  1. Just my 2 penneth as we say in Yorkshire.....

I've been playing for 10 years+ and have bought and sold and own expensive stuff (see signature below for my current collection), but recently off here I picked up a westfield p copy for 65 quid, albeit with upgraded pickups and a highmass bridge, to use as a 'knockabout' house bass and it sounds and plays lovely. I mostly play soul/motown/northern soul, so my usa precision is usually my gigging bass, but i did a spot with the westfield on saturday and i couldn't tell the difference in sound, neither could the audience/soundman/rest of band......it was 65 quid, so there you go.

  2. If you are after a cheapy knockabout bass, you won't go far wrong with one of the Westfield p bass copies. I picked one up off here the other week, albeit with an upgraded bridge and pickup, for 60 quid, and you know what, it's pretty good. I took it to rehearsal and told the drummer it was a rare 70s fender that had been restored and he commented afterwards that 'it sounds better than all of your others'....look at my signature; I think he was overdoing it a bit, but I'm not scared of knocking it or anything for the money!

  3. I never knew they made an active version. I have a passive fretted b-302 and it's lovely. I actually gigged it the other week for the first time. I usually just stick to my precision for gigs, but it sounded immense.

I wish I could do this fretless justice, but I can't. I sound awful on it , but it sounds lovely! I'd love a USA jazz or a Marcus miller jazz or a 4 string ray. I might just pull it and stick it under the bed though because its been on here for well over 6 months now. Had loads of interest yet it's still here. I don't understand why.

  4. You've got a point actually, yea! Not that I've played many new basses, but yes, they always do look in a diagonal line. I once had to buy new extra long saddle screws for my status as I couldn't get enough adjustment on the g string saddle to get the intonation spot on. The strings were nylon coated rotosound trubass incidentally. Massively different to whatever I had on it before.
