  1. I'd recommend buying the parts from the for sale forum here on Basschat, as and when the bits come up at the right price. That's what I've done and I just need some pickups now. It may take longer, but is more fun :)

  2. If you're using it as a shop front, I would condense the site down to one page. This can contain all the relevant info, contact details and links to the various social media sites. Links to your music demonstrating what you sound like is a must for me.

Like the black & white theme, and would stick to a couple of sharp, snazzy pictures of the band.

One sharp, stylish page is better than several very 'average' pages imo.

  3. Just like it's fretted counterpart, a fretless needs to be correctly tuned. If the saddles are not in the right position, tuning will be out as you move higher up the neck. Obviously you can compensate for this on a fretless, but it will make it much harder to play in tune, if the intonation is not where you expect it to be. Check the harmonic at the 12th fret position against the fingered ('fretted') note. These should both be in tune.

When you play a note on a fretless with your finger perpendicular to the board, you can go from slightly flat to sharp by slightly rolling your finger back and forth, if that makes sense.

Well, were going to have to agree to disagree on that one. That's like saying a concrete neck would feel the same as a wooden neck if it had the same finish on.

I have and use both, and to me there is no difference in 'feel'. Perhaps you should try a few graphite necks and see what you think :)

  5. I have the Obligatos on my Stentor and they're a great string for pizz, very stable, great tone. Similar in tension to Spiracore Weich's. Can't compare them to the Eva's though.

If your bass is really that quiet, get it checked out, as suggested previously. It depends on the 'acoustic setting' though, as DB can be difficult to hear depending on who you're competing with.

  6. I've used both a Realist and a Bassmax. My preference is for the Bassmax, which I currently use, as for me it's more resistant to feedback and easier for live use. Sound-wise it'll be a case of suck it and see, as different pickups respond differently on different DB's. Mine's a Gedo with ply back/sides and solid top.
