1. And the reserve's not even met! I wouldn't shell out for one either but I must admit to having mucked about with ReBirth RB-338 (the virtual version) from time to time over the years.
2. +1 = 1206 My from scratch project fretless has manifested. I gigged it on Friday - completely unfinished (bare wood, makeshift electrics) but playable. Props to Neepheid without whos help routing out the 'lectrics hole it wouldn't have been ready on time.
3. Sell all your basses and buy this..... ..... I'll get me coat.
4.
Why does it have 3 identical guitars in the middle??
Different tunings perhaps?
5. I swapped my J Reflex Reds over from my old fretless into my new home-build project but they no longer work - it may have been something to do with the new pots I got off fleabay being utter crap and actually carrying voltage on the shaft and my guess is that the Reflex pre-amp module is now fubared*. Seeing as I specifically wanted to give the bass a dress rehearsal at this wee intimate pub gig we did last night I opted to wire them up passively for the time being, which was fine except the guitar is extremely extremely quiet (I had both the input and output knobs on my Evo500 round to 11 and both pups turned up to max on the bass just to get something close to being loud enough - ended up going through the PA) bearing in mind the pots are only 10k. * while wired as active - put through the passive input in my amp you get barely audible sound, put through the active input you get lovely clear nice sounding bass but only in 3 second intervals - I guessing the amp is cutting out because the signal is bad. Presuming that the pre-amp IS blown, rather than shelling out for new pups I was thinking of fitting one of these but I'm worried that as they are probably designed to convert ordinary passive pups to active that they will be woefully under powered by my uber quiet Reflex Reds. Wadaya think?
6.
Go on You could get a top following in the gay community
LOL I ain't pretty enough. Hung like a horse like, but rough as a badger's.
7.
PM'd too, Hey Ou7shined...your cover band is the same as my screen name! And you're clearly a Soundgarden fan...good taste in music man!
Spook! What a coincidence. That should get you free entry to our gigs for life. and yes Soundgarden RAWK!
8. We're kinda lucky being that we are a grunge tribute, so we can generally wear what we want as long as it's comfy and a bit scruffy - long shorts are almost mandatory - but somehow our front man always seems to come across a bit Brit-pop/high-streety no matter what he wears. I usually take a mental note of particularly hot stages (you know the ones with the lighting an inch away from your head) and dress accordingly. I've taken to wearing a hat as a tribute to Jeff Ament (who I'm supposed to be tributing) which was a good move as it keeps the sweat out of my eyes. For a laff I have just bought a lightweight kilt with the express intent of wearing on stage, but alas as my exuberant stage show includes "Busted" jumps, excruciating limbo dance type head-bangy crouching stuff and foot on monitor poses I doubt I'll be going commando like I normally would in a kilt.... or will I
9. Just FYI
10.
I wouldn't claim this to be an all time best image at all but its my fave shot taken of me. There are some great photographers kicking about at gigs these days. Our very own sshorepunk has made me look cool on a whole bunch of occasions. No mean feat!!
Nah no way man. That's not you. That's Jason Newsted. LOL
11. Daaaah daaaah... dah da daah...da da da.. da da da.. dah dah daaaah!
12.
Aye, just got one for Xmas. Got a wee battery box job for it this weekend.
Woot we need to talk.
13. Interesting. I had considered putting on a lefty but thought that it would look too odd (mainly for onlookers, not me) so plumped for regularness... but I think I might be in the market for a new neck again as the one I ordered came with dings. Neepheid, you got a router? Nae the kind that gets yi on t'internet - the ither kind that maks holes in wid.
14. I do like a bit of drop tuning so maybe through body is the way ahead for me - (point taken about the silk tho SJA) It is indeed hipshot-esque like >this< one but I'm not going balls out on my first full build attempt and it only cost me £20. No pics yet. I am documenting "Project-J" but I'm planning something a little special and... well... it might not work so I think I'll keep it a surprise for now... Oh I've said too much
15. Building from scratch and the bridge I bought has both through body or standard options. I have no real preference which way to go. What are the pros/cons for either set-up?
16. Looks good hardcase too - but P&P is a bit over inflated I would have thought Parcelforce 48 wouldn't be more than about 20 quid.
17.
... it was like the final scenes from 'Shaun Of The Dead'.
PMSL What a great description I can just imagine it.
18. Me likey.... but no affordy.
19.
Of more concern to me is the number of venues where the whole band has to run PA, lights and amps off two sockets.......
That reminds me - we did a gig in Opium E/burgh and all they gave us for the "stage" was a single really shady looking 4 way roll. Half way through the set the whole upstairs (except the lights behind the bar) tripped. We continued playing but obviously all you could hear was drums. 10 secs later all the power came back on and we hadn't missed a beat. Not good for the valves I suppose.
20.
Nice set, that...
Hell yeah. I'd go see 'em. The singer must have a fair set of lungs to attempt all that lot like.
21. I went through Interparcel to ship my cab and was happy enough. Although it took 2 days their 'city link next day' service came in at £20 +vat and they used UPS standard. They also give discounts for repeat business. Click on "Quote and Book" and it'll work out a quote for Oz for ya.
22. I don't know about membership sites but I find free online tab sites to be unreliable. Apart from the amount of stealth crap they try to get on your computer they seem to be submitted by any old tone deaf enthusiast who thinks they may have twigged it when they plainly haven't. You can't beat jamming along to the original. YouTube's ok for positioning but I find the compression rates used can sometimes make it tricky for picking out specific phrases etc. Personally I try to find torrents and jam away until I've nailed it myself. If you get a really tough section you could probably loop it in Audacity or something until you sus it out. Just my 2p like.
