Exactly what I was going to suggest.

Wow, that's the one! Cheers guys :)

  2. My band are looking to cover some Extreme-esque stuff - going to be a challenge! So I'm after a OD pedal that will give me a nice med-gain crunch akin to that of Pat Badger's lovely bass sounds:

I've got a Tech 21 Red Ripper, which is perfect for making everything in the room explode in fuzzy goodness, but not so much for classic overdrive.

    I'd love a VT Bass/Darkglass/similar, but I've only got a £70 budget!

Any help would be gratefully received :)

    Cheers!
    Ben

I remember a really long thread from someone on here that started with 'OMG, I'm totally getting one really soon!', that went through 'they are working on a prototype' and ended with 'I've decided against it'. Until I see a picture of one I'm treating it as a myth.

    That'd be me :P

They put a basic one together but there were some issues to sort out and due to the queue/getting parts/figuring it all out etc it was going to take longer (waited several months, would've had to wait several more) than I could afford to wait as I had to get gigging with something.

What an amazing company though, they understood and didn't charge me anything. Even pointed me in the direction of some suitable off-the-shelf amps from other companies. Can't get better service than that. Anywhere.

  4. This envelope filter has got to be one of the most versatile out there, and it sounds ace. This thing can accomplish pretty much any envelope filter sound, with a foot-switchable fuzz/distortion, two outputs for dry/wet signal and an expression pedal input to turn it into the world's most versatile wah! However, as much as I love it, I just can't justify it at the moment as there isn't really an application for it in the music I'm playing. I bought it off here a couple off months ago - it's in mint condition but lacking the original box/power supply etc - just the pedal itself.

In terms of trades I'm really looking for an EQ/DI or a good overdrive - but I'm open to anything, not necessarily just pedals!
    Trade value of around £60-80?

    Cheers!

Ben, are you sure this sums up how you play? To me it sounds like you answered the question: Two albums that you think have great bass playing. I often am wrong though, and understand that.

Sorry, I meant as in those are the players I take most of my influence from, so I guess if I were to sound similar to anyone it'd be them as I try to incorporate their approach to bass playing into my own. The two bands I mainly play in are very different in style, one's more moody and one's a bit more rocky :)

Sorry if I've done it wrong! My brain wasn't running at full capacity yesterday :P

  6. I've just picked up a USA G&L L2500. Hands down best sounding bass I have ever played in my life. The G&L MFD pick-ups are great! I guess they don't really make huge numbers of instruments (compared to other big name manufacturers anyway) and they're not promoted all that well - website is a bit outdated for one.
Great stuff though. The Comanche guitar they do is ace too.

  7. I got a TC Electronic RH450 soft-case for my Ampeg PF-500 - sounds a bit illogical but it fits perfectly!
Visual Sound One-Spot power supply for all three of me pedals (9v at 1700mA!)
Some nice Elacin ear plugs for general use
    An Ultimate guitar/bass/instrument stand
    Hurrah for big families
Oh and tomorrow I'm picking up a G&L L2500 in a Basschat trade! Merry merry Christmas :D

  8. I started off playing piano for about eight years before anything else, and whilst I really enjoyed playing it solo, just because it sounds pretty, I never really got it in a band context. I always found the rhythm/bass side more interesting, love a good groove me, so bass is just naturally where I feel I 'fit in' as a musician. I still play piano and there are MANY guitars around the house so I can do a bit of that too. Also handy on synths/producing etc. But bass is just where I feel at home and where I feel I can contribute best to music. :)
