1. Agreed, but you get an alternative Place to tune the strings! It's absolutely 100% in tune all over the neck so the bridge works fine, if looking slightly space age
I had one of these years ago... I seem to remember that they were actually quite expensive when new. A nice bass - the bridge is a bit weird though :)
2. any interest in a trade for my 5 string gibson les paul bass, 1997, black, immaculate, active bartolinis, or maybe for my all original 1977 Guild B-301 fretless? I can supply pics of either/both if you are interested. Cheers

  3. I've only ever seen one other; on ebay actually about 18 months ago. The guy had done a video of him playing it etc. He was aking about 900 quid for it if I remember correctly, although it was in really really good condition. Don't know whether it sold in the end. I've got a fretted one of these and I love it, and this is just as good (but I'm not good enough to play fretless to a standard I'm happy with!)

    Cheers

  4. Looks like this is back up for sale/trade

Here is my 1977 Guild B-301 fretless bass. It's been used as you can see, so it does have the odd ding and chip here and there; having said that, it is almost 35 so it's older than me and it is actually in better nick! It plays and sounds like a dream. It will only increase in value. The only thing that's not original is the truss rod cover. It was missing when I got it, and a shaped piece of plastic is there in its place. There is no case with it. The worst of the chips/wear (where the mahogany shows through but isn't damaged) are on the back of the neck and around the edges of the body. Ive showed this in the pictures. Of course, they are only superficial. The front and back of the body are virtually perfect

So why aren't I keeping it? Simply because I'm not good enough to play fretless to a good enough standard for me to be happy with. Simple as that.

if you have a decent FRETTED bass, ie a stingray or a USAc jazz or marcus miller jazz or something along those lines, that you were thinking of trading, I may be interested in that. Please email me to tell me what you have got.

Straight sale NOW 520 (which is cheaper than some recent ones I've seen on ebay.)

  5. I've had a set on my Status Groove bass for about 3 years, and although I hardly play it, they still feel like they did the day I put them on, whih feels lke they've been on for ages, if you see what I mean! So if you want my opinion, no, they don't change (but like I said, they've hardly been played anyway)....so maybe they do change.....I've twisted myself into a rght knot there!

  6. I've got an early EB 15" combo 130w with an uprated 300w speaker in it (i destroyed the 1st one playing muse songs when i was about 21!), which i use for practice sessions and the occasional small gig. It's a cracking little amp, owes me nothing (think it was £300 new with a 5 year warranty!). In fact, I've just put it in the car cos I'm using it this afternoon. :)

  7. I saw this on ebay and thought it looked in good nick........glad I didn't bid on it. Glad you got your money back too. The seller is obviously a bass enthusiast with it being an overwater and him explaining what the controls do in the 'questions asked' section, so in my opinion, he has deliberately not mentioned the cracking/nut/action etc. Very misleading and underhand. We can do without such cretins.

  8. It's black, it is long scale yes, it is virtually unmarked. Certainly no chips or scratches etc. It's got flats on it, so as far as slapping goes, i wouldnt know, but with some rounds on it, and the power of those humbuckers, i would imagine it would rip your speakers to bits if you let it! Im not into slap and pop, so probably not the best person to ask! Regarding weight, it is heavy.....as far as a figure goes, i dont know as I have no scales, but its heavier than my stingray5 and heavier than the bubinga corvette i had too.

The action will go down as low as you like. It suits me just the way it is though; having said that, I do like it relatively high anyway, especially when I'm pretending to be James jamerson on my Precision!

    I'll email the pics now

    Cheers

  9. Hmmmm, well I thought it was original, but I suppose it could be one that's been bought afterwards and fitted. It was like that when I got it so honestly I don't know for sure. Certainly looks well though! Maybe the guy who had it before me swapped so it 'looked cool' or whatever. He said he's had it since new, and I had no reason not to believe him.

    Cheers
