Lovely amp.
The speakers will have a date code stamped on the cork gasket... you would have to remove one from the cab to read it. I wouldn't hurry if I were you, the amp's far more important.
I would NOT take this amp to Marshall. They can on occasion have a very cavalier approach to originality. There are very likely repairers' names that amp collectors would respect more, though it make take a bit of research to find the right one. -
Correct - and in the bands I play in (covers and originals), there's no set list, just a song list. The singer susses the room, calls the next tune and we crash in. Knowing the time is vital when you're booked for 2 x 45 or 2 x 60.
Turning the watch to the inside of the wrist is a very good idea. I'm nicking it! -
Reading the OP, here's a long long long shot: a Fender Japan Hama Okamoto.
It's essentially an alder-body sunburst slab-board '62 P-bass reissue, but with an A-width Jazz nut.
Recently discontinued, and you'd have to order one used from Japan thus unplayed and untried. Great looking basses though..... -
Sir BigRedX, much as I respect your rockin' vampicity I must summon a weak croak of objection to the choice of The Sundays' reverb-bedevilled milquetoast version of Wild Horses. Please, for the sake of poor Gram Parsons' ghost, reconsider your position.
Now this, on the other hand, has legs.

Just bought a KiOgon loom and it couldn't have gone easier. The work is top-notch - every joint perfect, plus lovely touches like the siting of the cap, and soldering one of the grounds to the side of the volume pot. I could NEVER do it this neatly. Cheerz John!

My bass playing was once reviewed as "...the soulful pulse of...".
It became my nickname for ages. My bandmates were merciless -
So sorry for your loss. I read his books and feel almost as if I know the man. So long Deke

One great songwriter on another.

I bought one of those Thomann Premium gig bags about six months ago and one of the shoulder straps is completely pulling apart.
It's not even for a bass... it carries a semi-hollow, 6.5lb guitar. Not chuffed, I'll be sending it back. -

I've since noticed Eastwood shipped it without the chrome bridge cover and I will be wanting that too.

I think it would look nicer with a something like Gibson EB-style pickup cover instead of the P-bass bridge cover they supply.
Squarer, and more kinda Ampeggy.
A bit like this, if it covered the bridge... http://www.guitarpar...arge/EBAC-C.jpg -
I played one of these briefly in a shop and liked it much more than I thought I would. One of the best Eastwoods IMO.
Is the bridge screwed down on top of the guard, as reputed? -
There are some quite good ones in this thread.

I remember there was a similar add in the back of Guitar and Bass magazine, it must have been there for well over a year, it was something like "Band seeks bassist aged 18 to 20 must have long brown hair!" Ok I get the age thing, it may be slightly limiting but Ok, but I can't get my head around the long brown hair, are we talking Cousin It length or just over the shoulder, what actually constitutes brown, is mousey blonde sufficiently to qualify.
I was so tempted to find a picture of some 18 year stunning blonde holding a bass and send it to them with a message saying "really wanted to apply but sadly my hair was the wrong colour...gutted" Love Michelle aged 19

I know about this ad... the person involved lived in Florida (why they were putting an ad in a UK mag I have no idea), and was something of a fantasist whose interest in guitar players with long brown hair was most likely, shall we say, "not musical".
I didn't answer the ad myself, incidentally... I have almost no hair at all. -
Heckuva show.
I think the bassist is this guy: https://www.mo.nl/or...aram-kersbergen . Seems like a '63 P and I'd love to know his amp but it sounds pretty B15. https://vincent136.f...013/02/aram.pdf -
Try searching for vinyl scooter stripes (Vespa, Lambretta).
A narrow-wide-narrow band is a pretty common pattern for '60s scooters.
Something like this?

Cool!
And rad -
Please do but I THINK I found out for myself
I reckon it's from the Multivox/Premier/Strad-O-Lin family... okay, if pushed I'll say Premier, though the brands were a bit interchangeable...
From New York, about 1962...
Pretty cool to have the word from the guy himself... what does Eddie say? -
I know!!
The interesting thing about this bass is I don't think it's a Teisco or a Guyatone or even Japanese at all.
There's something about it to me that says American... faint shades of Premier, Microfrets, Harmony (but not any of those). And I think it's early - '50s not '60s.
All a guess, though. I'm going to keep looking. -
Anna Calvi was good. She's been covering that song for years mind, so she should have it down by now.
-
Thank you for your opening bid sir!

This is the guy in a rock'n'roll band called Los Apaches from LA.
Any ideas? -
Manton Customs is right: you'd be surprised what a really experienced tech can do with a fret dress, even if the frets already seem quite low.
Personally I think a re-fret - a GOOD refret - is perfectly acceptable on any pre-CBS Fender unless it's ridiculously, stupidly mint and/or a rare colour. Yours might be all-original but you didn't say it's mint, and it's "only" a sunburst (nothing against sunburst, just being realistic).
If in any doubt, I'd make double-sure it's a keeper before having any serious work done. But check out the fret-dress possibilities first. -
The best I've ever used is Virtuoso. It comes in two bottles: cleaner and polish.
Saying 'best' isn't really good enough. This stuff, the cleaner especially, is spooky. It cleaned my vintage Gibson 330 in a way nothing else did. Use an old white cotton t-shirt, so you can see how much brown goop is removed. It's almost miraculous. The technique is to work on a small area at a time, with circular movements, until the cloth begins to 'stick'. But keep working until there's no friction at all.
I think you can only get it from the USA. If I bought a Gibson EB that needed cleaning/polishing and I'd run out of Virtuoso, I'd wait until I could get some more. I am that impressed by it.
PS In my personal experience; please please don't use T-Cut, or wax. Spit at least won't do any harm.

The first poet of rock'n'roll, the great R&B-to-pop crossover pioneer, inventor of the guitar riff, practically. What a legend.
I'd say Paul'n'Ringo are in another, later category... there's only Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard left now.
