  1. Nothing wrong with Markbass , it's just that I had 4 amp heads , 3 cabs , 1 combo at the peak of my gear accumulating years .
I am only selling the 604 Stack in an attempt to raise some money.
Great sounding lightweight gear , just very popular at the moment.

  2. Up for sale is a as new Eminence Kappa 15 inch speaker with box , I bought this new from Blue Arran in Southampton for a speaker building project - as per the photo .
The speaker was mounted and tested , very loud indeed , and then I replaced it with an 8 ohm one so I could run it with another 8 ohm cab.
New price was £75 , this is less than half price .
Collection from Southampton / Portsmouth / Lymington or I can Postage / courier to be paid for by the buyer.
I am based on the Isle of Wight
    Thanks for looking
    Martin

  3. Hi Shadowalka, ( and Clarky , thanks for your help )
I have just weighted it on the bathroom digital scales and getting 4.4 Kg or 9.6 lb in old money .
Its not a pre- CBS lightweight weight , but then its not a late 70's boat anchor , more middleweight .
I will knock £100 of the price to sweeten the deal if your interested . ( £1500 excl delivery )

  4. There are other ways to date the bass, apart from a serial number on the neck plate . There should be a green stamped number on the heel of the neck which will contain the year of manufacture , or just checking the dates on the pots ( providing they are original ) will give a rough idea of the date .
I have a 74 Jazz on basschat which I think must be one of the last of the 4 bolters , these are considered a bit more desirable / valuable than the 3 bolt neck ( I'll just go and get my tin hat ) , so if your bass is an earlier model , Greg may have increased the value of your bass. Showing photos of those features helps to sell the bass as well.
There are a lot of Fender experts on the forum who would be very happy to share there knowledge with you , so don't be too embarrassed to ask .
    Nice looking Jazz .
    Best Wishes .
    Martin.

  5. I will accept £1000 for the complete rig - no low-ball offers please .

I am selling purely for financial reasons , I am the original owner of the amp and one of the cabs , the other was bought in mint condition from Squib here on Basschat .
These two little beauties sound far louder / bigger /deeper than their size suggests , and having the two working together really allows your amp to work at its most efficient .
Prices are reflecting the condition .
Littlemark3 £380 boxed and posted using Standard Mail in the UK
604 Cabs £400 each - not including courier charges
I will sell both for £750 , that's less than half the price of one new cab
This is a very lightweight, portable ,powerful rig which holds it own against a Mesa Boogie combo AND a Hugh's + Kettner all valve guitar rig and a powerful drummer .
I am based on the Isle of Wight , I can meet in Person in Portsmouth / Southampton / Lymington
    Many Thanks
    Martin

  6. I bought this for a Tele project that I was doing , but I seem to have been side tracked into cab building instead . The Pick-up is still in its original factory sealed packaging , I have not even unwrapped it yet , so its 100 % new . Selling due to lack of funds , etc .
Price £70 including postage , other shops are asking £90 plus
    Many thanks for looking
    Martin
PLEASE NOTE - THIS IS THE LEAD / BRIDGE PICK -UP NOT THE NECK PICK-UP .

  7. Due to a cut in wages in the new year , I am selling off some gear . I bought this off Clarky about 18 months ago as I fancied a Jazz , but I prefer the neck width of a Precision .
As far as I can see , the only issue is the brass nut , I think I have a white replacement one somewhere , which I will include in the sale .
There is a sizable compression ding in the lower bout of the body as per the photo .
The pots and neck are dated 74 , the frets do have some wear , but the bass plays fine . I find the maple neck gives it a bit more snap +growl than the rosewood necks , but thats only my humble opinion .
I am based on the Isle of Wight , I can meet in person in Lymington / Southampton / Portsmouth or possible do a day trip to London . I will post or Courier the bass too, There is no hardcase , but I can include a gig bag in the sale .
This is probably one of the last 4-bolters before Fender took the leap over the cliff with the 3 -bolt neck.
    Cheers for Looking
    Martin
Ps the Markbass rig is also for sale
Price reduced to £1500 excl delivery ,

  8. I'm probably still rubbish now after nearly 30 years of playing, but I have got into more bands by being Enthusiastic and dependable and by providing a simple bass line to a song , the trick is to forget about how " you " sound , but how you make the whole band sound .
I have seen many a speed -god or fretless wonder get the boot from a band because they are stealing the lime light from the singer / guitarist ,and that will never do!!
My practice is to switch the radio on and just try to play along to each song , it sounds awful at first, but it will slowly get better as your ear develops and starts to recognise chords and different styles of music . Try and get into a band, you learn alot quicker with a good drummer and generally guitarists are happy to help with chords , etc .
Most of all , have fun .

  9. Perhaps I should not have used the word '' dissappointment '' in my description , I think ''different '' is a better word to use .
As a long time Markbass user , my ears are used to the LM3 and LM250 sound , so I was probably expecting the same ( but bigger ) in the 800.
I have also learnt the long, slow + expensive way that amps and cabs that sound fantastic on there own ,ie LM3, sometimes sound quite different in a loud band situation .
New amps also take some time to get used to, and finding your ''sound '' in an amp will only come after a number of gigs .
The Tube 800 is definately my amp of choice in a big band setting , it really does seem to find that space between guitars and drums so that you have an audible / defined bass sound even if the guitarists are doing their best to wipe you out .
If I had to sell one of the amps ( I think I may have to ,anyway ) , I would probably keep the 800 and sell the LM3 .

  10. Hi , I have both LittleMark 3 and a Tube 800 amp . I bought the Tube 800 to give me an edge over the two rather loud guitarists that I played with . I tend to have all the Eq flat with a small amount of VLE to try and give a bit of '' vintageness '' to my sound .
The tube effect is not hugely apparent , many people argue that they cannot hear it at all , but I think I can pick it up when I start to dig in and play fairly hard .
The Little Mark 3 has a very warm / deep sound which is great when played on its own , I also use the LM3 for duo work with an acoustic guitarist as it seems to fill out the sound and give a really good foundation in this type of music .
The Tube 800 was a bit of a dissappointment when I first got it , played on its own it does not have the fullness of the LM3 , but I took it to some gigs with a loud Pub Rock band and the Low/mids really seem to punch through the mix of two over zealous guitarists .
I also have plenty of power in reserve ( which I probably wont need ) , but its there if needed .
I am no sound engineer , so forgive my amatuerish description , but there are other factors like type of bass/ Cab /pedals etc that you may use .
    Hope this helps

  11. Mark bought my LittleMark 250 bass amp , prompt payment and smooth transaction with lots of humourous PM's .
Many thanks and hope you enjoy the amp .
    Martin.

  12. The fact that this is a charity gig , may make your refusal to share your rig '' uncharitable '' in the eyes of others , but equally , if Mr Slap Happy blows up your rig , will he/she pay for the repairs .
I have been caught out in this situation before , handing over my pride + joy with a promise to look after it , only to watch some cretin doing his best Curt Cobain impression with my equipment .
You are donating your time + musical skill +equipment . Let the other band do the same .

  13. Smallest was barstaff plus Lead Guitarist's Mum + Dad ( a bit odd as he is in his 30's and his parents come to each gig? )
Biggest 500 plus at the Royal Mail Christmas party held in the sorting office in Peterborough , apparently Status Quo and Level 42 have done gigs at the same sorting office , or so we were told .
