1. Thanks guys for your replies.

As far as I know it's all going to be in original keys, so that should help a bit. I am also lucky because my friend who recommended me for the gig is going to play that night as well and we are going to meet on thursday to go through the tunes together, he played with this band already and they did the same sets so I will have a chance to note any changes to the intros/ending and structure.

Setlist:

I would be very grateful for any transcriptions. Some of the tunes are easy enough not to have them, but for most of them I could do with the transcriptions and the more I get from other sources the more time I will be able to spend on practicing actual playing. I will probably just make a simple chord charts just to outline the chords and the structure, because I want the tune to fit on a single page and i don't really need to play it note for note.

2. Hey guys,
So the day finally arrived and I just have had my first call to do a dep work at a wedding. I must say that while I have several years of playing experience, loads of gigs etc, I was always playing with original bands, so I didn't really play much of a covers in my life. Now I need to learn 2 sets, just under a 40 tunes, and I know maybe 5 of them already and the rest I'll have to prepare.

I want to prepare myself as good as I can, I respect the fact that someone is giving me work and that it will be a special day for someone too, so I want to play the sets as smooth as possible, and make sure that my phone number will not be deleted by the band leader.

I am looking for the advice on how you learn your repertoire quickly when you need it, I have a time until Saturday so that's not bad, but still gives me 10 tunes a day. I have been told that it's completely fine to bring the charts too. I've done some transcriptions and charts before, but I am wondering if someone has some tips for writing charts for functions and/or some good resources (websites etc) where I can find good quality transcriptions of typical pop/dance function repertoire?

I will appreciate any tips and help!
Cheers

3. Hey guys, first of all, I am not a regular visitor of this forum as I am busy with my daily things, and if you realy would like to be informed, PM would not hurt (I'd receive e-mail notification of a message).
This instrument after not enough interest here is now available at Maruszczyk's public-peace.de but with a black hardware.
I am no longer in possession of this instrument so mods, please close it.

4. Hey guys,
With a heavy heart I am forced to look for a new home for my Musicmaster. Last minute tour cancelled, student loan is gone and bills need to be paid and while I am looking for work over this summer I still need to support my bank account a bit. Otherwise I'd keep it.

So, the bass itself is not 100% original but that is reflected in price, I saw them going for twice as much in a bit better condition and I think that is a fair price for what it is.

Unfortunately the bass has been refinished by a previous owner, originally it was in a daphne or sonic blue (one of these early light blue musicmasters) but previous owner decided to refinish it in black and it wasn't a professional job, but over the years it gained a lot of dings and it has a vintage/relic look and it never bothered me. The other non original thing is the replaced wiring loom that I got from KiOgon. The reason why I have replaced it was the fact that when I got the bass, the original tone pot wasn't doing anything / didn't affect the tone, and instead of replacing just the tone pot, I have removed all the original pots and jack input and just put the whole new wiring loom and leave the original electronics untouched just in case, and that will be included in the sale. Pickup is original. Other than that, the back of the neck is nicely worn, first 3 frets have some little wear and that's about it. It is just a great little bass with a vintage vibe to it and with the tone rolled all the way down it can sound really funky.

I am based near Neasden in London and you are free to come and check it out, I am also willing to personally deliver it within a reasonable distance or meet half way. I can throw in some cheap gig bag for free that I got with the other bass. I'd rather not post it, but I have some spare cardboard box left when I got some bass delivered earlier this year and could put it in that box wrapped in some bubble wrap if buyer would arrange the courier.

Finally here are some pics and one vid, any questions do not hesitate to contact me, it is rather urgent so I might listen to very near offers. Also check my feedback :)

5. Another bad experience with Fender Custom Shop (Tweed) cables. I bought one and it broke after 2 or 3 months after I got it. I had some unbranded lead for years before someone broke it and I thought that this one is going to last years. I went to the shop that I bought it from hoping for a replacement but they were making excuses, and I do not have a patience for that kind of service, just wont use them again, and then I bought a cheapo Stagg cloth wrapped lead and so far is good and I bet it will last much longer than the Fender.

6. Hey guys, I am selling a beautiful Yamaha tenor sax to get some funds towards a vintage fender jazz, here is a link to the gumtree ad where you can see some pics, it's in great condition and comes with everything. https://www.gumtree....hone/1165512748
I'd prefer straight sale so I can start looking for a new bass too, but if you have a vintage Jazz Bass, I could do a part exchange with some cash your way, but that really depends on the price.

7. Hey guys, so i have recently bought a super cheapo bass, here is the link to NBD thread with pictures - http://basschat.co.uk/topic/282094-nbd-jd-jazz-bass-vintage-1975-sonic-blue/
Since it was so cheap, I'd like to make it a little project. A while ago I had a AV64 jazz bass finished in nitro and I loved the feel and the fact that it was aging so nice in a short period of time. Now, I'd like to emulate a bit of that on this new bass, but I am not a pro. I guess that the bas I have is finished in polyurethane or polyester or something else that is super cheap and I'd like to spray an amber or clear nitro over the neck and body, or maybe clear/amber on the neck and some nice colour on the body, but I don't want to ruin it completely, so I need a little advice.
I don't want to strip the bass from the current finish, I don't have correct tools and don't want to invest in them just for this little project, so I am wondering if I will sand the clear coat lightly on neck and body and then try to apply nitro over it, will it work? I will order the nitro in spray cans from northwestguitars.co.uk
I was doing some reading on the topic and googled here and there, I know that after the final coats there should be a polishing process too, but is it absolutely necessary? I don't want my bass to look super shiny and I am looking for vintage and maybe even light relic finish.

8. Well, I'd say it really depends. Most bitsa basses I have seen are usually made from cheap necks and bodies with better pickups and electronics. Bitsa basses are hard to value, depending where you sourcing your parts from. If you using things like Allparts then it's easy because they have a retail price etc, if you buying a body and neck on ebay, then it's harder necause some people could sell unwanted bass body for less or more than the others, same with other components. In your situation, it's a very expensive bitsa, mostly because of the Status neck. I'd say that every bass being sold by it's user is a second hand instrument and should have some of it's original value at least slightly deducted. And other thing is that the bitsa basses are not on a big demand like other basses with the badge, plus you said no fret markers so i guess its unlined fretless, and thats for a specific people too, not as popular as fretted basses. You would really need to think how to price it, if it was me, I'd put it at around £700 to begin with and see if there is any interest.

9. Judson bought my Ibanez Sr756 recently. We had very good communication and I drove to meet him and deliver the bass. He is a very nice guy and after checking the bass he paid agreed amount without any hesitation. I would certainly recommend him for any future deals.

pulled the trigger and just ordered one

You can't go wrong with it, I hope you will get the good one, and if not then returning or exchanging it shouldn't be a problem. I was lucky because I could try it first, but all their basses on display were good and I tried every single one.

11. I had to remove the link because the tune we played isn't released yet and artist want to keep it private until release date. Mcnah, can you please edit your post to remove the link? I'll post later other tune when I get home. I don't want to have any trouble related to leaking stuff too early :D

the screw holes do not align, and I was reluctant to make holes because I like it without a pickguard too and didn't want to add more... so I ended up using a bit of double sided sticky tape to hole it in place and never drilled the holes.
I can't remember where I got it from... it was a seller on ebay... I know it fitted my old Squier VM Jazz, which is what I originally bought it for. It's a little tight, but it fits.

Thank you, sticky tape is a good idea!
