1. Well you already have your MIA P so the sound part is covered :) As for the look on the amp you could go for anything covered in tweed or with silver grill cloth... the sound should be one that pleases you...
You have the new Aggies (Neo) very retro-looking, Ashdown flip-top or Little Bastard, Ampeg, flite cabs, barefaced, ...so many!

Probably is best for you to start giving us a number on your amp fund and we'll go from there :)

edit: spelling

2. I would like to hear a review on the 112 cab, it would be a nice backup for my GB (with a proper speaker added) and good for leaving in the reharsal room. Not likely to see one showing in a near store any time soon...

3. I have a 12band 15" combo (180ishW@8ohm/300W@4ohm) buildt by Gibson but already designed befre they took on the TE company. Wonderfull thing, a tank in every aspect - indestructible, bulk, heavy and capable of taking down a small building. It has no tweeter and my back isn't 18yold anymore so i had to move on...
I'll always have the biggest respect and love for old trace gear. Won't hesitate using one if i find it on a stage but wont lug it up there...

4.
A tiny tiny spot of superglue would do (but not so much that you'll never get it out again)

..... some experts will be along soon to poo-poo that idea and tell you to squeeze cabbage juice over it.
^ this!

I have the nut in my old Maison P-copy held exclusively by a bit of superglue - it has no groves to hold the nut like the fender models - and if i want to take it out a small tap with a screwdriver's handle will be enough to release it without any damage.

5. Yeah! I undestand what you are saying. I always thought of Carvin as a Amp maker... never knew they made guitars also.
I'm in a limbo... the bass looks good and i realy wanted to ditch the Trace and would love to try a fretless but i didn't wanted to get stuck with something with no sales value...

What do you think? £700ish for it is expensive (half the new price)? Would i make a better deal with a trade? Should i forget about it and keep the Trace a little longer?

Thanks for the replys, i knew there was somebody out there :)
Cheers

6. So... nobody knows or heard of them?!! Are they that bad or that good?

IIRC, it's price new was something like £1400 - yes, basses are realy expensive in my country... a Stingray5 in my local store is priced at £1900!!!

Maybe the right people haven't seen it yet... sort of BUMP!

Cheers

7. Hi

A friend of mine had just offered me to trade this bass for my Trace Elliot amp. I liked the idea of a direct trade because i would get rid of the amp (hard to sell at a reasonable price, they're underated) and gain a bass that would be more easily sellable...
The plus: it's a fretless! I always liked to try one and now i have the chance. The minus: it's a fretless... not many buyers available...
I haven't held the bass yet but i fully trust my friend when he says it's in near perfect condition.

My main problem is that i don't know this basses, i've searched the web and only found info on the newer models...
I come here in search for opinions, advises, and a fair evaluation of it's current market price. If i decide to get it i'll put it FT in the sales seccion, if anybody wants to show any early interest in a deal it will add weight to my decision.

I'll leave you with some pics and get back to you later to try and answer some Q's:

Thank you :)

edit: corrected some grammar...

8. First Bass Owned: Maison P-copy
"Go To" Bass: Yamaha TRB-5PII
"My" Bass: Yamaha TRB-5PII

I'm GASing about a Sandberg California PM-5 in blackburst with maple FB and i believe this could become the "go to" bass in my arsenal due to it's tonal possibilities and active/passive option... the Yammy will always have "my sound".

9.
Well I blinking well do! Would be a lot less "at home" without it, I've been playing fivers for the best part of 20 years now and have totally adapted the logistic of my playing around that low B, so much so, that when I play a 4 strings bass I find myself working harder than I do with the 5th in place. It's a clever evolution of the instrument and not a fancy "must have" gizmo that purists might think of. It works and that's a fact. So move with the times and accept it.
You said all the right words GW, +1000 to this (exept i've only been playing 5'ers for 10 years) :)

10. I'm using this one:

http://www.effectpowersupplies.com/stompbo...chain-696-p.asp

It's realy good.

11. At 11,5 lbs my Stingray5 is the heaviest bass i've hold. I now gig with the much lighter TRB and don't think in coming back to the SR...

12.
Hmmmmm but i REALLY love the tone at the moment for dubby magic!

I'm tempted by getting a jazz and a sansamp.
Try flats in it. For Dub roll off the tone and play as close to the neck (right hand) as you can in fingerstyle. For crispy tones roll up the tone and play betwen the pu and the bridge. Try diferent areas of right hand playing and see the tonal diferences for yourself. I spend most of the time playing close to the bridge and when needed i climb to the neck and the sound rounds up with some extra lows without touching any knobs!

edit: i'm refering to the P bass :)

13. If i was to take your route using my gear i would pick up my TRB, Trace and Fulltone.
I'd start with the bass set flat w/ both pu's and tweaked the amp till i get that classic (slightly) mid-scooped trace sound. I would set the fulltone for the kind of grit i was aiming for. Then i would control all my sound with the bass and pedal:

Dub: neck pu, bass boost, mid cut, high cut - pedal off
Rock: neck pu, eq flat - pedal on or off
Rock/Jazz/Funk: bridge pu w/ a little of neck, bass boost, mid cut, high flat - pedal off

14. You'd be able to cover more ground if you were using a J insted! A P on flats sounds low and no mather how much you boost highs and high-mids on the amp you just can't add what's not there to begin with...

Probably a new bass day incoming?!!!... :)
