1. Yes, they are a very light tension set, don't laugh, but I'll be doing a bit of tapping.
2. Eventually, I ordered the 5 string piccolo set from Newtone and an extra 95 for the low E. 6 String set is: 0.020 0.030 0.040 0.050 0.070 0.095 https://newtonestrings.com/shop/diamond-piccolo-5-string-bass/
3. Do you know the gauge for each string you are using? Thanks to everyone for the info.
4. Many thanks for the good info, yes, I was thinking about getting a custom set of strings from newtone, whom I have had good strings from before, I'm just wondering what gauge to order. As a quick guess, I'm thinking about these for a light gauge set for a 34 inch scale bass: E 0.100 A 0.080 D 0.060 G 0.040 C 0.030 F 0.020 Obviously, it's the high C and F string gauges at 34inch scale that are a concern, will they break at that tension. That's a very interesting option, great info, D'addario piccolo string gauges 52-42-32-20.
5. Can a 6 string bass be tuned EADGCF? If it can, are the strings available? I mostly play guitar tuned in fourths, so I find that the low B on a 6 string bass very confusing, as I know all the notes on the fretboard in EADGCF tuning without thinking. Thanks
6. I am trying to find the best Inexpensive Machine Heads/Tuners for a 10 string project, 5 left side, 5 right side. Any ideas, as I'm not a bass player.
7. I've got a Subzero Pad800 Class D power amp, the fans are noisy, but you can replace them with noiseless fans, I used Noiseblocker fans. https://www.blacknoise.com/site/en/products/noiseblocker-it-fans.php?lang=EN
8. Thanks, I've just posted it on the BC Marketplace for £1200. https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/326260-double-bass-carved-wood/
9. I swapped a guitar for a Double Bass on this forum many years ago, the detailed info about the Bass is in this link here: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/72702-german-mittenwald-double-bass-100-120-years-old/?tab=comments#comment-929041 I've kept it in a bedroom for years and occasionally wiped the dust off it with a cloth. I know nothing about Double basses, I'm a guitarist. It also has a very sturdy soft black Double Bass case made by Tom and Will. Pickup from Warrington £1200 Many thanks. Guy
10. I was thinking about putting it on ebay, but didn't know a starting price. It's been stuck in my bedroom too long, it needs to go............
11. Ok, I was thinking about £1200, I might be totally wrong, but this was the approx value of the guitar I swapped for the double bass.

13. I would sell the amp and speaker separately for £225 each plus postage. Sold Gum tree
14. Excellent condition TC Electronic Bass Amp and RS410 (4x10inch) 600 Watt speakers. £450 plus postage for amp and speaker cab or £225 for each item plus postage. Warrington, Cheshire, if you prefer to pick them up in person. The Amp has been used for practice/rehearsal sessions only, no gigging and the Speaker has never been out of the house, so both items are in excellent condition. Both items are made with exceptionally high quality and were expensive when new. The Classic 450 has a great sound, just read the reviews online. The RS410 Speaker has a great sound, just read the reviews online. The RS410 Speaker is currently selling at £570 new. Thanks Guy SOLD GUM TREE Spec: https://www.tcelectronic.com/Categories/Tcelectronic/Bass/Head-Amplifiers/CLASSIC450/p/HE033 https://www.tcelectronic.com/Categories/Tcelectronic/Bass/Cabinets/RS410/p/P0CJJ
15.
Nice looking bass. Are you sure it's from Mittenwald though? I'm no expert, but it has a lot of similarities to my own bass (general outline, beech neck, no external linings) which luthiers have generally estimated to be from the German/Czech border region rather than further south in Mittenwald.
Good point. Thanks, I'll edit the post. It states in the original post "The bass is a German 3/4 flatback, believed to be from the Mittenwald area.".
16. The paradox of time is that it's a concept that doesn't really exist....................
17.
Which TC Electronic unit were you comparing it with? ...and what conclusions did you reach?
I have a T.C Electronic M350 dual engine rack unit, but I bought the Nux pedal because it's more portable and it has a looper, which sounds excellent. Obviously, as you would expect at this price, the Nux Delays aren't as higher quality good as the T.C Electronics M350. It's going on Ebay next week. (It's on Ebay)
18. Bump, it's a great low cost delay pedal.
19. Another price drop because I want to move this pedal on to someone who'll use it, I bought it for £45 six months ago to compare it to my TC Electronic delay rack unit. It's a very good pedal for such a low price. Price drop £20 + £5 Postage.
