...then for a short break from playing TABs; here's an art course:

    :P

Joking aside; TABs are ok, but they lack some of the key info.

Welcome and good luck in your playing

If, however, one's objective is not to become Rembrandt, but simply to have a nice colourful picture of a Tigger, PBN are just fine. Similarly, tabs are useful to many. Not much harm done, methinks..?

I'd like to play but unfortunately I'm still in the "sitting there scratching my head" looking at Reaper phase.
Maybe next month, or the month after, or the month after that. & so on & so on.

    :-)

Nah, we've all done that, and it doesn't work. One needs to be a bit more pro-active. For starters, put the picture as background on your screen, so that it's before you every day. Then change your avatar for the picture (fun, as it changes every month. It's Secret Santa month for now, or I'd have already done it...). Sooner or later something will pop into your head; a melody, a riff, a beat... Then is the time to reap the rewards of this cunning psychological forward planning, using... Reaper..! There, you see..? That was easy, wasn't it..? No more excuses now; get that screen desktop picture done. Yes, now. Well..? Don't just sit there gawping..! <_<

I've found the Focusrite ISA one with digital card to be fantastic sounding and versatile. It accepts a mike and line/ direct input and you send it to your system via S/pdif on two separate channels. Highly recommended. Excellent though it is, this would still need an interface to get the signal into the PC.
    Just sayin'.

    thanks for any help.

    Good afternoon, Tom...

I, too, am confused as to your intentions here. We could guess, but it would help more if you could whip up a simple diagram, showing exactly what you want to connect to where. There will be solutions, whatever you're after, but some will be more appropriate (and suitable quality...) than others. To connect one mic input to another mic input is not a Good Idea; there are better ways of doing things (ie: correctly...). Any chance of sketch, or, at worst, a clear description of what result you're looking for..? It sounds as if you have a problem. Give us your problem to solve, not your solution, please..?

Just a quick response to the comments about reading; to be a proficient sight reader takes years and is a skill that needs constant attention.
I would add that 'sight reading' is not the same as 'reading'. For an armchair warrior such as myself, I'll never be challenged to read, off the cuff, an elaborate or unknown piece. I have enough time to work out what I'm looking at, and rarely attempt Stravinsky. Basic, beginner scores are very simple to take on, although laborious at first (as with all apprenticeships...). For bedroom playing, it comes quickly enough, although I totally agree that it needs maintenance to stay assimilated. Ten minutes of reading from a method book, twice a day, will bring it on quite readily, imo. Far from enough for pit work, but very satisfying to be able to slowly work through a Bach prelude (other pieces are available... :)).
    Just my tuppence-worth.

    Would really appreciate any suggestions...

    Good afternoon, Paul...

No experience of this, but I'd suggest trawling the web for a few pics of artists or bands with the 'look' you're after, and taking them to a local tailor for an estimate. Any mileage in that..?

  8. Unanimous consensus for us. As we are 5, with wildly different tastes and backgrounds, anything that we can all agree on must be a pretty strong song. We have, over a decade or so, gone through about 50 or 60 songs; some get left behind, as they have become 'stale' (to us...), but we'd happily pick 'em up and dust 'em off if required, or inspired to. We usually add 2 or 3 each year. Current new ones: 'BYOB', by SOAD, and 'You Know My Name', by Chris Cornel.

  9. Back home, ready to take up the Challenge once again. Hmm... Not so simple. Basically brain-numb, but I'll try working along the lines of 'Rag, Tag and Bobtail meet Punch and Judy' for now, and see where that takes me. Hmm...

    It took me here...

    Greetings,
Looking for an interface were I can record a line out and mic at the same time. Focusrite any good ?
There's one for sale on this very forum...

    Focusrite for sale ...

I've no connection with the seller; just passing the word.

  12. It's been suggested before, and, no, I don't know how to get it set up, but a mutually trusted third party intermediate would work. Something like: Seller sends the item to 3rd party. Buyer sends funds to 3rd party. Upon satisfactory reception of all elements, 3rd party sends on said elements. Dunno if the logistics of it all is feasible, but it's a way forward, no..? Maybe a local music shop could oblige..? Any mileage..? Anyone cleverer than me to sort something out..? Where's Lord Sugar, or the Dragons when they're needed..?
