  1. Just got one of these and I'm not going to read the whole thread over again, so apologies if this has been covered.

What hardware do I need to do the updates, and what other uses would it have?

Bear in mind, the only thing I know about all this stuff can be written on my thumbnail with a roller.

  2. Nice post, Ped.

I'm afraid I'd have gone with 'the best thing about it is the colour - burn it.'

I've a Harley Benton here (acquired off this very forum) that retails not far north of a hundred quid. I've changed the strings and can't put it down, it's not just 'good for a cheapy', it's a properly useful instrument.

Strange how the beginner's market has improved by whole orders of magnitude, yet still manages to remain something of a minefield.

I don't get nudity - full stop.  On stage, on beaches, in the back garden - wherever.  In public I understand there can be an element of exhibitionism.  Sometimes a need to shock.  Which I find rather pathetic.  But around the house or in the garden?  What's the point?

This may possibly be the single-most British thing I've ever read.

  4. That's more than likely to do with the performance of the cell than anything, the times are simply converted from the voltage readings. Some cells can have steeper drop-offs than others, so try a different brand or chemistry if it keeps happening. Mine's been really accurate so far, I always run it on Philips alkalines 'cos that's what the nearest shop sells!

  5. Don't forget Youtube can spoil you occasionally, I went on to watch fellow Welshists Dream State and it immediately threw The Blue Stones, Blacktop Mojo, The Amazons, Devilskin, Evergrey and the new Simon Mcbride EP at me all at once.

How the hell Evergrey have never crossed my path before I'll never understand. Still, it gives me 10 albums to catch up on, I suppose!

  6. There's a good way round this, if anyone asks me to borrow my rig I just hand them a 9 quid DI box and watch the confusion.

Sometimes if they've managed to irk me in some other way I 'forget' to put the battery in.

    Ain't I a stinker?

Any reason to show my 2nd favourite bass of all time is a good reason!

2002 fretless, new bridge (Gotoh), new pickguard, epoxied fingerboard and Lollar pickups. 1 of the best basses I've ever played.

I have a 5 string in that colour, and now a black pickguard has gone on my list of stuff that I somehow need to spend money on. Thanks for that.

  8. It's hard not to concede the point for having nothing more to say, though.

Get yer rocks off, get yer rocks off, honey
Shake 'em, now-now, get 'em off downtown
Get yer rocks off, get yer rocks off, honey
Shake 'em now-now, get 'em off downtown.

Now that's the finest pondering of the human condition right there.

Great, I'm now craving chocolate raisins and vimto!!!

My only issue with the G75 from very limited use is that in the rehearsal room it just would not work. No obvious explanation except my guitarist had a G30 very nearby. I think I wasn't changing channels correctly or something. I took it home and it worked perfectly. However, the power cable for the receiver unit is a micro usb on a short cable. Even on top of a small 15" combo that's not got the length to get to a power socket, I don't quite get it, I'd prefer a kettle lead sized socket because you can buy kettle leads by the metre on Amazon and I have a lot of metres worth for gigging purposes. When I gig this in a few weeks time it will have to be on top of two Ashdown cabs and a head so I'm going to probably gaffer tape a four gang extension lead to the back of one of the cabs so that I can power it up. Other than that it works great. I set it up in my spare bedroom, walked downstairs playing bass all over the house and got half way down the garden before the signal got interrupted by my wife telling me to stop pratting around.

I haven't used the USB on mine at all, I run it on the 9v as extending the cables on them is daft easy, and I already had one. I also simply don't trust micro USB sockets to hold any cable weight.
