I’ve got the EMG BTS preamp in my CRFM euro, I am happy with the sound but I could be tempted to try the LHZ out of curiosity. Can anyone comment if the LHZ is likely to sound more similar to a TonePump or the BTS?
I've had a total of 4 in my CRFM including a mighty mite copy and all preamps have their own tone. The LHZ is a HAZ copy then its closer to a tonepump than a BTS is.
I've never actually played through a real Haz however the LHZ is far the best sounding of the ones ive tested.

Yes and tried to low D on E ...

Just very generic and uninteresting sounds. I'm running a Spector ns2 into it and felt nothing that i cant get from the other collection of distortion pedals i have.
Maybe i should have tried a P bass but spent about 30mins thinking " MEH
, boring! " Send it back immediately.

Well I got one of these and sent it back for refund the same day. Very generic and boring distortion tones imo..

The preamp should also differ. Yours should be the EMG BTS (unless the previous owner changed it). The Euro 4, which indeed started in 2001, came with the Aguilar OBP-1, succeeded in 2003 by the first version of the Spector TonePump. 2004 saw then the introduction of the Euro 4LX and the maple/walnut/alder body wings "sandwich".
Yes it is, i would like to change it out for a Haz but i believe the board dimensions of the Haz are slightly different to the cavity size ?

Mine has solid maple wings and is a euro, but it has the NB serial
So the only difference is that a year later they re named the same bass a Euro and put NB in front of the serial ?

LOL just a few things made me laugh, when talking about the 57-62 era he used the image of a 62 model onwards and at the inclusion of the Labour Party logo on the conspiracies part 🤣. Since when do political parties have anything to do with 'stories related to bass guitars'.

My fav. distortions are: Mantic - Vitriol & Malekko - B:Assmaster. Neither seem to loose low end either 👍

Another thread dredge, this time to answer my own question from last year and potentially help anyone in a similar situation.
I just bought the latest version of thr Mantic Hulk and it's brilliant!
The dedicated dry output is the real winner here along with the facility to have the effect feed killed when the pedal is off.
The tracking is really good - I get some odd artefacts with low C and below, but that's to be expected really.
I can't wait to get this into some subs at gigs!
I had both a meatbox and a mantic hulk , sold the meat , Hulk stays with me forever, it is really good.
