1.
Well it's the thought that counts Al, and that's a lovely one. I'd have been proud to have played it.
Hey Rich - do you want to play his Shuker that is here in Cardiff - or the Fender? Ros Mrs Old Git
  2. Well I never - an active group of Cardiff Bass players. Hey you lot - how about meeting up at the Tribute gig for the Old Git himself, The Globe, Albany Road, Cardiff, featuring The Soul Destroyers (staring Rich) and Wonderbrass (see Rich's post). Tickets £10 - in aid of the Samaritans and Yogamobility (a local Cardiff charity). Can be got from me, Mrs Old Git, Ros (not a bass player but living with several fine examples that Cal our son may get round to playing at some point) - [email protected]. See you there Ros
  3. Cal and I are looking forward to it and so far I have found 50+ people keen to boogey on down. Hope we will have a big crowd! Ros (Mrs Old Git)
Hi everybody, this is Enrico Pasini of Wood&Tronics Basses, and I am posting in Basschat for the first time. I have had the news of Simon's loss yesterday from our UK man Mark Stickley from Bass Direct, and it was is like being hit by a stone in my head. I wish that at least I had known before. I fell asleep at 5.30 AM and had an unprecedented stomach ache. Not only Simon was a very dear friend of ours, he was a tremendous supporter, as many of you know as well. He was many people in one, a multi-faceted, amazingly generous and enthusiastic man, always hungry for new ways to lend himself as a helpful friend. He has worked hard on our website with his knowledge about ranking in search engines as the true expert he was, and he made it possible for us to be ranked in top positions in Google at the dial of "custom basses" and other key words. Here we are with him last Spring, when he visited us in our shop in Belluno: http://www.wtbasses.net/home.aspx Thanks Si, we will need time to adapt to the idea that you are no longer with us... Enrico
Dear Enrico, Thanks for the link to the wonderful photo - and thanks Mark for the other one. I am very moved. I think our son Callum took the pictures - am I right Enrico? I used Si's icon from Basschat on the end of the coffin as the bass cleff so summed him up. Callum was insistent that he should carry the battered red Fender Precision which was his practice bass in our back room and put it by his dad during the service. thanks again guys - your support has been invaluable and it is great to hear about the tribute gigs which are going on. If I have any news I will pass it on Ros and Callum

Dear All, I have just read all the posts and am overwhelmed by the outpouring of feeling from all Si's friends on Bass chat. I can't thank you all enough for the wonderful comments and support. It is amazing to know how much he was loved and respected and it is very comforting to us all. I know how important a part of his life you all were - many is the time that you have all delayed our supper as I have tried to get him to move the lap top off the kitchen table while he was mid-post. Old rockers always have this selective deafness don't they? Si always blamed it on the drummer... Thank you Rich for posting the original information and the details of the funeral. We do want charity donations but I hven't decided which yet - out of the many that he has supported over the years. thanks also for the great, happy photos - good memories. We are hoping to do a Tribute gig, probably in the New Year, possibly Cardiff or Bristol, with some of the bands he has played with. I will keep you posted as our plans develop. I apologise if there are any close friends out there who we were unable to inform before the news hit the forum and facebook - I still don't have access to his full address list. technology is great but not nearly so accessible as paper. Again - I can't thank all enough for the support Ros "Mrs Simon Cox" The Old Git's other half
