It's the different factories that made them. MIJ Fenders & Squiers were originally made by Fujigen Gakki, who, as I understand it, have exclusive use of "Made In Japan" on their Fender products. CIJs were sourced from at least two other factories, Dyna Gakki and Tokai Gakki.
I think MIJs largely stopped in the late 90s, so most recent Japanese Fenders will have been CIJ, with as far as I know, an occasional MIJ/Fujigen batch from time to time. There's not any quality differentiation between the factories.
This was the case while Fender Japan was operated by Kanda Shokai/Yamano Gakki, I know that relationship came to an end a few years ago, but I don't know who's responsible for current Japanese Fenders.
Completely amazing your knowledge is ,very interesting, thanks again

Probably already discussed on basschat but Made in. Japan or Crafted in Japan, what is the difference?and why Fender allowed that to happen, surely Made in Japan should be easy enough!also is the quality of wood and the rest such as electronic is also better ? I don’t really get it !Does it mean also Fender does not make Bass in Japan any more ?but only crafted?...thanks

If you change the capacitor to a 0.1uf one, it will bleed more of the treble away and sound a bit more "bassy".
Great thanks

Good morning,I have made some change already to my precision Mex ,stunning 60 s blue ,bridge cover ,had the neck completely check, and change the pick up to fender 63 custom, which sounds great BUT somehow a tad to bright to my ears probably due to a change of strings from my usual rotosound swing normal gauge,my question is does it make sense to change the electronic such as the transistors ?the one I have now are the mex ,I can of looking for a fatter sound, hope my question make sense. Thanks again

Hey J!!
Just a heads up... The rubber on some stands will damage the finish on certain guitars... Nitrocellulose finishes seem to be quite susceptible to marking if stored incorrectly. I've even heard scare stories of rubber padding actually fusing to the guitars finish!!...
With an ever growing family of bass guitars, space around the home can become an issue... (This is why I live in the shed)
If you are considering a multi guitar rack it might also be an idea to consider individual gig bags.
The gig bags will;
- Better protect your “babies" from accidental damage like knocks and scrapes
- Prevent dust gathering between pickups and bridge saddles
- Protect against UV rays
- Avoid rubber rash from PVC stands
- Offer a level of protection against sudden temperature change
- Preserve the life of the strings
If you do a bit of web crawling you will likely find a basic bass gig bag for between £5 & £15. I personally think it's a small price to pay to help protect that which brings you so much joy!!
Make sure to get the measurements right though as not all gig bags will fit a long or extra long bass guitar.
Pip pip
Brilliant iD I will definitely check that ,thanks
