1. John bought my SSD (Spector). Paid up front and then drove to meet up and collect the bass. (Thanks John :) )

I couldn't really laugh at his car looking at the silver box with a Citroen badge on the front I was driving. (Its not mine, it was a hire car, honest! )

    Cheers

    Pete

Not only am I an average bass player, clearly my grammar needs some attention as well! :)

Thanks for all the replies to my original post. In fact doing more listening and using real notation when its available is the way that I've gone with this subject.

  3.
As I'm sure you already know Pete, the bass isn't an NS4 and I'm sure one of the Spector experts will be along shortly to identify it but I think it's something like the NS2000 model. Not withstanding the changed truss rod cover its a decent enough bass with a thru-neck for £160.

    <edit>

Oh and you could equally say that SSD is 'post' Spector but as it is, your bass is an SSD! :)
Hi Warwickhunt

Thanks for the heads up. I think (looking at the headstock shapes on the www.spectorbass.com history section) that it might actually be a NS-94 ?

    Cheers

    Pete

  4. Hi All

Here we have a Stuart Spector Design 4 string bass in black.

The cover over the trussrod lists this as an NS-4 (although this could be a NS-94??) It's a neckthrough design with a slim and easy to play neck. I believe that these were originally manufactured in Korea?

The bass has active electronics and SSD badged pickups. It's not got a huge output but you can dial in a variety of good sounds.

The E string tuner has a drop tuner but this doesn't appear to have enough travel so I've never experimented with it.

The bass has a number of bumps and scratches from being gigged but these are all superficial rather than serious. The picture of the neck shows the fibre optic fibre from my FretLord (www.fretlord.com) fretboard light which I can either remove from the bass or can be included with the bass for an additional £20. A hard case is included in the sale price. I'll re-fit the original strap buttons before any sale.

I'd prefer a sale although trade wise I might be interested in a nice P or a P/J with some cash coming your way.

Viewings and collection available from North Bristol. I'll happily travel up to an hour from here for a purchaser or arrange shipping (insured) at a cost of £20.

Any questions please let me know.

    Cheers and thanks for looking

    Pete

  5. Hi All

Ok, so here's the other Squier VMJ combo. This is the fretted VMJ with blocks neck mated to the sunburst VMJ body.

Modifications are the addition of a black scratch plate and some black jazz bass knobs. (The original silver knobs are available if required).

In really great condition! Some very light scratches in the laquer on the front of the body but nothing to speak of.

I'll remove my schaller strap buttons and re-fit the original strap buttons before sale.

I'm looking for [s]£170[/s] £150 for the bass plus shipping at cost (should be just under £20 insured and shipped.) I can add a hard case for an additional £20.

I'm based in Bristol if you would like to come and view the bass and am happy to arrange a meet for any purchaser up to an hours drive from Bristol.

    Any questions, please just ask.

    Thanks for looking :-)

  6. Thanks for all the PM's received and interest in this bass.

I'll be replying and working through these in order and for those of you who have requested a shipping quote sort that out tomorrow morning.

Going to be offline for the rest of the day as I'm off to enjoy the sunshine and the live music at The Old Duke Jazz festival in Bristol.

    Cheers

    Pete

  7.
Would you consider putting the old neck back on seeing as you're going to sell both? Alternativly, how much for the pair? Cheers, Rob
Hi Rob

I'm going to keep the neck on the bass this way round as if one of them doesn't sell then I prefer them that way. I am planning on asking £170 for the fretted version so would be looking for £300 for the pair.

  8.
I'm currently trying to sell a Spector Q4 Pro for £200 with a hardcase. If you're interested I wouldn't mind doing a straight swap for that!
Hi, sorry I've got a pre Spector SSD that is third on my list of basses to sell so I'm not really in the market for a Spector currently.

    Thanks for asking though! :-)

  9. Hi All

Up for sale is my Squier Vintage Modified Fretless Jazz bass. Basically I have both the fretted and fretless VMJ's and have swapped the necks over. In fact both basses will be for sale, so there will be another thread for the fretted VMJ. Personally I like them in this colout combo so I hope someone else does too!

There is a small dent in the rear of the body (shown in one of the pictures) which was there when I purchased the bass and the neck has some marks where the previous owner was using round's. There are a couple of very small marks in the back of the neck but these are too small to photograph and in no way show up when you are playing the bass.

The body and pick guard have some very light marks from being played but as you can hopefully see from the pictures the overall condition of the bass is very good.

Now strung with TI flats the bass plays with a great sound.

I'm looking for £130 for the bass plus shipping at cost. I can add a hard case for an additional £20.

I'm based in Bristol if you would like to come and view the bass and am happy to arrange a meet for any purchaser up to an hours drive from Bristol.

    Any questions, please just ask.

    Thanks for looking :-)

    Hi

I've got a pair of Mackie SRM350's in Mackie Bags which are in excellent condition but not being used as much these days which I would be up for trading.

Whereabouts are you based? (I'm in Bristol)

PM me if you want to discuss further.

    Cheers
