1. Cheers guys :) I think the grain's a bit different from other bubinga Warwicks i've come across. It really does light up under stage lights though and looks even better. I'll see if I can find any pics where I won't be infringing the photographer's copyright

  2. '99 Fretless Corvette. Bubinga with a Wenge neck and Ebony Board

'00 Fretted Corvette. Swamp Ash (violin oil finish) with an Ovangkol neck and Wenge fretboard. Also got a John East preamp with EMGs

'83 Wal TR1 (so i'm told!) with Shedua facings.

  3. Cheers :) I saw it and it just stood out, and it plays better than it looks. I've got a Bubinga fretless too, but since Bubinga has a different grain for every bass, the distinctive grain pattern just lights up under stage lighting, and it looks absolutely immense

  4. Had it just over a week now, but finally got round to cleaning up.

Will get some more pics eventually, and some of the others. Got the fretless bubinga version of this too as my main bass, but came across this one with a John East preamp and EMG pickup upgrade for £500, so snapped it up :)

  5. I find it easiest to just go at it with confidence. As you first start, it'll sound iffy as it does with most people including myself, but I kept going at it, until i was confident enough to gig at it. I'm now at the stage where since I loved my fretless so much (Warwick Corvette), it became my main bass which I use as primary bass for gigs and a lot of recording. I'm at the stage where my fretless playing is better than fretted.

    It'll come, don't worry about it :)

  6. Yeah I'll try and get some. Got to get some of the Warwicks and Wal too to post up too. Got some nice plans for it though. Uprate all the hardware, new pickups, possibly a varitone or J tone, and a Roland GK3B pickup.

  7. Ah nice, I had a nightmare choosing what scheme to go for with mine. Black with black plate or a tortoise shell? Sunburst with plain or tortoise shell or coloured with the same combination of plates. Ended up going for a sunburst one :) I'm a bit picky and like to see the wood I'm playing.... good job my main hacks are Warwicks and a Wal haha

  8. Just out of interest does the Badass slot straight on? When funds permit, I'm trying to decide whether or not to go for a Badass as the one it comes with is crap.

I also agree with the beautiful neck comment, and the overall balance when playing is really well. If anyone is looking for one, I got mine from purpleturtle music for around £250 brand new.

  9. I've got one, spare / project bass. For the £250 it's a good working bass, but it's cheap enough to tweak, so there's money left in the budget of an american fender or similar, to fit better pickups (the ones it comes with are crap!), better machine heads and a new bridge, such as Badass II or a KSM.

To cut it short, if you don't intend to do anything with it, you can do better. As a starting point for an easy project, it's pretty good for the money :)

  10. I've got a 5 string Grind BXP. Got it a few years ago to serve as main gigging bass, give the Wal a bit of a rest. Picked up on ebay with hard case when looking for a good, solid and reliable 5. natural finish with thru neck, rosewood 'board. It's a lovely piece of kit, and I'm gunna miss it as it's now up for sale.

  11. Fair enough, that said I'm trying to get hold of a double gig bag for not too much money, so paying postage wouldn't be much of an issue. I'll see if I can find out average postage costs :) the M25 area is a tad far away, I'm based in Rochdale, Manchester

  12.
Hi All,

I have a Fender double gig bag up for grabs. The reason that I'm not selling it is because there is a split on the outer material at the bottom corner where the stitching has come away (approx 6 "). Still has all the padding inside and all zips and pockets are working.
If anyone is in the J13 M25 Staines area, they are more than welcome to pick it up.

Ideal project for anybody that is good with a needle and cotton!
    Cheers,
    Jim
Hi, I'll presume it's for bass isn't it? Have you any piccies and what're the odds on postage?

    Cheers :)

  13. Hey guys, been lurking aroud for a while but decided I should get round to joining.

I'm 18 and have been playing for around 5 years now, playing in various circuits (mainly rock and folk). Main basses I use for gigs are a passive Warwick Corvette fretless, 4 strings, bubinga body with a wenge neck and ebony 'board - Made in germany, and also a Wal Tr1, 4 string fretted - I'll say no more  Also bought an active Warwick Corvette (again german) yesterday, swamp ash, ovangkol neck with wenge 'board, gold hardware and also an electronics upgrade with EMG pickups and a more uprated preamp, and my amp is an acoustic 470 with a 4x10 paulman cab :)

Got a few other basses too, such as an EUB, ashbory, hohner B2a and a 5 string peavey too, but I'm in the process of cutting back on stuff.

err, i think that's about it  I'll try getting around to posting some pics up when I get the time.
