1. Third deal with Joe now (yes third!) - top guy to deal with - true to his word no messing - deal with confidence - great allround guy.

    Many thanks

    Terry

  2. For sale my Lakland 4-94. I bought this bass new from the US about three years ago. It was my main gigging bass for some time. The tone is one of the best I have had from a bass. It has the Lakland LH3 preamp and pickups. It is beautifully crafted with incredible attention to detail, it is also very light. I have owned Lakland skyline models and IMO there is a considerable differnce between sklyine and US models. As stated this bass has been gigged and there are a few very minor marks (belt scratches etc) but nothing of any significance and I would say the bass overall is in very good condition. The case also has a few marks but is in good condition. I also had an aftermarket pickguard fitted ( my design - wanted it to look like a stingray but sound like a lakland!) which had different holes for screws so there is an extra hole near the volume control (from original scratch plate) the original is included (black)

    PLEASE READ BELOW

Whilst using this bass at a gig it developed a significant earthing buzz ( when you touch the strings/hardware it stops) it really is quite loud and can cause problems if you are playing through a big rig) I contacted Lakland who were great and suggested I use the Bass gallery and lakland would pay for repairs under warranty. I sent the bass to the gallery and after discussion with them it was decided that to resolve the problem the preamp should be replaced. Lakland sent a new LH3 preamp to the galley who fitted it and sent the bass back to me. Tried again no difference - still buzzing. After several more conversations with Lakland and the bass gallery and mainly due to time contstraints on my part, I gave up, and the bass has sat in a case ever since. I am pretty sure this is not a major repair and that for someone with the time and inclination (and access to a good luthier) this will be easily sorted. I do not currently have the time or inclination to pursue this.

I would normally be looking at somewhere in the region of £1250 for this bass but taking into consideration the issues explained I am offering the bass for sale at £900 delivered. I think this is fair but welcome any comments on this as always.
I cannot give any guarantees on the issue raised. My thinking however is that if the worst comes to the worst you could install new preamp and pick ups of your choice for the difference and have a really cracking bass.

  3.
That´s a fantastic price for a true beauty of a bass... you should reconsider selling it. My NYc Jazz is the best I´ve ever owned..
Thank you again - I have thought long and hard about this one beliieve me!

  4.
Is that a one-piece ash body? I can't recall ever seeing one on a Sadowsky bass.
Thank you gents - dont think this is a one piece body I am pretty sure its chambered (by the weight), the bridge is the sadowsky goto brand not sure on the electronics maybe will check , I dont think there are any significant differences between this and a 'new' sadowsky other than this has aged really nicely , one thing you know for certain when you play it both from the feel and the sound is that it is a 'Sadowsky'.

    Still for sale!

  5.
It was like the great 70's Precision glut of Summer '08 :)

You'll be pleased to hear that both mine and Marcus's have now been sold Terry, good luck with yours. That's a bloody good price for an NYC

    Chris
Yes thank you Chris - I saw yours had gone and that Marks had gone and it literally was a case of diving in quickly before the next one came along!

  6. Up for sale My sadowsky NYC jazz. I have owned this bass for some years. It has not really been played that much but I have held on to it simply because it is such a beautiful instrument. It was always my intention to keep this regardless but now though having another Sadowsky to choose from and the current climate being as it, it is reluctantly up for sale. It has been confirmed by Sadowsky as made in June 1994. It is pre VTC so none fitted. It is very lightweight (8 1/4lbs - fairly accurate bathroom scales) it comes with a sadowsky lightweight case, it is currently strung with DR's and has had a new nut fitted and set up by the bass gallery recently. It is in very very good condition no real marks at all. It plays extremely well. I have owned many basses - this is one of real quality. Pricing is quite difficult on this - I originally thought £1750 but times as they are For sale at £1650 including delivery (comments welcome) . Viewing/trying welcome. No trades at this time - still need to reduce number of basses!

As stated any queries/comments welcome either by post or PM.

    thanks

  9.
I have to extend special thanks to Terry (Loudandclear), who inadvertently clinched the deal for me when, during a discusion about a possible deal for his Celinder Precision, he said (and I hope you don't mind being quoted Terry) "If I had a gig tomorrow there is only one bass i would go with and that is my sadowsky metro hybrid (PJ with jazz neck) - not necessarily a traditional p sound but many p characteristics and sounds brilliant in the mix - maybe try one out". Anyway, I remember Birdy saying to me about two years ago when I was experiencing similar Precision woes that I should get a Sadowsky, and thought, "yep, it's about time...".

Thanks to Alanbass for a great and quick deal, to Loudanclear for being so honest about a bass I was at the time determined to get (his Celinder), and to everyone above and in PMs who took the time to give me advice.

    Chris
Chris no problem I think you will get on very well with the Sadowsky - its no problem you quoting me either I just maybe would add a small amount of context - the Celinder would stand up to any Sadowsky (or any other bass for that matter) (imho) but having exchanged Pm's with you it was my opinion that a sadowsky was more suited to what you were stating you were after (I have one so was able to offer my own judgement call on this) particularly the jazz neck - I would have loved to have sold/swapped the celinder but not if you werent going to be happy with it!
I love the Celinder but probably the only reason I am selling it is it has a Precision (44mm neck) and I like you have just come to prefer a Jazz neck. Anyway love to know what you think after you have had a god chance to play the Sad in a band setting.

    cheers

    Terry

  10. Thank you very much Steve - it is a great bass. I am away for a week from tomorrow morning so any interest/pms will be dealt with in date order upon my return - I will ebay it fairly quickly after this, if not gone so any offers will be considered

    cheers

    Terry
