1.
http://www.strungoutguitars.com/ They sometimes have nothing whatsoever but you might find something really special if you are lucky. They often get a vintage jazz in but they tend to go quickly!
There was a sunburst '70s Jazz in the window when I was past at lunchtime on Monday.

2. I played an Epi JC in a music shop yesterday. The feeling was of a really solid bass, but I found the neck was a bit too wide and chunky for me. Got some good tones out of the pickup - there's enough variety in the varitone switch settings to keep things interesting.

How vintage-looking are you looking for? As a result of the trip to the shop yesterday, I'm going to be selling a couple of basses to make room for a new arrival, and one of them is a Yamaha BEX4 semi-hollow in blueburst. Lovely instrument, vintage-looking, with some decidedly non-vintage features - 3 band EQ, piezo and magnetic pickups, flame top. Pix and more info will be in the For Sale section when I get round to it...

3. [s]Spirit Folio Notepad Mixer (rare purple edition) - £45 posted within the UK - inc PSU, possibly a manual, but no box.[/s]
This is a great little high-quality compact mixer.

Specs are:
10 inputs (4 mic inputs, 2 stereo inputs plus stereo effect return)
2-band EQ on all 4 mono channels
Post-fade aux send on every input
Switchable +48V phantom power
Stereo inputs with switchable RIAA pre-amps for turntables
2-track tape return
Peak and VU metering
Headphone output

This one's a bit unusual because it's purple instead of grey, if that matters to you, and is marked "DND" in permanent marker on the back, so if those are you're initials, you're sorted!

Full working order, complete with original UK power supply, and possibly the manual if I can find it. No box, but I'll make sure it's securely packaged and bubblewrapped when posting.

[s]Marshall DRP-1 direct recording Preamp - £20 posted within the UK - no box or manual, crackly pots[/s]
This is more aimed at guitarists. It's an oddity from just before the days of digital modelling amps. The DRP-1 was Marshall's attempt to let you record big noisy Marshall amp sounds without a big noisy Marshall amp. Did the job really quite well, but appeared shortly before Line6 started churning out things to make your guitar sound almost but not quite entirely unlike tea. Good selection of controls, plus preamp, line and headphone outputs (there's a cabinet simulator on the line output but not the preamp output). The pots are a bit crackly and could do with a good clean, hence the price.

4. More pedals I'm not using and want rid of.

These are better suited for guitar, rather than bass, but if anyone's interested in them, or has a tame guitarist who might be interested in them, let me know:

Sessionette SP75 overdrive/distortion - £50 posted within the uk - box and manual
You don't see many of these around - basically it's the pre-amp section of a Sessionette 75 amp in a little metal box. Good selection of knobs to play with, and a great selection of sounds that come out when you play with them. There's a switch which puports to make single coils sound like humbuckers, in a kind of almost-but-not-quite-entire-unlike-tea kind of way. It's basically a switch to fatten things up a bit. Anyway, the pedal's in mint condition, never been gigged, and comes with box and manual.

SOLD [s]DOD FX84 Milk Box compressor - £35 posted within the UK - box, manual, stickers [/s]SOLD
I've never figured out what to use it for, but it's a compressor, and it compresses just fine. It's from the '90s, but thankfully the controls have sensible names, unlike some DOD pedals of that era. It's been at the back of the cupboard since I got it, and is in mint condition. Comes with the box, manual and stickers (the box has a bit of a rip in it).

5. Hi all,

A couple more pedals I want rid of:

Zoom BFX-708 bass effects processor - £25 posted within the UK - box and manual
Entry-level multi-fx from Zoom, with built-in expression pedal. All your usual presets, plus a few drum patterns, but nothing that'd trouble Roland. Pretty much mint condition because it never made it out the bedroom. Comes with box and manual. Read all about it here:

[s]Electro-Harmonix Small Stone - £30 posted within the UK - wooden box[/s] SOLD
This is a late '90s/early '00s black-cased version, made in Russia. Full working order, and comes with the original big wooden box. Classic swooshy phazer, with colour switch to go between "shhwwwwwsshhhh" and "ppphhwwcchhhhcchhwwwppp" and rate knob to go between slow swooshing, the chorus-like sweet spot and whwhwhwhwh insanity. Good condition - the photos make it look like the top is scratched, but that's just dust.

6.
Dude, one question, what have you replaced it with?!?!?
Despite the quality of the Fulltone, I've found it's not quite the right tone for me, and I usually end up going for my old faithful Big Muff (black Russian version) when I need to dirty things up. It dirties things up a lot! I've also got a Guyatone BB-X Bass Driver for those occasions where the Muff is too unrefined. The Fulltone's a fantastic pedal, but I'm just not using it.

7.
I have a double bass and also a kazoo. I would like to attach my kazoo to the top of it maybe using a goose neck type fitting with a clamp on one end. Where can I get something like that?
Stick it in your cleavage until you need it. I've got a friend who plays kazoo halfway through one of her songs, and that's she does.

8.
I'm pretty interested in getting one of these pedals whats the difference between the mosfet version and the non-mosfet sound wise?
I've not heard the mosfet version, so I'm not sure what the difference is. From what I gather, in the later mosfet version, there's a switch for comp-cut* instead of pulling up the volume knob and an a new switch for mosfet and normal modes. This changes the clipping mode of the pedal, by routing the signal through mosfet transistors for the mosfet mode, or through the original transistors for the normal mode. I'm not sure what the difference is in musical terms - I think it changes the voicing of the overdrive slightly - mosfet transistors are meant to give a slightly smoother tone.

Anyone care to give a better explanation?

*Comp-cut removes the compression from the overdrive, effectively giving you a clean boost pedal with a lots of of headroom.

9. I'm having a clear out of a load of old pedals I no longer use, since they're only taking up space. Here are a thing that go wah:

[s]DOD FX25B Envelope Filter - £35 posted within the UK[/s]

The B version is the one with the blend knob. Full working order, original box (held together with tape), but no manual. Not that it needs a manual - Blend blends, Sensitivity is how sensitive it is to your frenzied whacking, and range is the range of the filter when you do trigger it with your frenzied whacking.

I work in the centre of Glasgow, so if you're in the vicinity and want to collect, that's easily arranged and means you save on postage

10. I'm having a clear out of some pedals I no longer use. Here's some classic boutique bass overdrive...

[s]Fulltone Bass Drive - £90 posted within UK[/s] Withdrawn for now.

This is the non-Mosfet version, from 2002. Full working order, great condition. Comes complete with box, manual and Fulltone sticker. You know what these are like - quality construction, true bypass switching, boost channel, pull up the volume knob for comp cut, fantastic tone, which gets even better when you thwack 18 volts at it instead of 9.

PM me if you have any questions. I work in the centre of Glasgow, so if you're in the vicinity and want to collect, that's easily arranged and means you save on postage.

11. I'm having a clear-out of some gear - there will mostly be pedals, but there's some other stuff as well, starting with:

[s]Seymour Duncan SJB-3b Quarter Pound pickup - £30 posted within UK[/s]
- SOLD

This is an unused Jazz bass bridge-position pickup. As new, with original box (the box is slightly cracked), mounting screws and circuit diagram. Fits a standard Jazz bridge pickup rout. Quarter Pound pickups are high-output single-coil pickups with plenty of oomph. I've never installed it, so the wires are the full lenght (and still have sealer over the ends!)

Any questions, please PM me. I work in the centre of Glasgow, so if you're in the vicinity and want to collect, that's easily arranged and means you save on postage.

I also have a few more Jazz pickups to sort out as well - [s]a neck/bridge set of Kent Armstrongs[/s] and some unidentified ones - PM me if you're interested.
- Kent Armstrong no longer available.
