    Don't blame you mate! Sounds like a shoddy guitar player, nothing annoys me more than guitarist who use a capo for strumming open chords, learn your CAGED system and play it properly, i'm a bass player and even i can do that on guitar!

    Agree with the above you need to try them out. Having had alot of time with my tube800 now and gigged with it I find the sound more than flexable enough. I keep the tube blend control set to 12 o clock so it has the best blend of tube and s/s. Swanbrook if you liked the LMII the tube model is gonna be similar when set to s/s but you've just got abit more flexibility.

    I normally swap the strings straight over unless they came with d'addarios on as i'll use them if im skint or DR's if i've got the money. I find with me EB will last about a week before they are no longer playable so might just run em till they are dead, and Rotowound i will change at the earliest possible moment as they feel like they are coated in glue to me and I find them unplayable.
    As for setup I will end up adjusting it but I usually play it for a few weeks tweaking as I go until I find that perfect setup.

    Good point, and interesting you mention 24 frets, thats the other thing. even though i don't play alot that high it feels wrong when i've got less than 24. Must be bass OCD :)

    I'll look at it this way, i'm abit big round the waist band so i'm like a big oak tree that needs to spread a few more roots lol.

    This may seem a little silly to you all but i've been thinking about this alot recently. Most of us i'm sure started out on a 4 string, I did and was quite happy for 12 years playing like that. Must admit I did buy a budget 8 string for a laugh at one point that was too much (see sig). Then just over a year ago I joined my current band and found for one or two songs I needed a low C# and B, typical. So went out and got a 5 string. When I go back to 4 now, it still feels natural and easy to find my way around but i feel not quite complete and slightly naked. I wouldn't want to do any sort of gig with only a 4 string now, yet I love playing my old 4 string basses still. Kind of felt like i've lost my roots abit here.
    Odd thing is with guitar. I play to an intermediate standard and dabbed in 7 strings but that did feel like too much and prefered less. Mind you trying to play slide guitar over that wide a neck is bloody hard lol.
    So my point is, is it bad to feel like your loosing your roots or is it just natural progression?

    Ok got a gig ready setup here. Peavey Max450 and 4x10 TVX cab. This is an ideal first gig ready rig for any one and comes with the all cables needed. It has served me well over the years playing in all sorts of bands and all sorts of styles. My reason for selling is i've now purchased a much lighter weight Markbass rig due to my knackered spine. I want to sell these as a pair so will not break up.
    Obviously because this has been my giggin amp over the last couple of years there is slight wear and tear as you'd expect, i've taken a photo of the worst part.
    Due to the size and weight I would prefer pickup (west hertfordshire). Any more pics needed please just ask.

    Okies heres another bass up for sale now i'm trying to prune back the collection abit.
    Steinbgerger Spirit XP-2 mini flying V 4 string bass. I've had the bass from new for a long time now. Pictures show it's mint condition. One of the photos shows what looks like a tiny chip off one corner, it isn't a chip it's actually an unpainted blob and it's got clear coat over the top. I realised this after I got the bass but never asked for a replacement as it would have been too much hassle and it's not noticable. There is a special fitted case that comes with this
    I would prefer pickup (west hertfordshire). Any more pics needed please just ask.

    +1 i've always used them. GAK do one for about £14 that I recommend to all my students to start with. I use a more expensive one but only because it has bright coloured LED's for low stage lighting.
