1.
It's ugly, but other than that, so what? A 1972 Fender Jazz was of absolutely zero consequence in 1973, no-one would have thought twice about customising one.

Chances are if this one hadn't been modified, it would have ended up chucked in a skip, presumably like 75% of all the other 1972 Fender Js.

    Jon.
And that skip will hopefully end up at my tip.....god bless spring cleaning????
Happy new year BA and all at BC

  2.
I'm looking to upgrade my bass amp, as I currently have the Marshall MB30, and while this is a decent little practice amp and it has faired me well! I would like to upgrade it to something with a little more power and versatility. I'm on a fairly tight budget being a student!

One amp which caught my eye was the Behringer Ultrabass BXL1800A, does anybody know if this is a good investment?

I would preferably like to buy new, but if you know any good places to look for 2nd hand except the obvious eBay! and any amp with similar stats to the behringer; 100W-200W, (preferably with some sort of distortion effect but that isn't a must have as I can get a pedal!) would be perfect.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!
Roland DB700 in lovely condition £200 collected with cover...cant be a cheaper quality amp on here???? can there???
    Merry crimbo

  3.
I ask only because they've approached us about sponsorship and say they've been getting a lot of traffic from Basschat. I'm really curious to know why, I can't see any obvious connection.
I use their services frequently.....Best price in the Southeast......Birmingham can realise a few p more per gramme if you are very lucky......no commission on their prices stated...CANT UNDERSTAND WHY THEYD BE GETTING A LOT OF HITS VIA BC THOUGH?????

  4.
Thanks man !

I really don't want to sell but there's a strict "one in one out" policy round my neck of the woods
Has the 335 got to be a Gibson...I have several 335 type guitars, but only one 64 gibbo and shes staying with me.....she plays mediocre but its an investment thing...
Currently have an 1970's Electra same as the one Bishop used with vines very pretty plays superb,A 65 Yamaha in almost mint condition,a 65 Mosrite celebrity with a neck to die for....yep its that nice to play...An Ibanez LR 10 with modified phase switching for each pup...loads of variations...or if you fancy going jazzier a 1990 Heritage H575 in superb condition...or A Charlie Crabtree handbuilt spin on a 175 very nice jazz box ..its different....got more but the memory is going on me...if you want info let me know.

  5.
What is a Fender Bassman 300 Pro worth?
Whatever you can get for it!!!!!.....ebay will get you a fair price....dont expect to get your money back though....they are decent but not very good....YES I have one....however its not currently used for powering a bass rig

  6.
Apologies if this has been posted here before. Just in case it hasn't, here it is:

Just put my MIJ 51 reissue on here £21500 less :)

  7.
Body refinished and pots changed. £2800 cash on collection from Surrey only.
May swap for a Gibson Les Paul guitar of similar value.
And the scratchplate nearly fits aswell

  8.
If you're selling a bass as "rare", always look to see what all the other sellers have started theirs at over the last couple of weeks (and not sold) and price yours at least 15% higher. (I submit as best practice this rare 51 RI P , which has been up previously at £749, and joins 3 others in the last 2 weeks, all priced over £500 and none sold.)

Another tip, if you "know nothing about guitars" it excuses you for being a lying scumbag.
I couldnt get £550 on the same bass,in virtually as new condition....must see wot happens on the bay

  9.
Is it 34" scale & at a sensible price? :)
I think these come in around 32" medium scale bridge to nutt but will check once its brought round this evening, price is £275...currently has Flats on and sounds half decent, plays very well

  10.
It is - I told him exactly what it was & exactly how these basses can be identified - but going by his footnote it (in so many words - "some Ebayer said it might be an Aria, but who knows?") plainly wasn't what he wanted to hear. :)

    F@ck knows why I bother! :P

    Jon.
Im aving a party to celebrate the collection and 500 sobs on the Ibby :) :D
Anyone for a 70's Maya telecaster bass...in very nice condition???

  11.
I think you're probably right, but it's stiff to take £80 for a fingerboard fit after £135 for a set of strings. And I strung them up so tidy I don't want anybody unwinding them! :)
Have you stretched the strings or just tightened to tune???
If you Havent do so an retune....if you have I suggest you tweak the truss rod up a 1/2 turn then try again,if better but not perfect then tighten up a further bit at a time.DONT rush it though give the neck time to settle...

Theres loads of how to tips on the net try Youtube

  12.
Shilled, got to be. Considering there are two other Hondos on at the moment - one with a ludicrous and desevedly ignored £500 BIN, and the other at £180 and running out this afternoon, this looks proper dodgy. You're hard-pushed to get 500 sovs for an Ibanez 2388B - just ask Tino.

    There's a decent bolt-neck Matsumoku project here:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rickenbacker-Bass-Ja...y-/150524395000

Looks OK, the guy seems to believe what any random idiot tells him about it, though. Me, I told him what it actually is. Wonder if he'll believe me? :)

    J.
13.
That's crazy. A Hondo? I really need to fix up the two fakers in my living room. One has an Ibanez TRC. That should drive eBay crazy.
It wont ......I have a real 100% genuine Ibby in super condition......cant get a sniff on the BAY....................................but sold privately to a guy from the South Coast for good money today.. a Nighthawk that didnt get a bid at £850 sold to a lad from Bury tonight for £1200 thanks must go to PRELOVED.....right EBAY .COM and do the dough now....I feel a Mosrite moment coming on

  14.
Hi there, trying to find any info on these.I am always impulse buying any bass if I have spare cash or time to overhaul.Have these 2 I got no info on.First up is Corley J/P style bass.Guessing jap due to the neck profile nut measurement 44mm nut to 58mm at widest point same as aria SB's and its longer than my Sb700! 1220mm.Yowzer.34" scale, its also got 23 frets! Slightly neck heavy due to the massive fender style headstock, schaller 3d bridge and machine heads, think the bridge pup is a Di Marzio, not sure about the p type but both have been dipped to stop microphonics. One of the best jazz body profiles I have seen, very slim and nicely sculptured.
Next is a les Paul Triumph style bass, made in Japan.Semi hollow body,30" scale, ultra low action, pick ups are like humbuckers,2 vol,2 tone and coil taps.Amazing big thumpy sound then coil tapped almost jazz style.Think its early seventies.Anyone any ides on either?
    [attachment

    o
rley_5.jpg]Stuck it next to an aria and a jazz for an idea of size. Will load the Les paul ones on soon.Any info would be cool.
Best try Bassassassin......he knows all things Jap

  15.
I'm thinking of purchasing a beautiful big fat Rick 4003 bass when I'm over in Canada during Christmas time but was wondering about whether I'll get any hefty charges when coming back through customs. Anyone have any experience of doing this kind of thing? Any experience with bringing basses back from over the other side of the pond welcome.
Take out a £50 cheapo off ebay ......and bring the Rik back in.......simples

If doing it correctly the saving will be little....

I would do it........................But then Im that way inclined.....................DONT TAKE NOWT OUT........BUT BRING 1 IN......thats asking for a tug and a subsequent loss

another secret divulged........if they all start doing it there will be nothing left for me to cart home
