1. Here's a link to a thread comparing the 102X and 202X Yamaha BB's.

    http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry2394920

Essentially the 202X bases are hand made in Japan and have various treatments to the wood to artificially age the body internally to improve resonance etc.

Step up from the 42X bases is basically better pickups and nickel silver nut I believe.

    I've got a BB1024 and a BB1024X and I'm looking for a BB1025X. I'm not sure that I could justify a 202X bass unless I came into a large sum of money :-)

    YMMV

  2. I got a cable made up by obbm which is a standard instrument cable and a stereo headphone cable which run side by side. The headphone bit terminates on a 3.5mm socket to plug my in ears into.

That way you can have a powered personal monitor unit sitting on top of your amp and not have to worry about batteries.

  3. I met up with Will yesterday to complete purchase of a MarkBass combo and a trade of MB cabs.

He was an absolute gent to deal with and the gear is immaculate! I would have no hesitation in dealing again in the future.

    Cheers, Pete

  4. Alan bought a P-bass body and associated bits and pieces from me in a very straight forward transaction. Prompt payment and regular communication.

What more could you ask for? :)

    Thanks, Pete

  5. Thanks for everyone's responses so far. I should add that I'm lucky enough to own a BB1024 and a BB1024X so I'm thinking flats on one and rounds on the other. Perfect, right?

Interested to hear from any BB owners who have fitted flats though. TI flats do seem to get a lot of love on this forum so maybe that's the way to go?

  6. Hi All

I'm thinking of putting a set of flats on my Yamaha BB1024.

I just wondered if any of you guys have done this and any recommendations as to brands?

I was thinking perhaps a set of D'addario Chromes...

Can I still string through the body with flats (given that the bass has the 45 degree through body setup) or would you advise against?

Does anyone know what the string gauges as shipped are as I won't want to be messing with the nickel nut.

    Any wisdom graciously received.

    Many thanks in advance.

  7. I'd say that the key to playing repetitive lines is to keep at it (practice at slower speeds and build up your speed and stamina) and also try to relax so that you can play with a lighter touch, both with your fretting hand as well as your plucking hand.

I'm having to learn 'Don't Stop Moving' for an upcoming show and had the same issues when I started playing it, but it's all good now.

    Cheers, Pete.

  8. Number 1 would be my vote. If you are unsure re high notes etc then have an extended audition period and have him come along to the next two or three rehearsals before making a decision. This allows him to get to know the band and the band to get to know him and see if he continues to put the effort in and improve.

  9. Guys

Here we have a Lakland Skyline 44-01 in Sunburst with a maple neck which is somewhere between a jazz and precision width neck. Feels great to play and the maple has nice figuring to my eyes.

The bass is in good condition with a few light playing marks and no obvious dents on the body. There are some marks where it has been played with a pick on the body near the neck pickup and some light scratches through normal use (not enough to show up in photos) and a couple of small marks on the headstock.

The bass is a mid 2000's model (I think), made in Korea and has the push pull volume switch to go between active and passive modes.

The currently fitted Schaller strap locks will be replaced with the original strap buttons.

Collection from North Bristol preferred although I am happy to meet half way with anyone up to an hours drive from Bristol if required.

Tradewise I'm currently interested in a Squier Matt Freeman (oly white) and cash my way or perhaps a Warwick Corvette?

Thanks for looking. Please PM with any questions etc.

    Pete
