1. BLX 130

I just recently traded away a lovely BLX 130, 'suppose it doesn't do any harm posting it here :)

I already regret letting it go but I needed more wattage and couldn't keep both amps.

Great setup, I especially like the cabs, for their portability.
Would be right up my alley.

  3. Congratulations on your new bass!

Headless's bass you link to is wonderful looking :) Yours probably is too - it would be great to see a photo if you can.

I have the old B3 jazz from Blade and when I sent them an inquiry about the bass the sent me this photo to explain the preamp

I realise that yours is different but maybe this gives you some idea.
For the correct info I suggest you e-mail Levinson-Blade, you can do it from their website:

  4. Oh man, that's a very pretty and no doubt solid Jazz Bass - unfortunately I don't have the means to buy, plus I'm not in the UK.

Here's a free bump on me anyway :)

  5. There's a beautiful Tokai Hardpuncher ltd. ed. on ebay now - in Japan though.

I thought someone here might be interested :)

I have one just like this but in red, I like mine very much.

    Enjoy!!

  6.
That is sexier than Kelly Brook on a trampoline ... almost

Which cab is that? 115 or one of the new neo iso-barrrimanilow ones?
Ahem, now I must google "Kelly Brook on a trampoline" -

Great looking rig mr. yorick :)

  7. Oh man, that's a lovely bass

I have the B3 type from that time which is identical except for solid colour body (mine is yellowish white), other kind of bodywood and black hardware.
It plays beautifully and sounds good too and I like the thick ebony fingerboard and fast neck very much.

I recommend Levinson Blade to anyone :)

  8. Hi there,

I saw a cheap Bacchus Jazz bass on Ishibashi website and I'd like to hear if any of you own or have tried one and how it compares to the Squire Jazz basses.

see link.............eh, was gonna post a link to Ishibashi but both basses on the website are gone ! so here's a link to Bacchusdo.com

    Bacchus

I'm in Iceland and it seems that even with high cost of postage and tax involved in importing one here it would be cheaper than Squire vintage modified and Classic Vibe but maybe dearer that Standard version.
Really the only way to make sure will be to look inside the body - the electronics routing under the scratchplate or the neck pocket. Ply will have visible splintery-looking lines where the edges of the layers are visible, solid timber will appear smooth. Hopefully the seller will agree to an examination like this. If there's any damage to the paint on the edges of the body, the wood might be visible there too.

Thanks again, I'll try and see if the seller will let my friend do this.

  10.
Morris is the house-brand of Moridaira, who were (and still are) better-known for acoustic guitars. They jumped on the copy bandwagon in the 70s, like many Japanese guitar makers & woodworking businesses, and like pretty much all the rest, made instruments at a variety of different quality levels.

In the late 70s & early 80s Moridaira built Hohner guitars & basses, generally these are pretty good. In fact I bought a Moridaira Hohner guitar in 1983 and it was the only guitar I used for about 20 years. I only retired it because it desperately needs a refret & I need to repair some modifications I did when I was young & stupid! Great guitar & I'd love to get it playing again.

I can't tell too much from the pic, but get your friend to try & establish whether the body's solid timber or plywood - with an old MIJ P copy that's the easiest way to tell whether it's a cheapo or not.

Thanks a bunch for your expert input !!!

Forgive my ingnorance but what's the best way to tell the difference between plywood and solid wood on a painted body like this?

  11. Morris P:

I've been thinking of buying a Morris P-bass copy (see photo) here in Iceland.
I think it looks good, as far as you can tell from the bad photo that is - it's like an early 80's Fender looks wise.
I can't inspect it myself but will be asking a friend to check it out.

Can you experts tell me something more about it?

When I started playing bass in 1987 Morris was considered a really cheap and low quality brand - has that opinion changed now ?

I don't really need another maple necked p-bass though, I have a Tokai Hardpuncher ltd. ed. but I am really tempted.
The seller wants too much for it though, I would have to haggle if I'll be serious about it.

    regards, z
