1. Evening One & All,

Okay - my band bought this combo - Ashdown Electric Blue 180 - about 6 months ago for our resi room, but my rig now occupies the space so this needs to go! - excellent as new condition, never gigged, only used at mid volume.

I have added the below link as it gives all the info etc you could need! They seem to retail new at the £220 ish mark, so anyone want to make an offer on it?? Not really sure what's its secondhand value is although it really is "as new"....any questions give me a shout. Amp is available in Leicester to try if needed.

    many thanks

    Matt

  2.
Just completed a trade with this forum user and have to say it was a pleasure. We traded Basses, via distance, on a postal and trust basis. So it can, and does happen, have faith in humankind. Great Bass as well, excellent condition and am really pleased with it, and the outcome of the whole deal. A great guy, cheers.

Hi Mark - Many thanks for the kind words.

I would just like to echo this - It was a transaction done entirely on trust and worked very well. I appreciate that there will be sceptics out there - and these were high value basses - but it proves that it can indeed work. A real pleasure and a true gent.
    many thanks

  3. Good evening one and all!!

Okay - I know Feeler threads can p1ss people off a bit - but I'm trying to decide what to do and this may just help swing it!!

I have Warwick Corvette $$ Nirvana Black 5 string - cracking example in excellent condition...however i'm not really using the B ..... already got a Geddy Lee Jazz which I love to bits, but could be persuaded to trade/swap the $$ for a maple neck Precision, Stingray????......what have you?????!!!

PM me if you might be interested....lets hear what you've got peeps!

    I thank you and Goodnight!

Ok - I know it needed pics!!! Please see attached - If anyone wants any other / more images of the bass, PM me and I'll do my best!

  4. Afternoon all,

This may be in the wrong section so apologies if it is and please feel free to move if necessary!!!!

I bought this from Mr T a few months back with the intention of creating a Fretless version of my Geddy Lee, but to be fair I just dont have the time - amazing what 3 kids can do to one'e energy levels!!!

I can't find the link to the original sale thread, but I have listed it on Evil Bay - I will happily end now to any BC'er if you want it. I paid Mr T £50 for it and would like the same back as it is totally untouched from when I got it.
I will include postage for this too.

As you will see from the pics someone got a bit carried away drilling the holes for the E tuning peg and came through to the front, doesnt make any difference and I'm sure you could fill it if you so wished. Skunk stripe to back, Black Block inlays and neck edge binding with white dot markers.

Really nice item - any questions drop me a line.

    Cheers All

    Matt

  7.
Man, I'm excited about fixing this bass up. I saw a great youtube clip of a guy playing a defretted maple neck Precision in 1980 with Pat Metheny and watching it I missed my old maple board fretless Precision so much. The sound of TI Jazz Flats on a maple fretless board through a PPUP has to be heard to believed! As the neck on this baby is clearly going to need some work done anyway - and assuming it's repairable - it seems a defret at the same time could make me a very happy bassist :)
Thanks Matt, and thanks Mr Cougar for the original, and very reasonable, listing of this bass. You both could no doubt have asked a lot more for it
    Chris
Chris,

Tis indeed a beaut of a bass and if the neck can be fixed and de-fretted so much the better.

I have seen tooooo many of the threads on here with people moaning about mark ups on stuff sold. At the end of the day I have bought a couple of basses and a cab of Jim ( Mr Cougar) and he is a top bloke, I consider anyone on here i do dealings with a friend and no way would i take advantage of a friend. Sure I could have asked more..but Im not prepared to offend Jim in doing so!

You'll love the bass dude without doubt!!!! Have Pm'd you with contact details.

    Cheers

    Matt

  8. Evening All,

After much head scratching and umming and ahhing, I have decided that this beast needs to be moved on as I cant give it the time it deserves as I am too wrapped up in my Geddy Lee and $$5 string!!

I bought this from Mr Cougar, the ever helpful and general all round top bloke otherwise known as Jim, and I have put a link below to the original thread as he explains the pros and cons of this better than I could!!!

    http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...mp;#entry282635

To add further to this, the action is high at present, I dont know if this is the result of anything sinister neckwise or not - However I will include a rather lovely SX fretless Block Inlays in maple so you could always just swap the whole thing over. Sound wise, it is brilliant, I'm just not using it and dont know enough about truss rods and the like to begin tweaking to see if this will alleviate the action issue.

End of the day this is a tremendous bass with a solvable issue for the right person. I dont want to sell it to be fair but it is money sat on the wall I could put to other uses!!!!

I paid Jim £250 for the bass, I have changed the scratchplate to Black but other than that it is as per the photos on Jims original thread. The neck I bought from Myke T for £50 a couple of weeks back. Ideally I'd liketo get £300 back but will accpet £275 collected. I'd really rather not post as I'd like any prospective buyerto see the bass first and be happy with it.

Okay - I've taken enough of your valuable time people.

Please PM me if your interested.

    many thanks

    THOJC ( Matt)

  9.
Tricky.... You need to decide whether the '73 Fender bit is important, or you just want to fix a faulty bass.

The provenance thing is a bit of a non-issue on a bass with two trees, a Badass and Seymour Duncans...
If you want a 'genuine' '73 either get the neck repaired/refinished (probably at considerable cost) or purchase another '73 neck (also considerably expensive), then source a '73 pickup and bridge.

Or sell it (might be problematic given the above issues) plus bowed neck (I take it this can't be resolved with the trussrod)...

If you just like the thing and want to play it, then either get another P neck - Japanese come up fairly regularly and you get a logo - Mighty Mite are very substantial and feel authentic.

    Good luck!
Good points!!!

The age thing isn't an issue - I just love the sound of it, so I think the replacement neck is the way forward, your quite right, not much point shelling out for a date correct neck with, given the mods its got now....I do like the look of the mighty mite necks but will keep an eye open to see if anything comes up.

    Cheers Stewart,

    Regards

    Matt
