Volto - which looks identical to your rechargeable unit except its black and about three times the price 🤔 - and I can get about 5 hours out of mine using an always on drive pedal and a few other effects.

I guess your bass ofd must be a massive power drain.

You can use a power bank to supplement your rechargeable unit.  I've never implemented it properly but I have had a test run in the bedroom of plugging my completely flat volto into the powerbank via the USB and it ran just fine with all my pedals engaged.
