Beno's P Bass
It seems fitting that I'm the first to comment then Very nice! In terms of your pricing question, that knock is a fair sized one but not the end of the world. Assuming the rest is as you say, I'd wager you could go for £1250 - £1400. The higher end of that if that's the original case. You mentioned the possible U2 link in the other thread. As this can't be validated it *may* make a difference but because it can't be evidenced for certain I'd suggest it probably won't affect the price. I know a few people who've owned ex-big name players kit and without certificates of authencity it sadly becomes little more than just a cool story. My Ampeg SVT USA 15E is rumoured to be ex-Wurzels and I challenge anyone to come up with a cooler naff link! We have a few other 70s Fender players on here & I certainly would be interested to hear what they think price wise
Cheers mate. Yeah the U2 thing is no addition at all unless I could get him to sign off on it. His house (one of them anyway) is not too far from me but I doubt I'd get past the dogs ! Tis not an outrageous story tho cos in those days they were knocking about town like anybody else. First time I saw them was in a market on a sat pm. 50p entrance!!! The case is not the original sadly. Don't think it came with one. Hence the damage maybe. Thanks for the comments.
  2. Got one of these too. Cracking pedal. Subtle. For the price, highly recommended. B.
  3. Quote from intro thread BurritoBass "Brian, welcome. No not rude. Your pricing is about right. It depends on condition & original parts etc. Post some pics in the general bass section with as much info as possible & we can give you an idea" Here's a few pics of the babe. Its pretty much all original. 2 screws on s/plate were changed and only real damage was done on the bottom edge of the body where someone (not me) must have left it down on the edge all the time. Does seem a relatively easy repair though. See pic. Rosewood fret board, had new frets in way back and there's still meat on them. Dunno what else I can tell ye. B. 4. Hi Folks. Brian from Dublin here. Was steered to the site by the Bass Centre in Lon. I used to buy from them when I lived there in the 80's. Playing since 79 and have only had a few guitars and have stuck with the 76 precision I bought in 81-2 ? I'm no spring chicken as you've guessed by now. The lad I bought the P from told me he had swapped it for a Rickenbacker with Adam Clayton. At the time I didn't pay any attn to that as they hadn't conquered the world then. 20/20 hindsight is a wonderful thing If I could only get him to sign off on it now ! Good site here although not too sure how much I can offer as a member, but I'll certainly try. The reason I was in contact with the Bass Centre was to try to get a value of my P as I may have to sell it. They said anything between £1000 and £1750 depending on condition. I'm on a biker forum in Ireland and I know that 1st posters looking for something, is looked on as being very rude. No offence intended and I'm not just a using git. If I do sell the P, I'd defo prefer it went to someone that appreciated it. Cheers all, B.
