  1. For sale Ehrlund EAP Acoustic Pickup.

Highly regarded but just not right for my bass. I thought I'd come across the sweet spot a while ago but I've decided to try the Ischell instead.

Price includes insured delivery, and payment by PayPal business for your protection. If you're near Manchester and can pick it up I'll knock off £20.

  2. The distance by eye (I only have a metal ruler) is just shy of 51mm from lower to upper holes, measured from centre of holes. Across it's around 38/39mm it seems slightly closer to 39 on pair of holes furthest from truss rod adjuster.

Sorry for late reply, didn't get notice of your post.

There is a 5th hole between 2 lower ones but it may have been for hanging the necks...I don't know..it looks different to the holes the guitar tech made when he fitted it.

  3. After having managed to get my 72 Fender Jazz’s truss rod problems sorted (thanks to Jack’s Repairs in Cheetham Hill) I’ve been able to reunite the neck with its body. For 7 or 8 years it had this excellent All Parts replacement on it. It’s a JRF-B    https://www.allparts.uk.com/products/replacement-neck-for-j-bass-rosewood-board-w-finish-w-binding-block-inlays

I had it professionally fitted and the frets dressed when it went on. As you can see there is some fading so you can see where the machine heads were and where it joined the body.

I can’t see any flaws on the fingerboard apart from the 2 areas on the neck photographed. I’m not even sure if the smaller one is part of the wood or not. There are a few small knocks on the top of the headstock. There are a couple of “burrs’ around the holes for the machine heads but these are covered once the tuners are fitted.

The neck was a great replacement and I didn’t really miss the old neck while I was playing it, though I’m glad to have the original back on the body - it just looks right (I didn’t want to put a Fender decal on the neck even though it’s licensed by Fender)

I’d like £220. This includes insured delivery and you can pay by business PayPal for your protection.

Can someone please direct me to a replacement power supply for my HX Stomp.

Original or decent 3rd Party is fine.

Strangely I can't find much about online that look to have good reviews...........

    I have one of these

though they are out of stock at guitarguitar atm. Maybe you can source one elsewhere.

  5. Thanks nekomatic. I probably won't push my luck then, though the P15 sounds great in the clips I've heard.

The trouble with smaller non VAT registered builders in the EU is they can only put cost of goods as including VAT on the customs form without an exact breakdown. This leaves you open to the possibly of paying VAT on top of the retail price. I really like the Gnome and Goliath but hate not knowing the final price.

I think when I bought some double bass strings from the US I ended up paying enough to make them the same price as buying them here plus £11 to DHLfor the pleasure of paying them.

  6. I've bought 3 Broughton Audio pedals recently. I budgeted for 20% + for importing and was pleasantly surprised not to have to pay anything both times (I bought two pedals the first time, one the next). A friend who got a Broughton Fliptop at the same time as me also didn't pay. I think one package was under £200 inc delivery and the 2 pedal package was just over £200. I'm in the market for a tube DI or tube pre with DI and have gone back and forth between the Broughton P15, the Khan DI and either the Gnome or Goliath from WR in Luxembourg. I'm leaning towards the Gnome as I already have a few preamps I like but the import duties are an unknown due to VAT. I don't want to pay VAT twice and import duties on top. I can't find any clear info on gov.uk. The P15 is around £400 which may tip it over the limit for Canada, I don't know. Has anyone had anything in that price range from Canada recently?

During lockdown I sold off all my effects as I hadn't needed them in years. Predictably I have now joined a band where I need effects & Line 6 looks like way to go.

Got a problem though - I'm having issues at the minute with my vision - it's a passing phase until I probably need varifocals. I wear reading glasses & can see very little close up without them - distance is OK but between 3-5 feet it's pretty blurry -  not good when using pedals!!

Does anyone have similar experiences & could advise which is the best re clarity? The Stomp display looks to be a decent size whereas the Effects displays possibly too small. Most probably can't help as you can see them OK!

The problem should be resolved when my next optician's visit is due but currently is a real pain. I can't even make out my amp settings & struggle seeing the fret dots on maple neck basses! I can't play with the reading glasses on as I can't see beyond 2-3 feet & they make the neck appear bent!   Aarghh - hate getting old 😬

Mine have been getting worse over the last 10 years. The last time I had my eyes tested I had them do an extra test for about 1.20m as I couldn't see my music clearly on the stand with or without my reading glasses. They also help me see my pedals. Trouble is if I need to look closely at my amp I need my reading glasses. I now have to take both pairs. I didn't get on with varifocals at all. It might be worth giving mid distance ones a go. You could always try some cheap reading glasses at a lower magnification. My reading glasses are approx 1.75 and mid distance 0.75.

I have the Stomp and Effects and am fine with seeing both.

Buying from Thomann and other EU based merchants may well become less attractive to UK punters come the new year anyway given the likely increased costs and delivery times to the end user. Personally I’d be holding fire on selecting a new bedfellow until it becomes clear what’s what if you’re not going domestic.

I've been wondering about this too. Thomann have Thomastic Spiros at about 75% of the price elsewhere. I usually only change them about every 4 or 5 years and have just put a new set on but am thinking about getting at least one set before the drawbridge goes up.
